Bought this TV to use as a monitor replacement… and it didn’t work out as expected: to be honest unless you can drive a 4K 48” display to 120hz, it doesn’t work as a monitor; what’s more even when you do have the hardware to drive it, movies and even games at 60hz and below are hard to view that close at such a low pixel density(same pixel density of a 24” 1080p screen). I changed my entire setup to work with it, put it slightly raised about 5 feet away, and increased the scaling a bit on my computer still at 120hz; Best Decision I’ve ever made.Gaming is pretty good on this thing: I’m not new to hyper frame rate gaming, and if you haven’t experienced anything over 60hz, this thing will seem pretty incredible. Even the PS5 running spiderman with 120hz auto enabled(strikes and responses are noticably faster, even if the system can’t fully take advantage of creating a full 120fps).Movies and Sports motion are good: personally, I prefer my Sony in my living room for better color and below 60hz motion response, but this thing is no slouch…Sound: usually I’m the first to complain about sound, but the AI actually does a great job at compensating for the close distance. I’m amazed at times by what it can do, and this is coming from a planar loving audiophile. I’m not sure how it would do in a large room, and it’s possible the base helps deliver bass with the downfiring speakers; which means they might not sound quite as full wall mounted. :::Extra comment::: I’d mention the g-sync issues, but these are well known with most n-vidia devices, when bouncing between different inputs the devices can incorrectly sync themselves for audio, which causes a weird clipping sound, restarting the connected device re-syncs the devices and fixes the issue, not a big deal… but it does suck when you want to do something, the audio keeps clipping, and it takes 30 secs for the device to restart.WebOS is junk, somehow programmers have worked to keep modern apps on the platform, but that’s about it. Remote is amazing, but because of TV’s slow or at times just bad at CEC connectivity; it won’t be good for much beyond WebOS. In other words, get a streaming box if you can, don’t punish yourself, unless you plan on using just basic app the entire TV’s lifespan(Netflix, Amazon, etc.).Overall… its a good TV, it does have a tiny fan that kicks on from time to time; I’ve debated taking the back off and finding another method of cooling; but obviously this isn’t recommended for anyone to attempt.Future Proofed… This thing has a lot going for it: WOLED has shown to have better overall blacks then QOLED (quatumly adjusting blue light to other spectrums causes light bleed from the background glow below the filter level of the sub-pixels), So from a purist point of view, WOLED might still be a better tech, even though QOLED produces insane colors and strangely clean brightness levels; due to the light still having blue spectrum speed, with the other color’s actual color. FreeSync and all the HDMI 2.1 controller additions will keep this a major player for atleast the next half decade… It is hard to say what will come next… if they can fix the bleeding issues, QOLED might still be the future, laser projection is growing in popularity day-by-day(some expect cheap high performing 4K laser projectors to be the next big thing in 5-6 years; large inflexible screens are hard to manufacture, ship, inventory, sell, and move; reduce cost enough and a small box that is easy to buy on whim, becomes attractive to consumers).

When it comes down to my speakers just not linking to my tv automatically when switching to bluetooth an tv speakers. You wont be able to change picture mode sometimes an only be left with 3 or 4 picture profiles at default when you should have 6 or 7 depending on how many you make or customize, so then your stuck with bare minimum of modes an you’ll likely need to redo all the settings which can be frustrating if you do alot to your an can’t remember. Also the chance the tv can randomly bug out an go a lil digital static screen when switching from one app to another. An still hate the fact they took away the old ui with being able to watch your show while navigating the menu, can be a big down side if you enjoyed that from the LG C8 Oled Tv”[Build Quality] 4/5“The build quality itself is actually very great with the way it has a solid base to hold it up made out of like a nice brushed metal *that thing is heavy fr* not only that but the tv itself is very sturdy the top half you might wanna be careful handling considering the fact it is just the panel an cooling for it, the only thing i wish is they made the speakers just good enough on there own cause once mounted it can sound a bit different since the mount stand itself curves to make the sound come out better specially with the ai volume adjustments.”[Pixel Refresher] 5/5“The software to prevent Oled Burn In does seem to do very well, ive had the tv for almost over a year now of daily use an also leaving it on by accident at times when falling asleep on a game or app etc. The tv does have a afk mode basically by going all black an has little small fireworks pop around the screen slowly like an old dvd bouncing logo in a new fashion for us customers. But overall the pixel refresh is what makes the most of the life of the tv it seems cause it will usually prompt when it could use a refresh an I usually will since it only takes a minute or two, an this usually will happen before you watch your shows so its not like a pop up ad for windows or something.”*Overall Review*“Now the LG C1 is a great tv for all around things like gaming an movies an a decent wide range of customizations to make the tv feel more like yours an experience the full experience of OLED an high refresh rates which actually work great for any gamers who would want to use this as a monitor, but for myself i know i likely will be looking elsewhere in the future for my next tv, as much as i love LG the software seems a bit downgraded rather then improved upon an thats a huge thing for me since i use it daily for gaming an shows.

Everything I could ever ask for and have ever wan!

I am a gamer who has been playing on old 1080p screens for years. After literal years of research and saving I finally was ready to buy my first tv and as someone who mainly plays on my PS4 currently I was leaning more towards buying a 4K Sony tv. I spoke with a friend about this plan and he urged me to shoot for an OLED instead. I was hesitant due to how bright I believed the OLED screen was and their higher price tag which is why I had been steering towards a more basic 4K model, but after more research I learned LCD screens actually generate more Lumens than OLED screens do and this model went on sale! He recommended this tv as opposed to one of Sony's OLEDS because it is by and far more bang for your buck when you're comparing OLEDS and he wasn't wrong! My friend bought a 55" for his bedroom and said it's terrific but wouldn't want to go bigger while I went for the 48" and find myself saying the same thing lol. Even though i'm playing on a base PS4 this tv makes my games look next-gen. The graphics are detailed and smooth thanks to the HDR and 120hz refresh rate of the tv, and tv shows, streams and movies look twice as good as they did on my old 1080p as well. It took me a few hours following a youtube video and my friends advice to setup the display settings for each viewing mode but after I was done I was blown away with the picture quality and freedom to alter the graphics and make presets the tv will auto switch to dependant on the content I'm viewing. Coming right out of the box the default settings were quite horrid with the brightness and sharpness set to max but once you lower the sharpness and adjust the brightness and white balancing to your liking you'll love what you see, just youtube a display setup guide you'll be golden! The tv definitely required two people to setup even while being the smallest model, it is a bit on the heavy and bulky side but nothing compared to the tube tvs I grew up with. The speakers are not notable but I don't really care since I live in an apartment with thin walls and usually watch tv with a gaming headset on anyway. I'm finding the remote to be really quite enjoyable despite the fact it has no backlight, and when I am tired of using it I can simply connect to the tv with my smart phone and use my phone as a second tv remote. The screen mirroring and Android features are fantastic too I can finally easily watch anime that isn't on Vrv or Crunchyroll or play Angry Birds on a 48" screen. For the price and the quality you really can't find a better deal! Buy one before they're all gone!!! The C2 is having a lot of reported issues seems like LG has outdone themselves with the C1.

Excellent Performance, Poor Reliability, No Warranty Support
16 March 2023

I just thought I would let everyone know, that the LG OLED77C1PUAhas a great picture. The TV in question costs over $3,000 and for that expense, I expect it to operate for more than one year, and preferably more than five years. On 12 August 2021, I ordered an LG OLED77C1PUA, and received it several weeks later as a result of COVID delays. The cost of the TV was $3,146.99, which was a great deal.Currently, the same TV is listed as about $3,400, but out of stock at avariety of sites.Just short of 12 August, the TV failed. (just short of a year from purchase. 11 months after receipt). The TV would not turn on, although the red power light would flicker once and remain on. I was t it to work intermittently by unplugging the TV, waiting for several hours, at which time, it would turn on again.Although it took several weeks, LG, sent a technician, who replaced all parts, to include the 77-inch display, except the power supply and its control circuitry. When I asked why, I was told the diagnostic code indicated this should be replaced. The TV worked fine for almost six months (17 months after receipt) when it failed again to turn-on. The same problem as before, except, unplugging and waiting up to several days would not allow the TV to turn on.As this was the same problem covered under the warrantyrepair, I contacted LG customer service. After some discussion, they determined that it would be covered under warranty. Over a week later, I was informed that LG could not find a technician to repair the TV, and that I would need to find a repair person. I tried, but failed to find a technician. During mydiscussions with customer service, I was told, that if the TV could not be repaired, they would replace it, as it was now covered by the extension of the warranty.I then followed up with a text to LT customer service, andwas quickly contacted by a woman, identifying as Chastity, on 9 March who implied that it would be no problem to have the TV repaired On 15 March, I was told by Chastity that shecould not find technicians to repair the TV. I was offered a 20% rebate, not to exceed $500. I was told that this was the best they could do, as it was out of warranty, despite the fact that LG customer service had extended the warranty to cover the repairs.I pointed out that the two follow on versions of the TV wereavailable, although the C2 was not available through all sources at it was being phased out in lieu of the C3 version. As I have said previously, all I want is for my TV to work, and if it cannot be fixed, replaced, and the old TV taken away (I am almost 72, and would need to pay someone to take the TV away and dispose of it at the land fill with an additional fee).

Fantastic image for gaming, movies, 2nd monitor
18 April 2023

Needed to update my old sammy (series 8 led) to get a bit more from my PS5 & to improve stream clarity for the odd movie or binge series when not gaming. After much head scratching, I finally chose LG's C1 oled. The C1 isn't the latest model & the C2 & C3 are brighter (worth considering depending on your viewing conditions) but in my opinion you cant go wrong with any of them, Incredible image quality, great features, good remote, snappy & useful interface (I'm told the C2 & 3 are even faster, but I was still impressed). If I really had to nitpick - the power cable on the C1 specifically is a little short & internally attached (non removable) so again depending on layout you may have to run an extension... seems a weird thing for a manufacturer to skimp on ... MoreNeeded to update my old sammy (series 8 led) to get a bit more from my PS5 & to improve stream clarity for the odd movie or binge series when not gaming. I believe the C2&3 have the power lead centrally situated on the rear to lessen this issue. But thats so minor & I get the feeling I'll move over to LG screens permanently now, I'm that happy. Speaking of happy - Richer Sounds.... (used the B'ham store for many years, now moved so Solihull branch now for me) but as with their entire company in my experience, with their collective product knowledge, prices, enthusiasm to help (without pushiness).... The only thing I don't quite understand is honestly why would anyone shop anywhere else?? 10/10

Hands Down the Greatest Value
1 January 2022

We actually chose the LG brand of OLED 4K (UHD) TV at Best Buy based upon our selection of the highest picture quality of all TVs in the store, and knowledge that OLED (Organic LED) in general was the only way to go since each pixel had its own light source. A Best Buy staffer - knowing that we were not going to buy that day - covered all the differences between the LG OLED 65 TV models (A, C and G), and assured us of compatibility with our present receiver, actually making a single line hookup drawing with connection cables specs, indicating which ports to be used. A Best Buy staffer - knowing that we were not going to buy that day - covered all the differences between the LG OLED 65 TV models (A, C and G), and assured us of compatibility with our present receiver, actually making a single line hookup drawing with connection cables specs, indicating which ports to be used. We quickly determined that the better processor in both the C and G models was worth the relatively small price jump from the A to the C model, but given that the C had sufficient screen brightness for daytime viewing and we almost exclusively view the screen in a darkened room, we could not rationalize the relatively large jump in price to the G model for the brighter screen. Although the difference between the C and G model screen brightness was only somewhat discernable in a brightly lighted showroom, if you view your TV in a room as bright as at BestBuy, I'd say go for the G model if the cost is not a barrier. Otherwise, save the bucks and get the C model, which otherwise has the same features as the G, except maybe maybe for a future technology ACST 3.0 Nexgen tuner, which I believe the G already has (more on that later). In our later research online, we were hard put to find any real complaints about any of the LG lineup, except for an occasional report of damage during transport or owner-induced during unpacking, etc. (read the LG unpacking instructions first, and no matter how strong you are, don't try to mount it without another pair of hands). We wanted to use our 5+1 speaker system so that's how we set it up, but at one point, we accidentally configured use of the LG TV speakers, and were startled at the unexpected high quality and realistic sound image when mounted on a wall.On the other hand, we don't like technology that gathers information for marketing purposes, or keeps records of viewing patterns (e.g. our thermostat has 3GB of memory!), However, the LG TV allows you to deselect ( or not select) those features. One criticism is that, if like us, you don't want your preferences collected for marketing purposes, you'll be hard put to figure out how to avoid seeing the occasional but persistent and annoying request to register for that.We don't have cable available, and don't want to avail ourselves of the ASTC 1.0 or future ASTC 3.0 technology (that the G modern already has) which purportedly allows the industry to collect marketing information, so that capability is just along for the ride on our TV. That having been said, we get a fantastic HD OTA Digital TV signal from a tower 56 miles away with a small, amplified yagi antenna that is barely line of sight to the tower. Rather than connect our LG TV to the internet, we've connected our 4K BluRay player online with an air modem (Verizon "hotspot") for data plan-limited Netflix or Hulu. Here's a tip:Replace all your HD DVDs with either BluRay 1080p HD discs which a 4K TV can enhance to nearly UHD ("4K") quality, or if available with a BluRay UHD ("4K") disc.

Surprisingly Noticeable Improvement Over Other LED
3 April 2022

The picture quality of LG OLED, with pure blacks right alongside the bright and white pixels across an entire screen full of typical video picture, avoiding the pixel brightness bleed-over or 'blooming' effect, is far more noticeable than you might initially believe and, like me, probably wouldn't notice in a showroom with all the bright overhead lights creating reflections and glare. LG OLED is a drastic and noticeable picture quality improvement in the real-world dark evenings viewing over other HDTV LED technologies.Initially I bought a Samsung 9-series (top of their Neo QLED 4K line) 65" QN65QN90A to replace my 15 plus year old Panasonic Plasma TV, and was beyond disappointed and preferred the picture clarity of the 15 year old plasma over the brand new ... MoreThe picture quality of LG OLED, with pure blacks right alongside the bright and white pixels across an entire screen full of typical video picture, avoiding the pixel brightness bleed-over or 'blooming' effect, is far more noticeable than you might initially believe and, like me, probably wouldn't notice in a showroom with all the bright overhead lights creating reflections and glare. LG OLED is a drastic and noticeable picture quality improvement in the real-world dark evenings viewing over other HDTV LED technologies.Initially I bought a Samsung 9-series (top of their Neo QLED 4K line) 65" QN65QN90A to replace my 15 plus year old Panasonic Plasma TV, and was beyond disappointed and preferred the picture clarity of the 15 year old plasma over the brand new Samsung, so returned it and researched further and bought the LG OLED C1 - immediately noticed the significant improvement in picture quality/clarity of the LG OLED over the Samsung QLED - LG OLED is what ideal HDTV is expected to be, without the fuzziness created by bright pixels 'blooming' into dark pixels. The LG user interface is also very user friendly and not buggy, which sounds like an unnecessary observation so I'll contrast why that is 'remarkable' by comparing to Samsung's terrible GUI programming. The Samsung user interface is full of programming bugs that haven't been corrected by Samsung over at least 3 separate model years. Talking with a neighbor with a low end Samsung from 3 model years prior, I found they have the exact same Samsung GUI interface glitches, bugs and poor functionality as the 2021 model year high end 9-series Neo QN90A , meaning Samsung hasn't bothered to correct and improve simple lines of programming code for over 4 years. For instance, certain Settings submenus would be randomly grayed out / disabled for no reason (including primary functions like Picture for changing Brightness/Contrast/Color Mode etc, and Broadcast for scanning over-the-air OTA HDTV channels - simply turn off the Samsung TV power and turn back on a second or 2 later and the menu option becomes enabled again. Many advanced functions deep in the nested Samsung menus would be grayed out or when selected say 'This feature not available' - leaving you unsure if it is because of the random menu disabled programming bugs or the feature really isn't available on this model (then why would it be listed in this model's menu structure, easy to hide with simple programming and model-specific 'properties' files). The Samsung program guide often defaults back to the eastern time zone even though the TV is connected to the internet, showing the wrong TV Guide time period, once you change a channel, Samsung logic then re-reads the time from whichever source (internet, OTA broadcast signal, internal TV BIOS clock) and shows the correct time and program guide time period again - there is no problem with any other computer or device connected to the internet and the router timeclock remains with the correct time while Samsung programming logic is confused. For OTA channels, you can't manually add a single channel, Samsung needs to rescan all channels which takes longer and you lose far distant channels that come in and out of signal strength. Your favorite channels also get reset by Samsung's scanning and possibly other functions. There were numerous other inexcusable Samsung glitches I've already purged from my memory. All of which my neighbor with a lower end Samsung model 3 years earlier has the same uncorrected Samsung programming bugs. The LG GUI has none of these Samsung GUI issues, and LG allows you to manually add OTA HDTV channels to your existing scanned list even if the channel doesn't have a signal at the time you add it to the LG channel list, and so on with more real world useful functionality that you would and should normally take for granted.Do yourself a huge favor and go with LG OLED technology.

TV Broke After One Year (Buyer Beware)
19 July 2023

To start off, I'm going at admit that I'm a massive LG fan with having purchased a 65" C9 OLED TV back in 2019 for my living room, a 32GQ950-B gaming monitor for my setup, and other LG appliances that my wife enjoys. However, about a year and few months ago I purchased a 55' LG C1 OLED TV for my master bedroom and one night the TV randomly shut off on my wife and wouldn't turn back on, only staying in standby mode with a red light (and it was not due to a power outage AND I had a new surge protector put in place 3 months prior). I called LG customer service to help resolve the issue, they couldn't do anything to fix the problem, so I went to the only LG TV service repair center in my area. I called LG customer service to help resolve the issue, they couldn't do anything to fix the problem, so I went to the only LG TV service repair center in my area. After they ran some diagnostics, they determined it was an issue internally with the board/panel and it would cost nearly the price I bought the TV for to repair it. I called customer service again to see if there was anything they could do. They submitted a ticket for a one time courtesy repair but was rejected by a supervisor AND they did not even have the respect to call me back notifying me of this decision when they said they would. Now I'm out of a $1400 TV that I had a little over a year, poor customer service, and no accountability on LG's end. Overall, BUYERS BE CAREFUL, its upsetting to have to spend hundreds of dollars on an extended warranty and I had a lot of trust with their products, but LG will not stand by their products after the 1 year mark, do not make the same mistake I did.
