LG UltraGear 34GN850 34inch144Hz UWQHD HDR FreeSync Curved Nano IPS Gaming Monitor

Excellent IPS Panel with great colour reproduction, nice aesthetics and a very responsive and smooth feel at 160 Hz. The monitor exhibits no signs of ghosting and there is no noticeable colour variation across the regions at least when observing with the eye. I upgraded from an Acer X34p due to a warranty claim on the Acer monitor and this has been a nice improvement. The colour quality is very similar, but the increase in refresh rate is a noticeable and appreciated improvement over 120 Hz.The only cons when comparing to the Acer monitor are the lack of rotational freedom from the monitor stand and the lack of speakers. Both are minor quality of life features that are seldom used and can be rectified by buying a monitor arm and speakers.

Awesome 144hrz 1440p Gaming Monitor

I thought it was just a gimmick but I was schooled by it's attribute. Other features like "Black Stabilizer" which lets you tune/tweak the blacks/shadows within games and media to your satisfaction! Also, there is a "Game Mode" a preset configuration of different calibrated styles like "Gamer Mode 1 & 2 which are for a variety of different games that gives you the ability to tweak & configure them both to enjoy your favorite games! There is also an "FPS Mode - RTS Mode" For when you need to quickly switch to the easiest optimized gaming mode as you jump in and out of multiplayer games. Other modes like HDR Effect - Reader Mode & sRGB Mode gives the user the edge for entertainment & work related uses.But the best of them all... "My Favorite" = "Vibrant Mode" this mode (in my opinion) is excellent for Movie watching and especially for single player open world Games like The Witcher 3 & Red Dead Redemption 2, and also The Last of Us 2 which I'm currently playing on my PS5 and it's Gorgeous running at 2160p/60FPS due to the wonderful radiant colors and finely tuned gamma/contrast ratio!. I could ramble on about how good this monitor is but I'm sure you get the point.Now for the other Truth: My only warning to anyone who loves to use monitors in the darkest of rooms will of course notice there is some IPS glow from the edges of the screen and some minor backlight bleeding. So to those who might be wondering what does that mean? It means the deep blacks within videos/movies that appear on screen look more like very dark grey and at bad angels there is shiny reflections/glowing from the corners of the screen but for games you can work around that with built in features/options as I described above. Also easy fix is to just turn on a lamp or burn some candles which will brighten up the room a little thus negating some of the IPS glow. But with that said this small downside does not have a negative impact on me with my every day enjoyment/experience with it, but it might for someone who like I said, "Really Loves" to watch scary horror flicks or prefers to work/edit in the dark. Overall: This LG UltraGear QHD LED IPS Monitor is a premium (Savage!) For the $400+ price-tag this is one of the top 5 best of the best gaming monitors you can buy hands down!!. Excellent monitor

Just note, I went through 2x Alienware AW3420DW's and while are easthetically stunning, both had QA issues like dead pixels and yellow hue gradients. After my speedy refund from Dell I opted for this LG. Wow. Firstly, the uniformity is great. No weird colours on white etc. Looks great. Zero dead / stuck pixels. The contrast is miles better in games, especially with their factory made preset" HDR Effect" which by the way looks much better than HDR400. If you get this monitor, ignore using HDR400 in games and just use HDR effect with in the monitor OSD. The refresh rate is also fantastic at 144hz with a 160hz overclock. I use 10bpc for my design work and 8bpc / 160hz for some fast paced FPS games like Apex. Yes, the for a 1000 quid screen, we "should" be getting some rotate and swivel on the stand, however I wouldn't have used that anyway. On the slight downside, I do have some noticeable BLB in the corners on very dark backgrounds, but I have never owned an IPS panel that doesn't. They also supply a really short DP cable. Common LG, 1000 pounds! Nevertheless. A superb monitor with excellent speed, smoothness and colour.

The monitor came well packaged with accessories neatly packed in a separate cardboard carton; these included a display port cable, hdmi cable, USB cable for the 2 port USB hub and the power brick and cables. Assembling and setting the monitor up was really easy, with clear instructions on the box. The build quality of the monitor is excellent. The stand, whilst plastic, is strong and stable and I found the cable management slot effective to keep cables out of the way and tidy. Be aware that this monitor's stand does not swivel left and right (which I found a bit of a pain when accessing the ports at the back - although it is a minor niggle only), nor does it pivot. I found the height and tilt adjustments to be good for my needs. Out of the box, this monitor really impressed me: the colours were excellent if overly saturated and brightness levels are very good indeed (with good adjustments for both bright rooms and dimly lit rooms, or using the monitor at night. Using the displayport connection, the panel overclocked easily to 160Hz in the OSD; however, this is at 8 bit RGB only (without chroma subsampling). At all other refresh rates it is 10 bit (8bit +FRC). I have not used the HDMI connection as yet. This is my first ultrawide. I had previously bought a 27" 4k 144Hz Acer monitor from a different retailer and I found it had too many compromises including the need for scaling, a maximum of 98Hz whilst maintaining 10 bit colour (8 bit + FRC) and some screen flickering. I found none of these issues with this monitor. The 3440 x 1440p resolution of this ultrawide is sharp and the picture quality is excellent, with no flicker. The On Screen Display is easy to navigate and use thanks to the little joystick under the LG logo on the front of the monitor. Alternatively you also have the option of using the LG OSD software, if you prefer. This is also the means to upgrade the firmware, although you do need to have connected the USB hub to your PC for this feature to work. There were no dead pixels at all out of the box and very little IPS glow. The G-Sync compatible adaptive sync works well with my NVIDIA graphics card and leaves me able to choose either AMD or NVIDIA when I next upgrade my GPU. The delivery from OverclockersUK was fast. Overall, I am very pleased with this monitor and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality monitor for gaming, video and photo editing, and general usage. It is expensive, but I feel it is worth it for my needs.

Great G-SYNC 2K gaming monitor for the price

For the money, this is an excellent 2K gaming monitor. Since I use nVidia, having the G-SYNC compatibility really does optimize this monitor. If you are going to use HDR, make sure you have a GOOD graphics card, such as the GTX 3060 series. DisplayPort and HDMI are standard, but I always recommend DisplayPort for gaming over HDMI. The smoothness of the graphics on screen is wonderful, and I have not seen any issues on the borders of the screen while using my computer on Windows or playing games. LG makes some nice monitors, and I recommend them overall. The reason for 4 out of 5 stars is for the monitor you can sometimes get the same or a little better currently, but this is still a really good monitor. Great all rounder that is worth the extra $$

This monitor is a great all-rounder.I came from a Samsung CRG90 49" I found 49" was just a little too large for what I was working on and missed having multiple monitors.34" seems to be the sweet spot of real estate for windows and good resolution for games without losing too much depth.My unit did come with a single stuck pixel, only presenting on black images.I ran a pixelrepair for several hours with no luck. I also found LG's stand much smaller/ taking less space on desk than Acer's as it's stand is flatter.Cons: New LG's monitor stand does not turn left or right. Yes, 1000 monitor does not have the option to turn! I know majority of people will not use this option but I am, and I cannot. That's a big one for me. Now I need to think about some sort of arm stand. Monitor comes pre-calibrated but as with every monitor you should calibrate it yourself other way around this on will make you blind. The colours are so saturated and bright that it's blinding. I spent hours to calibrate it (without a hardware, because I don't own it) but the result was worth it.I recommend this monitor to every widescreen lover. Productivity is fantastic, colours ultrarealistic and gaming is on another level.
