I tested this product for over 3 weeks and it’s now part of my morning makeup routine. I really like how moisturizing this primer is! It gives you a soft glow without looking too oily, and it actually neutralizes some red/pink tones. I’ve been struggling with adult acne for a little more than a year, because of that my skin is always red. Either from the active pimples or from the dry areas. This primer probably helped covering some of my pink-ish from dry areas but not with my acne inflammation red (maybe im asking for too much). Also, this product contains fragrance, I found it refreshing and soft; however I know that could an issue for a lot of people. Overall it’s a great product for mild redness, great moisturizing primer. Fair price!

I have rosacea and this is my absolute favorite redness product that I’ve found. I’ve been using it for years now and will 100% keep buying it. It makes a noticeable difference without feeling like I’m piling layers and layers of product on my face. The texture is light and thin, so it wears beautifully under makeup. For me it can leave a bit of green streakiness behind if I’m not careful, which doesn’t matter at all under makeup, but can be noticeable when wearing it alone. But it truly does neutralize and lot of red in a really natural looking way. And it makes it so I don’t feel like I have to wear quite as much foundation or concealer, which is all I could ever ask for. I was very disappointed with this product and just didn't get the results I hoped. I don't even have that much redness, just around my nose, around my mouth and chin but the product had little effect neutralizing it. I was amazed at the results I saw in the women with rosacea who submitted her before and afters. I am at loss on why it could handle her significant redness but didn't touch mine. It doesn't seem like the type of product that is buildable but perhaps I need to try building up the product in my problem areas. I'm writing this after 2 weeks of use. I have used multiple corrector before but shade matching was always a big problem since I have a lighter Indian skin color that is perpetually tanned with a strong olive undertone. Nothing would match my dark spots around mouth. Either too dark or too pale. Add to that an oily skin & a mask. Anything would just slide off my skin & leave patches worst than my dark spots. This primer is a holy grail. But you have to use it only on bare skin. Unlike other contractors it goes under foundation not above it. Set it with a powder & you won't even need a concealer!!!!!

I first tried this by applying to only one half of my face and neck without any additional makeup products. While my redness was not completely cancelled, this made a noticeable difference on the side I applied it and lasted for several hours. This primer has a very faint smell, but I only noticed when I dispense this from the tube and not while it is on my face. I feel like this color is softer than a lot of the other green color correctors I've tried. It says natural finish, but I feel like it borderlines matte, which is probably my biggest complaint. I feel like I have to match this up with a foundation that is more dewy, or just wear it over a hydrating moisturizer. When I have time to do my makeup, I use this and I will finish it. I feel like it does a pretty good job of covering up my redness and doesn't show through my foundation. I like the color and texture of this primer. It does lay down the light green color evenly and it smooths out on my skin and conceals my redness a bit. It is not a major color corrector. I did build it up in a few areas where I have Lupus induced redness due to flare activity and it covered well enough, but not entirely. It looks really natural and when I put my skin tint over the top, I was happy with the result. The only thing I don’t like is that there is like this cooling sensation that I picked up on when I applied it. Not to mention the fragrance in it—I’m not sure about those additions to the formula. I am worried about it causing irritation in the near term. So far so good though!
This primer is said to instantly even out skin tone while smoothing the skin and neutralize redness. Also, it is lightweight, long lasting (claims to correct redness for 24hrs) and be suitable for dry, normal, combo and oily skin. I have dry skin with redness and I definitely feel that this does a really good job at evening out my skin tone and red areas. I can’t speak to it lasting 24hours, but do feel it will last a good amount time on its own and under makeup. The con for me is that this is heavily scented and the scent does last awhile. If I am have an Excema flare up this would not be ideal to wear and I am honestly not a fan of the scent. This would definitely rate higher with me in an unscented version and then I would recommend to others with my type of skin.
I have rosacea so I’m always on the search for a neutralizing primer. This made me very excited to try Make Up For Ever’s redness corrector step 1 primer. I was so impressed upon initial application!! Literally no redness. Very exciting stuff for me! I applied my foundation (Dior Backstage Face and Body) and it looked great! No pilling and even somewhat blurring! Unfortunately, my face felt like I had rubbed chili pepper all over it by the time I was done with my makeup.
