I'm sure this microwave oven will turn out to be excellent at what it does – microwave food. But it has a few niggly problems that reduce the rating to four star. The first is that it slips around when you open the door, unless it happens to be sitting on a non-slip surface. The problem is two fold. First, there are no rubber feet, just metal pads, shaped from the metal making up the base. Second, a plastic cover protecting something, protrudes past the metal pads. So as well as making the oven not sit perfectly level, this plastic cover causes the oven to slip around. I considered the footing to be such a poor design that I spent about an hour glueing on rubber feet and removing the plastic protrusion. A buyer shouldn't have to do that. One other problem. To set the time you have to disconnect the power. No sweat if you never lose power, but if you do lose power, even momentarily, the time is reset. You then have to disconnect the power again to change the time, and probably read the manual to work out how to do so. The designers should have thought of a better method to set the time, and also a method to keep the clock going through a power outage.

Within one year of buying this microwave it stopped heating and started making a clicking noise. Turntable turns, buttons and lights work but no heating. I contacted LG by email...nothing..I called their overseas call centre who stated that to process a refund/repair I had to visit the service centre. Closest one is Margate, Caboolture or on the GC. I'm in Brisbane so it's a 2 hour round trip to get a service report to prove it's faulty to get a refund. I haven't the time or energy so it's going to the tip where it belongs. I won't be buying LG again. It's sad as they used to be a reputable company and reliable product. Be aware this is a known issue with this product, the fact that they have made it difficult for people to get a refund or replacement is what ... MoreWithin one year of buying this microwave it stopped heating and started making a clicking noise. I bought this microwave 3 years ago second hand. I've just seen lots of reviews claiming it doesn't last but I wanted to refute as mine is still as good as the day I got it. In fact, my Mum bought the model up with higher capacity and hers has also lasted 3 years. Nice, even reheating. Great defrost settings, although like all microwaves isn't always perfect at defrosting. It's also much quicker to work than most other microwaves. The only real issue is that the turntable will sometimes come off and need to be put back on centre but that's only if I'm picking things out. I don't know if there was a bad batch that the unlucky few got, but I haven't had a single issue with mine and would absolutely highly recommend. It's not cheap, but it was still a great purchase.

Good looking microwave that fits in with my other stainless steel appliances. My previous microwave was also a LG one which stopped working after 12 years. This new one is smaller and suits my circumstances just fine. It’s very easy to use with a user friendly menu. I mainly use it for reheat food and it does the job just fine. The bonus is its not too heavy so I can move it around if I want to, not like the previous one where I had to get help to do so. Totally recommend this microwave.
Very nice microwave in design and cooking performance. Very user friendly and I love that it plays a tune instead of the generic beeping like other microwaves from times gone by... I noticed however after using my rice cooker to cook rice and pasta in it that the steam creates condensation/moisture inside the microwave (which is normal) but it doesnt dry quickly though, my old LG microwave never had that happen.. after Ive cooked rice in this new one it still has condensation inside the microwave the next day, so you either have to leave the door open for a while after cooking or wipe it out every time.. also, the swipe/slide time adjust.. its a cool feature to have and looks sleek but in reality, older style microwaves with push buttons to put the time in etc are ... MoreVery nice microwave in design and cooking performance. I would definitely buy it again. You cant beat the look and style of it. As far as microwaves go it looks very nice in my kitchen and has even received a couple of compliments..
I consider the design of this oven to be elegant. It is easy to clean and the controls are easy to operate. It looks good. It works well enough at this stage. One would think from the product code and the description on the LG website that it has the same feature set as the larger and more powerful MS4296OB. Not so! It does not have sensor cooking but 'popular menu'' where you enter the type of food (e.g. frozen vegetables) and the weight (in 0.1kg increments). The oven calculates the time. That adds an extra step. What happens if you want to cook 250g, not 200g or 300g? The Choice magazine review indicates incorrectly that this is a feature. You have to read the manual closely before you see the difference. As a single person with a small kitchen I just don't need ... MoreI consider the design of this oven to be elegant. I would have happily paid a bit more for sensor cooking.
TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS COMMENT BY ANON. THIS FEET SLIPPING BUSINESS IS DRIVING ME NUTS. THIS IS WHAT ANON SAID AND I 100% AGREE. SO HAVE YOU FIXED THE PROBLEM YET?
We purchased this Microwave to replace a larger one that was too big for our new kitchen. After a few weeks of using this microwave daily we are more than happy with our purchase. It blends in with the other, new black appliances we've put in and looks really stylish. We rarely use the microwave to cook food from scratch - mainly re-heating of pre-cooked foods and heating milk for drinks etc, so we use it quite a few times during the day. This microwave has performed brilliantly to date. We love the little tune it plays at the end of the heating cycle to inform us that the food is ready. It looks like it will play the tune indefinitely if we don't attend to the food - but that's the whole idea isn't it - get up and fix your food! We also like the 'touchscreen' facility provided by the glass door for quick settings and use and mainly use this rather than the buttons just inside the door. So, full marks to LG for this machine. We couldn't be happier with it.
I don’t write too many reviews but only I like to do that when I find a product that is made really well or not so well. This os the latter group. We had the first one replaced under warranty by the shop and it was just past its warranty period. The replacement one (current one) worked well for close to a year then we started to notice hit and miss in its process. Sometimes warms up, sometimes it doesn’t. The food is not evenly warmed up. I have given up on this Microwave and the LG brand so if you are looking for one give this a miss.
First LG appliance and last. Strange how things start to deteriorate at the end of the warranty period. I only replaced my 18 year old sharp microwave because I wanted a sleek looking machine, what a stupid mistake that was. This LG microwave has a F3 error code message appearing on it with a stupid musical notification that still continues to play when the door is left open. You can't operate the microwave at all, so you just have to switch it off and pull out the plug and re-set the clock everytime you want to use the microwave. This code is not in the manual for troubleshooting and you have to research YouTube videos or pay for a technician for help. It's easy for me to buy a new microwave and definitely a different trusted Brand. LG please do not contact me, I ... MoreFirst LG appliance and last.
