This LG 38WR85QC-W 38 inch was bought as open box so basically brand new. Was worried after I bought it though because I forgot to check the return policy and saw no returns, but decided to roll with it. Monitor has no dead pixels or missing accessories or issues and I saved around $200 buying this open box off of ebay vs brand new from LG. You never know with certain sellers but I have had no issues here. Monitor is great. I think it's one of the best out there for both gaming and work. My opinion is you don't need anything bigger than this. I'm coming from a 42in LG C2 oled tv as a monitor and I can say it is a bit overwhelming at times. Also, the LG C2 experienced burn in and it also didn't get bright enough to combat reflections with a glossy display using it ... MoreThis LG 38WR85QC-W 38 inch was bought as open box so basically brand new. Picked ips over VA to avoid potential screen smearing and have clearer text. LG 38WR85QC-W is the perfect resolution as well. 4K can be too taxing to drive at times and as with my LG C2 is underutilized since I have to zoom the screen it anyways. I have this monitor set up so I can seamlessly switch from my main gaming pc to my Mac book which is pretty dope.

Started a new position where I needed about 6 windows/ documents open at the same time. I'd been sent two little monitors and a laptop and was really struggling. This monitor changed everything! Perfect size for what I need to do. Also a very nice, contemporary, sleek look in my white/ grey office. Came well packed, and in record time! It's really changed my work experience, and even reduced my migraine frequency. Win win!

Wow.Having long looked at ultra-wides trying to find the right fit for me, I was excited to get my hands on LG's latest 38" offering. Initially I was concerned that a 60" x 30" desk might not be enough to use it comfortably, but so far I haven't noticed any serious issues due to the massive size (having upgraded from a 27" QHD.)The built-in color profiles are really great - and holy cow does the contrast and brightness really stand out for some of them. They can be quite eye-searing, in a good way! The LG Calibration Studio is available as well, but requires an external sensor (Like a Spyder, etc.) I was hopeful that some of the settings could simple be changed in the software vs being forced to use the OSD.I'm primarily using the monitor for gaming, and 144Hz ... MoreWow.Having long looked at ultra-wides trying to find the right fit for me, I was excited to get my hands on LG's latest 38" offering. I use a 6900xt which drives this resolution/refresh rate just fine. The 1ms response time is great, and there's settings in the monitor to adjust through some refresh presets. My only gripe is the back of the monitor - If you are up against a wall like my desk is, you lose a good 5-6" due to the positioning of the stand and the cables. If the cables came out of the bottom instead of 90 degrees out the back, you could flush-mount the monitor on the wall and gain a good amount of space. Instead, to do so, you'd have to invest in some after-market 90 degree cables to make it happen.Honestly, though, small quibbles for such a great monitor. I'm really happy with it!

Works great. Controls are intuitive, color is great and the built in KVM clears a ton of desk clutter relative (assuming you have a docking station setup with dual monitors). OLED is probably better for gaming but if you value productivity then this is the one as burn-in won't be an issue. The extra screen real estate (both monitor vertical resolution + physical dimensions) are really nice.
I really wanted to like this curved monitor. It has the perfect size and resolution, and a great set of properties that cover all bases, from productivity to gaming. There's no other monitor currently on the market with this combination of properties. However, there it has many flaws that ultimately ruin the whole experience. Some of them are probably defects of this particular unit, while others are design flaws.1) It's WAY too bright. Zero brightness is ok to use during the day, but way too bright at night. And even at zero brightness (and all other settings set to minimize brightness) black is nowhere near black: it's much brighter than black on my Macbook at 100% brightness. And white is about as bright as on the Macbook at 55% brightness. Everything's just way too bright. I also noticed that brightness stops decreasing under 12%, i.e. any setting lower than 12% is as bright as as 12%. This is possibly a defect.2) USB-A ports don't seem to work at all, none of them (regardless of KVM settings). They're completely dead, while other ports work ok. This is obviously a defect of this unit.3) A super bright power LED randomly turns on about 10 minutes after the monitor goes to sleep, even when Power LED is switched off in settings. If the monitor's in your bedroom and you've already gone to bed, you have to get up and switch the monitor off, for which you have to first turn it on, wait for it to turn on, go into the menu and switch it off. Kicker: you cannot tape over the LED, because the joystick for navigating the menu *is* the LED. What dumb design decision, and why can't the monitor respect the OFF setting???4) Switching between full screen and split screen (PBP) is very poorly designed. The last active full screen input always becomes the "main" input in split screen, which is always on the left. If you want that input to be on the right instead, you have to manually change settings EVERY TIME and it'll forget next time you switch from full to PBP.5) The LAN connector only connects to one input at a time (it respects the KVM input setting). This is incredibly dumb, because it means that only one device can have ethernet. So if you switch to your laptop while your desktop is downloading something, the desktop will lose the connection, and vice-versa. Why can't this be a simple ethernet hub (where all devices are always connected), or at least be configurable which input gets the connection? If you're lucky enough to not get a defective unit and can live with the design flaws, this is potentially a great monitor. For me this was not the case.
I work from home, and I am a computer gamer. I absolutely love everything about this monitor! The high-definition picture is fantastic for watching shows/ movies and doing my work on spreadsheets at the same time. This monitor allows me to stream movies from my phone. wirelessly. I can easily drag documents over to my adjacent screens, and the base is adjustable to my height since I am 6 ft 3 inches. The width is just the perfect size to fit on top of my desk. The screen is super sleek, is light weight, and not bulky whatsoever. The base is white and has a modern look. If you are looking for a monitor for gaming and if your workspace is from home, this monitor is the perfect monitor for you! I highly recommend this LG product.
This is my honest testimonial on the LG 38” WQHD Curved Ultrawide Monitor 38WR85QC-W. I am an avid video-gamer, and this monitor is a high-end product! The refresh rate of 144Hz is extremely fast where I can play with no lag time and interruption. I love how this monitor has an Ethernet port, 4 USB ports for my multiple devices, an integrated kvm switch, and two type C ports that can charge laptops. It’s a monitor bundled with a complete docking station, so you have only one cable to unplug when you are on the go. The design is sleek and easily adjusts to my eye level. I can also multi-task easier because I can change the screen to a two-screen mode. It also has a mode to prevent blue light strain on your eyes. I was very torn between getting an ultrawide and two 1440p monitors. I'm a data engineer and work with VS Code, DBeaver, Tableau dashboards, Excel, etc.I found this monitor to be perfect for both work and gaming. I have my personal laptop hooked up via USB C, and my work laptop which has a docking station connected via DisplayPort. Because of the built-in KVM switch, my mouse and keyboard easily switch between my work or personal laptop depending on the input I select. It's honestly the perfect setup. The picture is crystal clear and a joy to view. I find I have plenty of real estate especially if you install Windows PowerToys Fancy Zones for window management, unless you have Win 11 which has pretty good Window management on its own. 38" is the perfect combo for ... MoreI was very torn between getting an ultrawide and two 1440p monitors. I find I have plenty of real estate especially if you install Windows PowerToys Fancy Zones for window management, unless you have Win 11 which has pretty good Window management on its own. 38" is the perfect combo for me of size and utility. I think the Samsung super ultra wide 49" would just be too overwhelming for me personally.I wish I had another one of these on my desk upstairs but alas the desk is too small.Gaming is awesome with synced refresh rates working great. Buttery smooth, no issues on that front. My gaming laptop has an Nvidia RTX 4070 (it's an Asus Zephyrus G16). I was able to confirm in the Nvidia Control Panel that G-Sync was working. You may notice if your unit came from Canada that the stick button won't turn the brightness up or down, but rather pulls up an accessibiity menu. It means a couple extra clicks to turn the brightness up or down, which is a little annoying. I somehow managed to fix it the LG secret menu on accident, I'm not exactly sure what I did. All I did was click around a bit then exit, and somehow the geo location of my monitor updated itself. The monitor was connected via Ethernet at the time. Now I can control brightness with the little stick going up or down. If you go that route, I highly advise to be EXTREMELY Careful with those settings. Take a picture of everything before you do anything. Once they are changed, if you screw them up you can't go back. They are not meant to be handled by regular consumers by rather by trained technicians. Why I took off one star. The sound is surprisingly good. HOWEVER, I did experience a little strange static sound on some songs, especially mid heavy music such as piano. At first I thought it was a defective unit and returned and replaced the monitor, but the second one has the exact same issue. The problem seems to be random. It will happen on a song one day, then the next day the same song could play and the issue isn't there. I have no idea what it could be. Most people just get external speakers anyway, but I wanted to mention this.Overall very happy with this buy from LG. Well done. I'll keep it as long as I can.
Bigger is indeed better! This is what I can say about LG Ultrawide 38WR85QC-WComing from a 34 inch ultrawide, I thought it's not gonna make a difference as it's only a difference of 4 inches, but I was wrong. This one is a real productivity beast for me. This monitor does not come with a super smart system/ OS -- which I honestly prefer to an extent. Those monitor OS is quite limited with the functionality it brings anyway. This one has almost everything you need to still be productive and can even make it a smart one if you want to. Let me explain -- This is base on my use case. I don't primarily game and I'm planning to use this more for work and entertainment.- Immersive - Ultrawide Screen (3840 x 1600) Curved DisplayThis works well for multitasking and splitting your display into 2-3 sections. No need for additional monitors. I was able to split my screen into 4 section and the size was big enough to use the sections as a "normal" screen for watching video, browsing, collaborating or charting.- One Screen Multi-View Function (PiP or PbP)This extends the above functionality even further. With the massive screen, I can use Picture in Picture functionality not just for watching YouTube videos which I did in the past with my other monitor, but I actually was able to use a another laptop for personal browsing and work. This gave me a new way to work with 2 laptops and still having a normal screen resolution as compared to Picture by Picture (or split screen). Unfortunately, the input is limited to a combination of USB-C and HDMI. I'd love to have it both USB-C to eliminate more cables from my setup. This features KVM that allows you to use one mouse and keyboard to control 2 devices but since my current device works similar, I am not using it -- but it's a great feature to have!- Ports GaloreThis one offer variety of ports for you to use, you've got the backports which has USB-C, Displayports, Regular USB, HDMI Ports and Audio port but it also had more ports at the bottom of the screen for additional USB-C and USB-A ports. This also comes with LAN port but I use WIFI so this is something I was not able to test/ use.- Integrated SpeakersOne more cable and space saver for me as this includes a built in 2x 7W speakers! It's loud enough for attending work meetings (I work from home), watching trainings or video.- White and beautifulI have a white minimal desk setup so having this in white is a big plus!Overall, this monitor is AWESOME!
My cat chewed my LG34GN850B so I was forced to upgrade. As a gamer and someone who works at home, I originally bought the AW34 OLED, but trying to use OLED for work was nearly impossible. The text was too blurry and the screen was too dark.I decided to go with this monitor for the fact that it’s works as a professional work monitor and works great for gaming. The size and resolution are also the sweet spot as folks say. 2160P for 38” is just too much - you can hardly see the text. But with 1600, it feels like you’re using a bigger monitor but still on 1080 or 1440. It’s just perfect.Pros- Brightest monitor I’ve seen- size and resolution are perfect.- 144hz, gsync,- usb C- quick setupCons- stand is cheap and wobbly- display port cable is short.
