I didn't realize that I never wrote a review for this notebook, and that's a dang shame. Let me rectify that right now. It's been a while since I've gotten this book (almost a year), and when I took the book out of its plastic packaging, it looked like new.If you're someone who likes a pocket sized travel notebook to write on the go, this is the journal for you. It's hard to visualize what an A6 looks like in regards to a A5, but suffice to say, it fits nicely in pockets. If you're someone who wears a uniform with button down front pockets (like for a security guard or law enforcement, etc.), or if you wear uniformed cargo shorts or uniformed cargo pants, you can easily stash this notebook in the pockets. The notebook is that small. As a fan of Leuchtturm, the notebook's quality is top notch. I used this notebook earlier this year for a job, and it did amazingly. It survived drops, falls, and being constantly opened and closed. I used a regular store pen with this notebook, and it worked really well. I was able to use the band surrounding the notebook to hold both the pen and the notebook in case I had to write stuff down. I liked that the pages were numbered, and there's a significant amount of room to write things. While doing the job, I had to write down so much information, to the point where this notebook ended up being my job diary. Over the course of about 6 months, I wrote in it every time I had to go to work. At the end of my job, I ended up using the entire journal. This journal was nice too because I was able to keep all the loose papers given to me in the handy pocket located in the back. It was nice to have all of the information related to my job at my fingertips. If you're someone that likes to write a lot though, this notebook might not be for you. Due to the A6 size, it is pocket size, but it also has significantly less pages than a traditional Lechtturm 1917 A5 journal. If you prefer to collect items and use your journal as a scrapbook, this journal is also not for you, since if it holds anything besides papers, it can get pretty bulky. In my opinion, this journal is good for taking quick notes/quick sketches, and holds up well for everyday use.All in all, this was a perfect pocket journal. I would highly suggest getting this journal if you need a journal that can easily be stashed away, a journal for quick notes, and a durable journal. If I ever needed this journal for another job, I would order this again.

These are the best pocket notebooks I have used. They are durable for daily carry, with mine typically being carried every day for six months to a year until full. The two bookmarks are handy and much appreciated. The elastic band that keeps the book closed is durable. I have never had any failures with these books, and I have been using them for several years. The paper is also fountain pen friendly, and resistant to bleed through from other kinds of pens. I prefer the dotted paper. I will always have these. I also use the larger size books for journals. I do wish they would print the size of the book in the book to make reordering easier. For example, knowing that it's the A6 size would be nice to have printed in the book. I picked this up, in part, to better my handwriting when using wet, broad, or stub nibs. I use the 120gsm A5 notebooks with smaller ruling for notes and journaling which is great, but the 80gsm ones have often had more show/through or bleed than I'd like (I totally get that it's normal, but I find it a bit distracting). The 100gsm paper in this A4+ as well as the larger ruling has really held up well to ink flooded on w/ the Opus 88 1.5 stub with little to no show-through and the additional line width means I sometimes have a fighting chance of making sure 'e' and 'c' don't look exactly the same. I haven't gotten into more ink-resistant papers yet, but the Leuchttrums have served me well and do allow for a decent amount of shading even with finer nibs.

The BEST journaling notebooks EVER. My truest art is my writing and I will spend any amount of money to get the best. Thankfully, these notebooks are not expensive - yes, more than some, but worth every penny. The different sizes are so nice too - whether you want a purse-sized book or a large journal. The elastic band is sensible for privacy, to keep pages open and keeping the journal nice and flat when closed. The pages are tightly packed in a strong spine. I prefer the lined pages and have a tendency to only write on the right-side pages. I use Pigma's Micron 05 archival ink, which can be a bit "heavier" than regular pens like a Pilot, which I also use a lot (Pilot Precise Rolling Ball V5). There is no bleed through, but I can see the Micron pen marks on the other side when I use a heavy hand or scratch things out. My ink does not feather, and captures my writings as precise as I want to be. My lined notebooks come with page numbers and a space for the date. You cannot go wrong with this brand. They are sturdy, handy and pretty and I will continue to purchase more in the future.
I use the Leuchtturm1917 Master notebooks for writing manuscripts. Really, I don't think there's any other product out there that compares. The double ribbon bookmark, table of contents, page headers & footers, the pocket in the back, the labels... you'd think that this would be the hands-down favorite of fountain pen users. And yet, it can't be. The 100g paper that the mighty Master uses is better than what's in the smaller Leuchtturm offerings, true. But it's still an also-ran compared to the better quality Clairefontaine paper that Rhodia uses in their smaller webnotebooks. In my own tests, some of my favorite pens can't be reasonably used in this notebook. I've got a Jinhao 159 with a Goulet EF nib in it, which is actually a hair broader and wetter than the Pilot ... In my own tests, some of my favorite pens can't be reasonably used in this notebook. I've got a Jinhao 159 with a Goulet EF nib in it, which is actually a hair broader and wetter than the Pilot F. It turns out it's too wet; writing with that pen in this book bleeds through the page a little here and there (using Hero blue-black ink).Oddly, another Jinhao pen with the larger Goulet F nib did not bleed much at all when using Hero Blue ink. Still not sure if the difference is the nib, the ink, or some combination of the two.My TWSBI F with Iroshizuku yama-budo also bleeds on this paper. But a Goulet M nib with Noodler's Black Swan in English Roses does not. While these notebooks are pretty amazing, this is not the place for a fountain pen show & tell. The paper can't deal. Find a pen, nib, and ink combo that works well within its limits and you will be rewarded for the compromise. If Leuchtturm1917 could make this same product but with a paper equal in quality to that of Rhodia, it would be game over for Rhodia in my eyes. The included labels are a nice touch, but the quality and sizing is perhaps a bit shabby. The binding labels can be particularly hard to line up, and would be much easier to apply if they were scaled down a touch. On the flip side, the cover labels could use scaling up. The quality of the adhesive leaves some room for doubt. It would be a nice touch if the cover & binding were embossed in a way that served as a guide for label placement.
I have written every morning with my coffee for years, with fountain pens in one of these or other notebooks. This is my absolute favorite. I have used 5 of them to date, one after the other and now despair whenever I don't have a fresh one waiting for when my current volume is full. Fountain pen friendly paper, generous toc pages. A nice back pocket (which I don't use). And two fabric placeholders. The oversize A4 suits me fine for desk use. So it's not a portable notebook. Rather a durable volume for permanent note taking, writing or record keeping.
So this notebook so far in my notebook using experience is the absolute best presented and laid out notebook I have used. It has the perfect aesthetic and epic feel when it is opened that there is a great story written inside across its pages, like as if it will contain some epic tale of history similar to the feel of when Gandalf is reading the account of the ring on old parchment in The Fellowship of the Ring. That kind of feel. I love a big journal, with big pages, but small writing, filling the page. And this notebook does that so well because it is so big and so awesome that way. It opens flat which is an essential to awesomeness in a notebook and it makes it easy to use. The line spacing is good and roomy to accommodate writing scripts that take up more than ... That kind of feel. I love a big journal, with big pages, but small writing, filling the page. And this notebook does that so well because it is so big and so awesome that way. It opens flat which is an essential to awesomeness in a notebook and it makes it easy to use. The line spacing is good and roomy to accommodate writing scripts that take up more than one line. It has all the bells and whistles that being, two ribbons for page marking, a table of contents, page numbers, dates, a title page, and a paper holder at the back, and the paper is a soft creme color leaning slightly toward ivory which to me is such a nice touch to the aesthetic as looking at the pages is not harsh or bright on the eyes but soft and easy which I like. The paper is a middle ground between smooth and textured so if you value the hyper smooth of Clairefontaine you will not find it here but it is not as rough as say Southworth 100% Cotton paper is. The covers are a middle ground between hardback and soft so it will hold its shape but bend under pressure. Now for some serious honesty. I have not written in it yet. But I have used another smaller Leuchtturm 1917 notebook with a 1.2mm Italic nib with Noodlers Black and that one works just fine to me, with nice crisp lines and no spreading or feathering. So for both of us I am hoping it works as well in this or that will be sad. Ha ha. But anyway. The picture shows how the size of it is compared to a Pilot Metropolitan and an Aurora Ipsilon to give you an idea. Overall for the aesthetic I absolutely recommend above any other notebook I have yet used. It's just got such a good feel of an epic journal with tales of adventure in it, I can't say that enough. It really helps at least to me create that feel of why handwriting and analogue memory keeping is so much nicer than writing on a computer. So give it a shot and I hope you like it.
Fantastic little notebook. This Leuchtturm is my first 'proper' notebook/journal an I'm kicking myself for not trying it out sooner. The book is great quality, the paper is nice and of a good weight. I'm using it for lists, note, ideas and sketches. I've used pencil, pens, fountain pens and ink brushes in the notebook without issue or bleed (just be sure your ink dries before closing if you don't want transfer!).The book can lay flat easily (something other brands don't always get right) which is good for large sketches and the other side not getting in the way.The cover is nice and is holding up well, I've added a large clip to the front to hold a pen and this hasn't damaged or reduced the integrity of the cover. This is the second one I've ordered from Goulet. This size is hard to find anywhere. I love the oversized paper, the extra heavy end papers, the wider lines (which allow me to see what I write & edit as needed), not to mention playing with calligraphy! Paper weight of 100 gsm to me is a tiny bit on the thin side but I can now use my fountain pens if they are extra fine to fine point nib, anything heavier does bleed & shadow. I get some bleed-through with dotting my I's and punctuation. Noticed no feathering nor much shadowing through the paper either. I wish someone would create a notebook with at least 110 or heavier gsm, but these are now non-existent. Not used to having page numbers at the bottom & having headers on every page. The cover isn't what I consider a hard cover, a small amount of flex does not make it a hardcover. It's pity they only make this size in black. I think it would look stunning in the some of the newest colors Leuchtturm has come out with, i.e. salmon, dark green, ink, to name a few. And finally, the only real drawback I find irksome is the weird number of sheets/pages every company seems to be doing. Only 235 pages? Really? Why stop there? Why not go to a nice round number like 250, 300, or even 400 pages? {Although at 400 pages it would make the thing a full-fledged weapon: it'd weigh a ton!} I ended up creating extra sheets to round it up to where I like it, in this case, 250 pages. The notebook comes well-kitted out with the exterior elastic band, 2 ribbon markers, a 2-page table of contents (converted to listing notable dates on), full size pocket at the back (I always have to add my own pockets to my notebooks), and the labels. I think I've forgotten something, but it's been a long day. All that being said, I like this notebook, it's growing on me. I think I will be buying more.
