We are talking about an 80 cents can compared to a $1. 50 one. Almost double the price. Both have no added salt. I drained and rinsed both cans. The presentation is quite similar. Same colour and condition of the pulses. I find that my regular ones are softer compared to the organic ones, that are much firmer, what is definitely a plus. My daughter described the usual ones more "watery" compared to the organic ones. There were more chickpeas' skins in the regular ones too. Personally the differences end there. The taste is quite similar. Comparing the labels, I notice that the organic ones contain more calories (80 calories per serving against 40 with the non-organic ones) more proteins (5. 6 g per serve against 3. 4 g) more total fat (0. 2 g against 0. 1) more fibre (6. 09 g against 3. 6 g) and more sodium (41 mg against 25 mg). The rest is quite similar. I find it quite "curious" that the sodium content is higher in the organic ones! I tried to find an explanation online, but I keep reading that organic products generally contain less sodium. To note that by rinsing and draining canned chickpeas, you significantly reduce the amount of sodium in them, up to 41% actually. It's something I always do. In that sense dried chickpeas are always the best option as they are essentially sodium-free. I decided to make a dish I regularly cook with my sample: a super-quick chickpea curry. I gently fried one onion, added the can of rinsed and drained chickpeas, some salt and turmeric powder, one sachet of tomato paste (another sample) (later I added another one) and some water. Cooked for 5 minutes, removed from heat, added two tablespoons of almond meal, served with riceThe chickpeas cooked beautifully, holding their shape, tasted very goodChickpeas are budget-friendly, taste delicious, are very good for your heart, an excellent source of protein. They've always been a part of my diet. As a child, chickpeas were always added to minestrone for example. Nowadays I add them regularly to salads too and they are always in my pantry. I use dried chickpeas too, but I must admit I love the convenience of canned ones. I enjoyed my sample but, because of the price and the higher sodium and fat content, I don't see myself buying it again. I highly recommend it though to people looking for an organic option!

Convenient, alternative source of protein. With the current price of meat and my limited income, I need to consider alternative sources of protein or, at least, ways to make my meat protein go further. I used Macro Certified Organic Chick Peas as an ingredient in Moroccan Lamb Shanks with Chickpeas. Full of wonderful herbs and spices, dried apricots, tomatoes and dates, this stunning dish originally called for “dried Chickpeas” but, who has time for soaking chickpeas, I ask you? I substituted the Macro Certified Organic Chickpeas and you couldn’t tell the difference. I made no adjustments to the cooking time and the dish was fantastic. There was so much sauce left over, I got another meal out of the sauce, served with Cous Cous. That’s good value, I’d say! I didn’t ... MoreConvenient, alternative source of protein. The can has a convenient ring pull, which I like. A nutritionally dense product, 1/2 cup of chickpeas has. 017 kj and 7 grams of protein, the equivalent of 30 grams of meat. Per average serve of 75 grams, the product provides 11% of the daily protein allowance and only 2% of the daily sodium allowance, so it’s a well balanced choice. Found in the Health Food aisle in my supermarket. I will definitely buy this product again. Thank you Bunch for the opportunity to try this product.

We’ll be Hap-Pea to use these again! We quite often use Chick Peas in cooking and we always use the cheap Woolworths brand so we were very happy to be offered this sample from Bunch. Whilst we have always found the regular Woolworths brand to be very good and more than sufficient on our budget, I can say that these were excellent and we could absolutely tell a difference. These Chick Peas appeared lighter in colour straight from opening the tin and they all seemed to have maintained their shape without any breakages. We used them in a Spaghetti Bolognese in the slow cooker, and once it was completed these Chick Peas were harder than the alternative brand. Handy to have. While I eat a lot of chick peas, I don’t think I’d bought this specific can of chick peas before. I had no trouble finding them at my local store. The tin was easy to open with the ring on top of the tin. The chick peas were full size and soft to eat so could be eaten straight from the tin. I added some to my salad for lunch (I usually cook chick peas from scratch to put in my salad) and they blended into my salad as I would expect. I also put some in my steamer and cooked them with some other mixed vegetables for dinner. The tin says that ½ cup is equal to 1 serve of vegetables and the serving size per can is approximately 3. This seems about right, depending on how much or how little someone eats. I like that there is no added salt, I don’t normally ... MoreHandy to have. It’s a good source of fibre and protein and is ACO certified organic. It has a 5 health star rating too. Priced at $1. 50 for 425g, I think it’s priced as well as other similar products. I would have expected it to be a bit more expensive being organic, so this was a bit of a surprise to me. It goes without saying that the can is recyclable, the only disappointing thing that I can take away from this is that it was produced in Italy. It’s a shame that this wasn’t an Australian product, I’d probably be happy to pay a bit extra for an Australian product. All up though, I was happy with this product and think it would be a handy item to have in the cupboard when I don’t have time to cook chick peas myself from scratch. Thank you Bunch for giving me the opportunity to sample this product.

Great tasting chickpeas. This is easily found in your canned veg & beans aisle at your local Woolies. I usually buy the dried version, but this is super handy to cook with straight away. This has the handy ring pull, which I always like. I really enjoyed the texture and flavour of these. I used the liquid in a recent recipe and it worked out a treat, gave more flavour to the dish. You don't need to cook these, so they'd be great in salads, baked with a few spices for crunchy chickpeas or in a recipe you're looking at adding chickpeas to and add them last, or even off the heat & just stir through. The chickpeas were uniform in size and has a nice visual appeal, no broken bits or mush in bottom of can. Great value. $1. 50 for a can of organic, no-added-salt chickpeas is a great price!I use a lot of chickpeas in my cooking, and so usually buy the dried ones, cook them up by the packet, and freeze them. However, for the times when I've run out and have forgotten to soak them, these canned ones come in very handy! Press into your greased pie dish, cover loosely with foil and bake at 180deg for 20 mins. It's then ready to fill and bake. Excellent Chickpeas. I love these Macro chickpeas, ingredients are just chickpeas 60% and water. No added salt, sugar or ascorbic acid as many other brands contain. They are a good price at $1. 50 per can especially as they are organic, but are imported from Italy with no mention where the chickpeas are grown . Really good! I use / eat a lot of chickpeas - they are a great source of protein and fibre - so was excited to receive this sample as I usually purchase the cheaper can (and can’t actually be bothered cooking them from scratch). Easy to find in the canned veg isle - the purple “certified organic” logo helps them stand out from the crowd. Can easy to open with a pull ring - as most cans are. In the curry - I thought I could tell the difference between different chickpeas - these held their shape better than then others, but that is just what I thought - difficult to know as really didn’t know which was which!Overall I think I am a convert - I will try a couple of additional recipes with these first but I think these are a winner. Thank you so much Bunch for this sample - love trying new things especially when they are a keeper!

Great staple. I love chick peas and always have a few tins in my pantry, so I was very happy to try this Macro organic chickpea sample and see if it stacked up. Found in the canned vegetable aisle, this product was easy to locate. The distinctive Macro packaging with the prominent purple organic label clearly identified this product as such. The ring pull made for easy opening. I used this sample in a delicious salad over the summer break (the Jen Aniston Salad for those wondering) as chickpeas are a key/hero ingredient in this dish. The chickpeas were uniform size, on the smaller side of the chickpea scale if I’m honest. They were firm and non floury. I found them to need salt, as this product is a no added salt product. Pantry staple. I always maintain a couple of cans of chick peas in my pantry for quick and easy use but as a rule I generally prefer to go with the dried ones as it works out cheaper but do take a bit more work. These are a product of Italy. I love the fact that it is a ring pull can and I didn't have to fight with the can opener and that the can is recyclable. Also they are certified organic with a 5 star health rating which are definitely both good things in that chick peas are a great source of vitamins and fibre and high in protein. The no added salt is also another good point for those having to watch their salt intake. Great for vegetarians as a replacement for meat in the diet. The no added salt is also another good point for those having to watch their salt intake. Great for vegetarians as a replacement for meat in the diet. I love to use chick peas in so many meals like tossed in a salad and these are ideal as they are firm and not soft which makes them perfect and also adding a nice taste. They are great in curries and also in any sort of casseroles to add a bit of bulk to make the meal go further and add that extra healthy touch. I would buy these again just to have on hand in the pantry for convenience of being able to grab them and use them straight from the can.
