This is the third brand of tablet we’ve tried out and I have to say I’m very impressed with the capabilities, user friendly experience and design. Our boys first got Fire tablets, something inexpensive and easy for road trips, they were a waste of money. We decided to invest in iPads and those have been great so far. We didn’t want that expensive for our young daughter and we found this on sale at Walmart. It’s been excellent! It’s easy to use, easy to delete unwanted apps, quick and can use a microSD card, which we’ve installed. We opted for a Walmart brand universal case but we will need the exact case. Overall, I’m very happy with this tablet and I would absolutely recommend it to others.

Good for general use

I had it & used for about a week or so. For the price its capability & function is great.I didn't realize but no big deal is that is only has 1 speaker opening (not planning to use as media device) but seems pointless to have dolby with 1 speaker. It has USB2 charging which is slow, it would've been great if it had USB-C fast charge. Auto brightness is hit or miss, maybe it's "learning now" but have to adjust brightness quite freqently, hopefully it will learn, if not I'll have to get better brightness adjusting app. Minor but other annoying thing is that app switcher only shows 1 app at a time, which is stupid because you can't easily see what other apps are running, and have to swipe 1 app at a time to check. It has built-in FM radio (requires to plug in headphone jack), but when I try to use other FM tuner app it did not work. Screen brightness is great for general use, battery seems to last a good deal (it dropped about 30% continuous screen use under low/moderate brightness w/o intense CPU use for 4-6 hours)I got this to check website, news, quiz/study mostly. If you want bit better function, specs, & capability, consider samsung A7 lite. But for now I'm happy with this device for my use.

I'm in Love

I have had the tablet for about 2 weeks and I could have not asked for a better tablet reader. I use this strictly to read books. Download books using my browser or Kindle. I also use it to host certain apps like Yandex mail and disk. Wordpress and other book reading and blog apps. It is a bit slow when it comes to loading certain pages, but a couple more seconds of being patient is no problem to me. I use it to watch videos on Youtube and that works flawless. The camera and speaker is not that good, but I did not purchase this for selfies and blasting the speaker box. Also, the charging port is a bit dated. Its a not a USB-C. Other then that. Makes a Great dedicated e-reader

I decided to buy this tablet as a back-up for my e-reader. I really like it a lot and am happy with the way it performs. It is as good or better than other brands I have purchased in the past. My only complaint is that the power switch is placed in a position where it is most comfortable to hold the unit while reading. It could be improved, I think, with an inset button on the back.I cannot describe much else about this product as, like I say, I am using it as an e-reader. It does have all the other good stuff, great sound, vivid screen, preloaded apps and the ability to access "play-store" etc. It seems to be sturdily constructed and durable.I hope to get a lot of use out of it.All in all, I think it is a great tablet!

Nice electronics & display but useless without case

I'll start with the bad stuff & end with the good. I bought the Lenovo Tab M8 to replace an aging Kindle 7" tablet that was becoming unusable. Despite its problems, my old Kindle had a nice rubber-grip case that was much thicker. In contrast the M8 case is totally slippery aluminum and it's about as thin as a phone, making it seem awkward and fragile. The volume and on-off buttons are unfortunately on one of the long sides; this placement seems intended to force the user to hold the tablet in portrait orientation, since the buttons will get in the way of almost any attempt to hold the tablet in landscape mode. The power button is quite sensitive, so any accidental touch will activate it. The back of the case curves toward a sharp edge at the front, making the unit hard to pick up when lying on its face (it's heavier than a phone so you need a good grip). To solve these problems of fragility, thickness, slipperiness, and button and camera positioning, I ordered the "MingShore Rugged Case for Lenovo Tab M8" from Amazon, which helps enormously. The case provides an edge around the M8 so that the buttons and camera are recessed rather than protruding. Without this case the M8 is simply a nightmare of poor physical design that makes it borderline unusable. In all my years of using my old Kindle, it never once occurred to me to buy a case for it.Because the case is so slim, the speaker is incredibly tinny. I went to "Settings->Sound" and clicked on the orange "Dolby" icon, which displays an equalizer. By setting the equalization to a linear decline I was able to make the speaker sound reasonable. It seems odd that Lenovo would ship this thing with "flat" equalization that sounds just terrible.An annoying feature of Android 10 (to which this unit updates) is that if you choose 3-button navigation, you cannot get rid of the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen even in full-screen video mode. The YouTube app eliminates the buttons when full-screen, but no browser I tried (Edge, Chrome) seems capable of this, and to make matters much worse the 3 buttons are contained within an annoyingly obvious white stripe. Hopefully either Android or the browsers will fix this problem. I made the always-present button bar much less annoying by choosing "Settings->Display->Dark Theme", which makes the white stripe black. But that is Android's annoyance, not Lenovo's.The display and the performance are quite nice. I use the M8 mostly for browsing. I dowloaded Microsoft's Edge, Bing, and Skype and all these seem to work. I am able to browse and watch videos in both portrait and landscape modes; I can hold it in any of four directions and it adapts instantly. Battery life seems good. I give this unit 5 stars for its electronics and screen, and 1 star for its rather miserable physical design. Manufacturers seem locked in a desperate struggle to make their products thin and light, but thin and light aren't always "better", i.e. more usable. Lenovo's obsession with thin-ness and its decision to put the buttons on the long side, along with the super-slippery aluminum case, all as if this were some sort of giant phone, seriously reduces the tablet's usability. Lenovo should include a rubbery custom case with the phone rather than forcing buyers to seek one out.

Not the fastest tab, well built with a nice screen

Impressive bright screen, overall feels like a high end tablet which is well built. It is only my second android tablet or any kind of android device. Searching on YouTube seemed to be a little slow yesterday other than that I have not used many apps. primarily using it for a baby monitoring device to free up my cell phone and my iPad. The device seems to be a bit slower, but I have to admit it is not a fair comparison because it is being compared to an iPad Air, or an iPhone 14 Pro. After purchasing, I realized a similar Samsung A7 tablet is about $20-$30 more for one more GB of RAM. Overall, I am pleased with this device. I purchase as an Open-Box Excellent condition as the Satisfactory condition for nearly half the price aren’t available anywhere. Fairly decent product for $88- out the door, after apply my $5 rewards. I haven’t tried it for for anything else but my kid will do the real testing after running Roblox on it.

Ok. Bad interface.

The hardware is fine. The tablet is sturdy. The case is nice. The graphics look good. But the kids' interface is horrible. It's very slow to load, which is mildly frustrating for an adult, and melt-down worthy for an impatient toddler. I have a lot of trouble getting in and out of apps because the swiping mechanics it employs are nearly impossible to use. If it wasn't for these two issues, I would love the tablet. The parental controls work as intended. I like the way the content is served. And although things load slowly, we don't have any issues with speed once in gameplay. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this tablet because the navigation and speed of the interface are too critical to accept the issues.

Smart Tab M8 is No Bueno

Purchased a Lenovo Smart Tab M8 with Google Assistant in November 2020. Have taken good care of it and it's only been lightly used. In March of 2022 I tried to power it on, but it's "hung", meaning it comes on but it won't move past the red Lenovo banner that displays at start up. It won't boot to the operating system or the home screen. Naturally it waited until it was out of warranty to fail. Took it to my local repair spot who said it's in a "boot loop" and the battery has failed. After only a year and a half of light use? Seriously? And the replair place can't repair it because they can't find a replacement battery since it's considered "old" (M8 vs the newer M10) and Lenovo doesn't sell parts for their own devices.
