I don't know what a genuine Makita charger looks like or how good they work. So I'm totally ok with this one at this great price. It charged up my 6 amp battery in about 2 hours which is more than acceptable. I will say it is surprisingly light for its size; not a complaint just an observation. From what everyone else says, why spend 2 to 3 times the money just to say you have an oem one?

I like the rapid charger because it takes only 30 min. to recharge my batteries. However, this unit hums when it is on and very annoying. My regular charger which came with the leaf blower does not hum like this one. That is why you get only 4 stars from me.

Was not an 8foot hilti cord. But a 6 foot piece of junk cord without proper plugs on end of cord to fit hilti switch. Ended up throwing it in the garbage. Completely dissatisfied!!!!#!!!! What a ripoff!!!!
This is a genuine RAPID charger for Makita Batteries. This thing charges CRAZY fast and is very lightweight. There is a big difference between this charger and the ones that do not charge FAST. Look for the model # that has RC in it (Rapid Charger). It also has the little clock/speed symbol in the bottom right corner. This listing shows two different chargers, but I can assure you the model number and ACTUAL charger is the correct one. You wont be disappointed. Really good deal here.
I needed one more charger since I'm charging several batteries during the day. I got this one because its described as a "rapid battery charger". Well, it charges batteries just fine, but I wouldn't call it "rapid". I run 3.0Ah 18V batteries and it takes about 35-45 minutes to go from dead to a full charge, which is the same as my old chargers that aren't "rapid chargers". Overall, it does what its intended to do, it just doesn't do it any faster, that's why only 3 stars.
This is the third one I buy. I keep one with each of my cordless tools so I always have a charger while working. Great price for this charger. Picture is slightly different from what I received. Same model number. Picture shows clear plastic slide, the one I got I has a green slide.
Its not bad, it's not good. It plays classical music when you connect the battery, and Mozart when it's finished charging. The charger does work, and the music entertaining, however the circuit board is smaller than the makita, and lacks a cooling fan to cool the inside electronics, and battery. IF THE MANUFACTURER READS THIS, PUT A COOLING FAN IN AND IT WILL GET A 5 STAR.
The charger took well over an hour to charge a new 3 amp/hour Makita battery. The print out in the box said it would only take only 22 minutes. This causes me to have many doubts about how this charger will perform over time?!
I misplaced my original charger, and needed a replacement. This one charges faster than my original because of the cooling fan, and the batteries are charged to the same output, according to my multimeter. It is also smaller so I can keep more stuff in the drill bag. Even though I did find my original two days after receiving this charger, i wouldn't have sent it back even if I hadn't used it. I'll keep this one in the bag, and the other in my shop.
