ABSOLUTLY INCREDIBLE!!! Gibson hit a massive home run with this guitar! After reading all the reviews and watching video's about this guitar, I see why everyone gives it a 5 star rating now that I have one of my own. I didn't have to do a single adjustment of any kind on this guitar when it arrived. I first looked over the entire guitar when I received it and there are no scratches, ding's, or dents. The binding is flawless around the main body. The guitar has an amazing burst on the front. The string height and neck is set perfectly. The action on the neck is very fast and smooth. No fret buzz or dead notes. The warm thick tones of the humbuckers are killer. When I plugged it in I played on the clear channel first and the tones blew me away (crisp warm tones). I ... It has a thick padded lining around the inside of the case for great protection. Many THANKS to my Sam Ash Sales Specialist, Steve Segal, for helping me with this sale and for answering all my questions! Bottom line: I would buy this guitar again and again and if you buy one, you won't be disappointed!!! Well worth the money! ROCK ON!!!

I had a great experience with Musiciansfriend. I called my gear advisor, Scott, and he went the extra mile to answer all of my questions over about a two week period. My guitar weighs just under 10 pounds. The set up was superb with a low action and near perfect intonation. Phenomenal sound. Just amazing. Each string rings out clear and balanced. This is my first Gibson. I am a Fender player ('69 Jaguar, '97 Strat) so I was afraid I wouldn't like the warm tones of the humbuckers (nearly went with P90 because of this), but I can't compliment this guitar enough. It's a legend for a reason. The only bad thing is the case. It's obvious that Gibson doesn't take as much care in quality control for their cases. First of all, sorry that this is in english but maybe somebody will still find it useful. I ordered two of this exact model. I sent the first one back due to a quality issue. The first guitar was well set up, played really well, sounded great, and looked beautiful but at the top of the neck there was a very small gap between the fretboard and the neck. It was about 0,5 mm in height and about 3 cm in width on both sides of the neck. It was small but you could feel it with your hand every time you played over it. Anybody would notice it upon inspection and I am quite surprised that it got past both the Gibson quality control and the Musicstore check. This is the reason for the lower score on “Verarbeitung”. Now, was it a showstopper? For me, it was, considering the price of the instrument. For others, it may not have been and to be honest I thought long and hard before sending it back because it was otherwise a really excellent instrument and I’m sure some people may have decided to keep it. Kudos go out to the Musicstore.de for making absolutely no fuss about taking it back. I will certainly consider buying from this store again in the future. Now, to the second guitar I received: What can I say? It is a wonderful instrument that has THE sound. I usually play a Telecaster but wanted something Gibson-ish for a more humbucker-type sound. This has that sound, so if you are looking for a classic Les Paul sound, you will not be disappointed. Unlike the first guitar which seemed set up quite well by the Musicstore, the second one was not. This is not a problem for me as I am familiar with setup work but if you are not, then you may need to take the guitar to a good luthier once you receive it in order to get the most out of it. So that is something to consider when buying. Mine was pretty off and didn’t seem like anyone spent more than 3 minutes setting it up which was a bit disappointing considering that I know (based on calls to the store) that the delivery was being held back for over a week because it was waiting to be checked and set up. The truss rod had been adjusted quite right but the intonation was way off, the action was “ok”. The pickups seemed untouched and the height was off leading to an imbalanced sound. These are all minor things and it didn’t bother me because I like to set up my own guitars anyways but it should be noted that there seems to be a diffrerence in attention to detail between whoever is doing the setups at the store. That said, once set up properly, this thing is a killer! It is a tone and sustain monster! As far as workmanship goes, I can’t find any noticeable flaws. The finish is beautiful and the binding is very well done. The fretboard was extremely dry and needed to be oiled right away. This is typical Gibson and a bit annoying but also not a real issue that can’t fixed with a few drops of lemon oil and 2 mins of work. One last thing to note, the guitar is heavy. The fist one weighed 4.6 Kg and the second one weighs 4.4 Kg. That is normal for a Les Paul but you should know that in advance in case that is important to you.Reading back what I wrote above may seem negative but it is only so others know what to expect. All in all, I’m very happy with the guitar and would buy it again but for the price, I would’ve expected a bit more attention to detail.

To own a Gibson Les Paul Standard was a dream I had since childhood. To watch all the great artists perform on the beautifully crafted guitars was magic to all senses. Now that I can call one of those my own is a dream come true. The double AA top is amazing. I wonder what AAA must be like. Well as soon as you plug it in and feel the vibrating corpus on your chest, you know it’s yours and you won’t change it for another one. It’s all about emotion with an instrument like that. Sure, it’s an investment but you’ll always have true worth that holds for lives to come. A gem.
I love this guitar! It is everything I have been looking forward to. Even the unplugged sound is great. Plug into a good amp and cab, and you can play all the classics with a marvelous sound. It is flawless, and the setup was great right out of the case. Just tune and play. The neck is quite "fat", but I like that.Gibson products are not cheap, so price/performance ratio can be discussed. For me this guitar is worth the price, absolutely.Speedy and troublefree delivery by Music Store.
I've had the guitar for a couple weeks now and it's been the main guitar I've played during that time and it's incredibly hard to put down. The neck is thin but not too thin. It's a good medium profile. This is also one of the lightest Les Pauls I've ever played. The guitar is extremely resonate and loud acoustically. This could just be luck of the draw finding this specific Les Paul, because I've played a few 60's standards and not all of them were like this one. This one was definitely the best one I tried of this model. I have yet to gig with it yet, but I can't wait to. I've tried it in Standard, Eb Standard, Drop D, and Drop C# and it sounded and reacted great in all four tunings with little need for adjustments. The only con I've found is occasionally the ... I have ebony version of 50’s standard.Guitar is immaculate, there is nothing that points to the horror stories of Gibson QC. Frets are perfectly leveled, action is very low., nut properly cut, pain and binding as it should be.Neck profile is perfect, thick but not the famous baseball bat. Not extremely thicker than the neck on my Fender AO60 Strat.Pickups are versatile and can cover a lot of genres. Maybe more Bonamassa than super high gain but still very versatile.Yes, these days they are a bit on the heavier side if comparing to the all kinds of chambered bodies Gibson used to deliver but unless it is close to boat anchor weight, which is for me 4,5kg and above it is well worth.I would buy again if the quality remains the same.
I have a collection, mainly Gibson guitars, and when I saw this new 60's burst repro I thought wow, that's a good price for that guitar. However, that guitar in the photo is probably the best one they made at this price. The one I received had very little of that book matched tiger striping that makes bursts so cool to look at. So, I remembered that Guitar Center and Musician's Friend are the same company and just drove down to the store with it. They had just one that looked a lot better, so I traded it out. Again, the photo here is still nicer than the one I settled for, so don't be surprised when this happens to you. Latches on the cases also vary. Gibson is outsourcing these, and the first one I had looked more classic than the second one, which has more modern looking latches. It's also not so cool that there's a modern-looking Gibson logo on a brown case that's trying to look classic... That kinda' sucks, especially if you already have some classic brown cases next to it against the wall. In terms or quality and playability, it's good to go. Pickup selector was loose, so had to tighten it, but otherwise plays and sounds great. It would be nice if Gibson would pay more attention to wood selection for the tops on these, though. I have a LP Std from the early 80's (cherry burst) with a far nicer top on it that I bought new for less than 1/3 the price. Don't tell me it's only that I bought it that long ago that I lucked out. Tea burst is a nicer color in my opinion, and hoping it won't fade as quickly as my older one.
I finally saved money for this guitar and when I wanted to buy it, there was no available models in stock all across Netherlands. I was trying to find it everywhere and eventually I found one piece here in Music Store. i was so happy! It arrived in a good packaging by DHL. It took longer then expected (a few days longer) but in a good shape. I recorder a full unboxing just in case of any issues, but it turned out that the guitar and the suitcase are in perfect condition. no glitches, or scratches all over the guitar. The construction and the setup are as expected. The sound is also awesome and as expected from a such guitar. Overall, I am very happy with this order.
Like the headline said, the 60's standards are so sexy. Did a lot of research prior to my purchase. A lot of people were stating that Gibson's were pretty shotty in the quality department. For some reason, I saw the 60's standard and immediately fell in love with them. So I convinced my wife that I needed one. I'm SO HAPPY I made the purchase. She was perfect. The setup was dead 💀 nuts 🥜. Intonation needed very little adjustment. I fell in love so hard that I had to convince my wife that my beautiful 60's standard needed a red head step sister. So I purchased a '96 wine red custom. The standard holds it's ground against the custom. In fact, I love the standard better than the custom.
