Although the sparse documentation suggests that the headset supports only stereo sound on Xbox, recent XBox software updates allow you to enable Windows Sonic for Headphones to provide software simulated surround sound. I found the Xbox experience to be at least as good as the official MS headset, probably better sounding and certainly more comfortable over the long haul.On PC, I installed the included USB DAC. Windows 10 identified the device correctly and installed drivers automatically and the set worked just fine. Although I didn't see this in the directions, Logitech also has "Logitech Gaming Software" which according to the G433 product page on their website must be installed in order to activate the 7.1 effect via the USB DAC. I tried the set with and without the Logitech software, and the Logitech drivers definitely do make a difference. My comments about quality are based on usage with the software installed. On the PC, the USB DAC provided subjectively high quality sound. While I didn't try to do formal tests of distortion or other metrics, the setup sounded great to my ears with no discernible background hiss and very clear, smooth audio rendering. I tested the positional audio in multiple games and the effect worked quite well for me. I could definitely tell the direction from which in-game voices and ambient sounds were coming. In Far Cry 4 the effect was especially pronounced and I could clearly hear the sound moving among the 7 potential positions. That said, there are also some occasional processing artifacts related to the Logitech software, none of which I heard without those drivers installed. The primary one I noticed is that some sounds, especially voices, occasionally had an over-processed sound and/or echo to them. It sounded a bit like they were in a tunnel even though the game environment may have been out in the open. I suspect the drivers will get updated with time.Overall, I really like these headphones. The quality of sound and construction is great, they open weave fabric makes them cool to wear, and they come with a solid range of accessories that were clearly made with gamers in mind. Even the connecting audio cable is nicely made with a woven fabric cable cover that should resist kinking and fraying. The occasional processing artifacts in the software keep this set from earning a 5-star rating, but I think this will improve with time and the set is still enjoyable to use even with this minor issue. If you enjoy PC gaming, this is a great choice. If you want a great PC 7.1 headset that also handles console play, this is a slam dunk.

This headset does not do 7.1 surround when connected to a console.Third, the cable is comically short for being a wired PC headset. Interestingly they included a second one to use with phones, but the one they specifically have as a PC headset wire is not longer. The boom mic is detachable, which I have my reservations about having experienced other headsets with detachable boom mics where that is the single point of failure for the whole system, so I'm hoping this will not be a repeat performance. Admittedly, those were not logitech headsets. It comes with a nice cloth carry bag and a separate cloth carry bag for the wires, I imagine they have it in mind people will take this with them when they go console gaming. The sound itself is actually quite good. I get more bass out of this headset than most that I've experienced with the exception of the super-high-end. The logitech gaming application has a 7.1 surround demo which sounds cool and displays what the headset's virtual surround can do for the most part, the bass portion of the demo left me wonder if my face was vibrating. As for outside of that, I did experience the surround in some games if I was paying attention, but it didn't really stand out.Bottom line, if you want a cool looking stereo headset with virtual surround capabilities, that sounds good and is reasonably comfortable to wear, then this is up your alley. It does a good job at what it does, without being terribly stellar.

Logitech support could not offer any assistance or refund since it had just passed the 2 year warranty period. Very disappointing.

Great gaming headphones
14 August 2017

When I first unboxed the Logitech G433 headphones, they looked nice with the blue camo coloring, but the feel of the earcups made me think that they might be cheaply made. The headphones come equipped with a pair of cloth covered earcups, but those can be swapped out for an included set covered in a micro-fiber type material. Although both sets feel a bit flimsy, this is to reduce the overall weight of the headphones and to keep your head cool for long gaming sessions. The headband is fully adjustable and the earcups rotate, so combined with the light-weight earcups, the headphones can be worn for hours with no real issues... even if you wear glasses.Connecting the headphones to my laptop was fairly simple: attaching the removable boom mic (which is a nice feature ... MoreWhen I first unboxed the Logitech G433 headphones, they looked nice with the blue camo coloring, but the feel of the earcups made me think that they might be cheaply made. The headband is fully adjustable and the earcups rotate, so combined with the light-weight earcups, the headphones can be worn for hours with no real issues... even if you wear glasses.Connecting the headphones to my laptop was fairly simple: attaching the removable boom mic (which is a nice feature for traveling) and setting up the USB cabling took only a few minutes. The headphones can also be connected through the headphone/mic jacks, but to get the 7.1 surround sound you need to use USB. There's also a cable for use with a mobile device, but I haven't tried that since I don't use a headset with my phone when I'm at my house. I also installed the Logitech software which allows you to fine tune the surround settings to your own taste. The software also allows you to control any other Logitech devices (mice, keyboards, etc) from one location, which is nice.To start, I listened to some music and watched a few videos, and although the sound from the headphones was good, it lacked a bit of clarity at times when compared to some of the other headphones I have that are marketed primarily for those purposes. Don't get me wrong, these headphones sound good when listening to music, but when I used them for gaming, it was clear that was their niche; the sound in every game I've tried so far is great. Even though the earcups allow a bit more outside noise in, the sound that's delivered more than makes up for it. The mic is also crystal clear according to others in my Teamspeak channels. As of now, I'm not using any of my other headphones for gaming.Overall, I'm extremely pleased with these headphones. They're light, comfortable, keep my head much cooler than my other headphones, and the sound when gaming is much better than any other headphones I have. If you're looking for a moderately priced set of gaming headphones, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these.

Had these for over two years at this point, had a pair of Sennheiser PC360 before. I personally would not be able to go back to a pair of normal stereo headphones, but would like to have virtualized sound. I would say these are a bit more versatile as they work well for film and music. The comfort is quite ok, not quite as good as my previous Sennheisers.Couldn't go back to a pair of wired headphones either though. Unfortunately, they squeak a bit when you move your head, which I would probably say is the biggest drawback. For the price tag, however, they are very good.

May Be Great One Day, But Not Now

Let me start by saying that I am a huge Logitech fan. I have owned so many Logitech products over the years that I could probably fill a Logitech museum. I have also been very impressed lately with the Logitech team and their pushing of the envelope both in their mainline products as well as forging new ones (their new Spotlight presenter device is phenomenal), but as the saying goes, if you don't fail every now and then, you aren't trying hard enough. Unfortunately, the G433 Gaming Headset is that failure, at least for me.I have a ton of headphones (gaming, general, and audiophile) and I was able to A/B compare these headphones with others from across that spectrum and they fell to every single one in each match up. The main headphones that I used to test against were some Turtle Beach x11s with the Earforce DSS system, some Sennheiser HD558s, and some Turtle Beach XO Fours.First let me let you know how I intended on using them. I wanted them as a nice set of headphones to use not only with PC games on my laptop but also on my Xbox One. These headphones are only 7.1 on Windows PCs and are just stereo on game systems or a Mac.Let's start with how they work as a PC gaming headphone. This one is easy, THEY DON'T. They work if you just plug them in to the headphone jack and use them as a stereo headset but if you try to use the USB dongle that allows the 7.1 surround sound, it will not work. I tried it out both on my brand new Samsung Notebook 9 Pro running Windows 10 as well as my work computer running Windows 7 (yeah I know, I've been yelling at the IT guys for a while now to come up to speed). Every time I tried to use the USB dongle with the associated Logitech Gaming Software that you need to enable the 7.1 settings, the sound system would completely freeze. I tried multiple different ways to make it work but could not find a way that did not cause the sound system to lock-up every time. Perhaps the software isn't ready for prime time and a future update will clear everything up, but as it stands right now, I am unable to use them to their full ability on my PC.Now for the Xbox. I have hooked these up directly into the new Xbox controller as well as into two different Surround Sound DACs (the Turtle Beach one as well as the Astro Mixamp Pro). In all cases the sound was inferior to that produced by either pair of Turtle Beach headphones or the Sennheisers plugged in the same way. I will say that there is a strong possibility that I have a defective plug with these headphones but that is not conclusive. I say this because I can get radically different sounds from these headphones just by rotating the plug in the socket. It would seem that, at least with these systems, it can not make a perfect connection every time. If that is the case, then this review may be biased by that fact. Without purchasing another pair, which I am not inclined to do at this point, I can't really tell what the problem is. They didn't seem to have this problem with the PCs but none of the other headphones had this problem on the Xbox. All I can say is that the headphones seem to range from either very boomy with all the detail lost in the bass or the sound is so weak that you have to strain to hear some elements of the game. Either way, it made for a not very fun gaming experience while using them.Where Logitech DID really succeed is in bringing a lot of value along with these headphones. For a $99 headphone, Logitech provides a nicely made, comfortable, and stylish set of headphones. The supplied accessories are also very nice. From the carry bag to the cable bag, to the extra set of velour earpads, to the nice cabling with fabric sheathing, everything is spot on. Speaking of those velour earpads, I would definitely swap those out first thing. The pair on the headphones when you get them use the same fabric as the rest of the headphone covering and can feel a bit rough (at least to my ears) but the other pads that are supplied are much softer but do retain a bit more heat so your ears might get a bit sweatier during game play.To wrap things up, are these bad headphones? No, but they don't live up to what they are supposed to or even what I normally expect from Logitech. In the near future with some improved software could they be much better, yes but probably only for the PC. But then again, I may have a faulty cable. Either way, if I am able to find a fix for any of these problems, I will update my review accordingly but right now the G433s just don't cut it.

Misses the mark on comfort ...

After breaking these cans in for several weeks I can say that I am honestly shocked at how well they perform/sound. They could use a tad bit more gain to their maximum volume output but I won't dock the overall rating for it - as many of the current offerings of head sets have this same issue. The inline volume dial is nicely placed.I'm not a huge fan of the typical driver software that accompanies gaming head sets but Logitech has actually done a nice job integrating the controls for the G433's into their already mature Gaming Software app and the various controls are intuitive and straight forward. I am also wary to the effect many software installations for peripherals can have on an operating system and pay close attention to Event logs. I can confidently report that the Logitech software doesn't cause errors or disrupt Windows in any noticeable way.Good job Logitech!I ran through many of the games in my Steam library and found them all to sound on par with the Steel Series cans I had been using. The sound field was very spacial, dynamic and immersive. The pseudo surround mode works but not to my liking - but that is a common problem and I have yet to find a head set that does a good job with simulated surround sound - so I won't hold anything against this particular head set.The construction is solid except for one major aspect - the head band. Personally I prefer head sets that incorporate an inside suspension band. The G433's feel solid in hand, I like the detachable microphone and the ear cups articulate nicely to match the contours of a head - but the solid head band as designed is very uncomfortable after just 1 hour of game play. That's really unfortunate. With head shapes being such a huge variable, your mileage may very, but the simplest solution would be for Logitech to design in a secondary suspension band - and then I would call this head set near perfect. Because of this I am deducting one star from my rating.SummaryFull fidelity and excellent control via software.Head set feels solid in hand and the articulating ear cups are very flexible - but both versions of the cup pads are very stiff when new - only time will tell on how well they break in and hold up to use.Restricted, top-end volume gain - but typical for the price point. The camo blue is very cool but I would prefer the red ones if I had a choice.Uncomfortable head band needs a redesign. The inside padding is inadequate and simply not good enough to support a long game play duration.I can only recommend this head set with the obvious caveat that there is potential for discomfort. Give them a try and see how they work out for you.

Poor Quality.

I bought this headset less than a year ago and so far it's been okay. The overall quality of the materials used is OKAY, but the design is extremely poor. 1/5 Just from normal use, my headset has cracked where each ear fastens to the band. It's apparently a common issue with these, which I wish I had known before purchasing. I recommend googling it. The comfort is about a 4/5, and the sound quality is decent, I'd say. 3/5. Overall the headphones lack bass though. One thing that's really terrible about these headphones is the Ghub software which is used with them. It will change your drivers on you without telling you. It also features a terrible UI, and is literally just bloatware. I do like how I can use these when I'm away from my computer, the detachable mic is pretty nifty. I'd recommend getting a set of professional grade headphones over these though. Especially for the money.

Stellar audio, but an uncomfortable design.

This headset is somewhat difficult to form an opinion on. I've used other Logitech gaming headsets in the past, and overall I've usually found them to be some of the better ones. But for whatever reason, I just found myself less than impressed with this particular version. It is definitely not for lack of features. The headset has just about everything you could want. Cables for USB, 3 pole mobile jacks, and paired 2 pole PC jacks, two microphone options, two sets of ear pads, an a carrying case for all of it. And taken individually, I really like the a lot of it. The audio quality is great (though as with most surround sound headsets can feel a little distant compared to plain stereo headsets) and both mics have good pickup and easy adjustment. The audio quality is great (though as with most surround sound headsets can feel a little distant compared to plain stereo headsets) and both mics have good pickup and easy adjustment. The whole thing is also very lightweight, more so than any other headset of this size I've tried. But these also at times feel a little like problems. The thing is so lightweight that at times I worry about it being too fragile to really take with me, which is supported by the fact that after a day of fairly light use I'd already begun to notice some cosmetic damage to some of the bits. One of the speakers also looks to have slipped out of its mountings, though it's possible that it just came like that and repair looks very straightforward. And I'm left feeling that I really preferred the older headsets that were heavier and didn't have the same bass response just because I didn't feel like they needed to be protected to keep from breaking. It also doesn't help that on my head (which admittedly has a hat size of XXL) it pinches right at the top of my jaw because there isn't enough play in the gimbal to sit flat against the sides of my head. Now, a lot of these issues are fixable. The carrying case that it comes with is essentially just a cloth bag, but if you've got something with even a bit of padding I wouldn't really worry about portability. And with regular use, the band is slowly starting to conform better to my head. I've also had friends who have difficulty with heavier units rave about the lightweight build being infinitely more comfortable. But in the end, my own mixed experiences with it keep me from wholeheartedly endorsing it for everyone.Basically, if you're mostly concerned with audio and weight, this is probably great for you. But if you're looking primarily for prolonged comfort (or just have a large head,) you might want to see if you can try one on before committing to the G433.

Wish they had more bass

Was expecting a bit more. They are pretty light but not that comfortable. They are also a bit bulky but can fold so don't take that much space. I wish they had more bass, the high frequencies are noticeably more predominant, Built quality is great for the price. Overall good product if you don't mind the lack of base and bulky design.
