I purchased the Smart HEPA air purifier LV-Pur131S in Jan 2021. It worked great, looked great, was quiet and gave us really fresh air in the bedroom. One day, though, it stopped working right. (Our daughter has the same unit and hers is still working). We obviously had a defective unit. It happens. I had activated the warranty at time of purchase which gave me 2 years. In Feb 2023, I called the company, explaining that I was slightly outside the 2 year warranty but my unit was not working. She said since it was under a month over, she thought they would still take care of me. She emailed me the info I needed to provide and in 10 days, sent a brand new unit! Very happy.

I purchased this unit in September 2020 and ran it continuously on low and medium settings. A few months ago I changed it to the Auto setting. The purifier recently started cycling between air quality ratings every few minutes and then completely died (January 2023). I contacted Support for help troubleshooting. They told me the limited 2-year warranty period expired, and I should either take it to an appliance repair shop or buy a new one! Very disappointed they don't offer any product support after the 2-year warranty. I have seven Levoit air purifiers across five different models. This is the only model I have had any issues with. Based on all the bad reviews I'm now reading, this is a terrible product with only a 2 year lifespan. Do not buy this model.

First of all, the unit is very effective at cleaning the air and removing odors; it is really amazing on how effective it is. The reason for the poor rating is because it has a short life. Our first one lasted about 3 years and then the electronics froze up, like so many others in the review section. Because I had already purchased new filters for it and in spite of it's short life span I purchased another one like it yesterday. I filled out the form to get the 2 year warranty and hope Levoit has fixed the chronic electrical issue. I think the warranty should be 5 years.

Either one or both of them were blown on every unit. I repaired all 5 of my broken units. So basically I had 10 units.The next thing that goes out on every unit after the capacitors is the air quality sensor, it will start cycling the unit from high speed to low speed every 30 seconds or so. That then fries the unit and I was not able to repair it. This happens after about another 6 months of use, so I got a total of roughly 1 to 1.5 years out of each unit by knowing how to do a repair and also a free replacement that went through the same cycle of problems.The 2 stars is because I would expect the unit to last longer than it did. Also after having it happen to all 5 I purchased as well as the 5 replacements by Levoit, I think it is safe to assume that the vast majority if not all units have this problem.So, in summary, if you are not a tech person, expect the unit to fail in 6 to 11 months. Expect a replacement from Levoit which will be under warranty, and then expect another 6 to 11 months out of it.If you are a tech person, expect to get another 6 months out of each unit.This may be ok for you, I expected more. But only you can decide, and now you have the information to make that decision.
There is a common defect of this machine, that it won't turn on after 2-3 years of use. My air purifier broke down completely after 3.5 years of use.
