The 36v DC motor delivers more power and run time without leaving the 18v Lithium-ion platform. I am a 75 year old woman buying my first chainsaw. Ive bought it because it is lightweight even with the 2 batteries in it. I feel safe with the brake bar and very easy start buttons ( no rope to pull). I use it in the garden to cut down dead limbs or small trees and find it powerful but very controllable. Its also very easy to maintain, by taking apart to clean after use or touch up the Chain following the instructions in the manual.
Very handy saw, easily manoeuvred and quite an aggressive chain. Good buy and very well made.

Nicely balanced and easy to use. Battery life extremely good and above my expectations. Easy to fit and adjust chain. Used to cut down several trees with trunks in excess of 13". Although the chain is only 10" it was no problem.
This saw is designed to be used by trained tree surgeons ONLY but due to the lack of chain speed and cumbersomeness it is not up to the task. It does not compare to Makitas other battery operated saws at all which I would recommend.
Easy to use just charge batteries and off you go pleasantly surprised
