I bought this pan specifically for making pizza and boy does it ever make pizza!!!!One of the nicest things about cast iron pizza is that you don't have to preheat the oven for 45 minutes or so like you do with a stone.I make my own dough and sauce and when the dough is ready to bake, I put this pan on a low burner and let it warm up while I'm spreading the dough and topping it. I then pop it in a preheated oven. No fuss. No muss. No peels, paddles, screens, sticking, or stones to fight with!!!!!2 things if you think you'd like to try this. I like thick pizza. I've never tried it with a thin dough. If you're hesitant about being able to get it out of the pan, line your pan with parchment and leave enough hanging over the edge so you'll have handles.I own ... This is my first bakers skillet. Love it! Perfect for cornbread, pizzas, pies or cobblers. I like having the assist handles. I put 2 coats of seasoning on right after receiving it & before cooking, even though I didn't really have to. Lodge makes good cast iron cookware & I'm proud to add this piece to my growing collection of Lodge cast iron!I also must say, treat this baby right & it'll stay in your family for generations. I have 4 Lodge skillets from my great grandmother. I'm the 4th generation to cook in those pans & I'm sure I won't be the last.

Wonderful pan! I personally don't find it too heavy at all, just right. Regardless of how many people you're cooking for, a 12" skillet should be in your arsenal. This particular pan "disappeared" over the holidays with notices of not available at this time. Not even Lodge had it on their website. I was thrilled to find it on walmart.com. It was also delivered more than a week earlier than was quoted. It should be noted, Walmart is selling the very same Lodge skillet for $34.00 less than Amazon
I wish I could give this ten stars! This is by far the greatest skillet I’ve ever used - and I always used Calphalon prior to this. This pan is extremely well made, it has a smooth surface, it heats quickly and evenly and it’s so easy to care for! I wish I’d not waited SO long to try it but frankly, I feared caring for this little beauty. It’s not lightweight, it’s heavy duty and will go from burner to oven for so many years my son will actually inherit this! Amazingly, I find myself using this nearly daily! I wish I hadn’t waited so many years because I feared I wouldn’t be able to care for it properly. It’s SO EASY! Wash with clear water, dry, coat lightly with canola oil, throw it in the oven on 250 degrees, set the timer for 30 minutes, shut the ... MoreI wish I could give this ten stars! I'm not one to leave reviews typically but I just have to with with purchase! I've been wanting to purchase a Cast Iron skillet for a while now but I was unsure what brand to get or if that even mattered. I did my research on this Brand as well as some others that got pretty pricey! The price for the size of this pan was fantastic! I pulled the trigger and purchased it. It us pre-seasoned but I decided to follow the instructions for the oven seasoning method if the Lodge website and did 2 extra rounds of it. Perfect! I have used it almost everyday since and NOTHING has stuck and it cooks beautifully! Don't over pay! Lodge is the way to go for Cast Iron and I have no regrets!

Grilled cheese comes out better in an iron skillet--more brown and crusty. I love my pan! I also love the handles on this pan. I don't miss the long handle at all. Having the short handles makes this pan easier to store, and no long handle to get in the way of other pots on the stove. However, I did do my own seasoning to it several times before I used it. I also own and use frequently a Lodge 10" skillet which I seasoned myself. This pan makes wonderful cornbread. Personally, I don't like Lodge's preseasoning--it sucks. I know that Stargazer makes a plain and a preseasoned 10" pan that the customer can choose between, but they make only a 10" skillet. The price for a Stargazer is about $80, and they are made in the USA. I do love my Lodge skillets, though, especially since the seasoning has built up on them.
I got this skillet and fried some chicken in it and it turned out so good and browned perfectly. My family loved the chicken. I did not have to season this skillet as I had to do with others. Cleaning this skillet was a breeze. It was a little heavy as others had said but nothing I could not handle.
Big enough to cook pork chops, vegetables, apples, steaks, and other meal portions. Lack of a long handle means I can use it inside my large convection toaster oven (biggest I found was the Hamilton). While I quickly rinse under very hot water and wipe with wet cloth, I follow with a coat of veggie oil to preserve finish, and store with a lid cover over the pan to prevent dust and lint accrual. I add a little oil during cooking to prevent water in food from causing sticking and rust. After about 3 years, I toss the coated pans as the coating has been lost or becomes too not non-stick. I have other cast iron skillets, and have had them for decades.
This is the Perfect cast iron skillet! It is first of all Lodge. The name alone guarantees quality. What I like most is the two handled feature. Cast iron pans are heavy. The two handles make it much easier to maneuver on the stove and in and out of the oven. It also fits very nicely on the table for serving! This skillet cleans easily and seasoning is very easy as well. I absolutely LOVE this skillet! It is an excellent “first cast iron” piece as well as an addition to a cast iron set. BUY IT...you will love it too!!!
