Well built, and well designed, for what it does. With good speakers, maybe a sub, and good sources, this is an excellent hub for a second HT/entertainment system. Plenty of power for my large bedroom. Video switching (with ARC, HDCP, and 8K upscaling) is excellent, although you will need to work through the set-up menu to get what you want. I don't have a broadcast source like cable/sat or local tuner stations, so everything is streaming or off a disc. That meant some of the set-up language needed closer scrutiny, at least for me. Nice feature that you can edit the input list and names, so you only have to switch among the options you are using. Both optical and coax digital inputs are available, though I'd have liked two of each, personally. Still uses Marantz RCA ... MoreWell built, and well designed, for what it does. Still uses Marantz RCA remote (trigger) ins and outs, although some brands were going in other directions, so you might need an adapter. Wi-fi hook-up was easy.Sound is classic Marantz house sound, even without break-in. I happen to be a fan. Warm, detailed, and coming from a dark (silent) background. My Parasound standmounts love it. Older Infinity Kappa towers were maybe a little too demanding (which was expected), but more efficient and sensitive towers would work fine. Still, reproduced lower octaves well with the Kappas. Very lifelike soundstage, with a little tweaking. Forget surround speakers or sound bars; spend your money on good stand mounts and a modest sub, and you will be pleased.

What a great receiver! Just using it to power four speakers and a multi-disk CD player and the sound is amazing. Very easy to set up. Lovely to look at and is compact in size. Haven't had to adjust the levels, bass or treble since I first set it up. Sound is clear, strong, trebles are clean, bass is clear. Listen mostly to classical music, especially guitar, and it sounds as if the guitarist is in the open living room [with a very high ceiling]. Couldn't be more impressed. I realize that I am under utilizing all it's myriad abilities and one day will avail myself of them but for today I can highly recommend this Marantz Stereo 70s for its traditional function as an excellent stereo receiver.

This Stereo 70S is so nice to look at, as are all the new Cinema styled Marantz pieces. It is in my kitchen, and as can be seen, is paired with Definitive Technology D7 bookshelf speakers (amazing gems.) Suffice to say this is a wonderful piece of audio/video jewelry, it is so gorgeous looking, and the sound is clean, very musical, and I would say accurate to the source. My wife uses this system and she loves it! HEOS connects with it perfectly, and I am so happy she is enjoying great sounding music! The fact that you can have 2 pair of speakers with this unit, either playing separately or together, is a really nice feature that I know will be used eventually. The new remotes are so nice and solid feeling as well, and the knobs on the front turn with the heft and ... I bought the Marantz S70 to replace an aging Marantz MC-R611 which while still sounding pretty good through my Dali Zenzor speakers, was becoming a challenge to use with different streaming services and suddenly very poor DAB performance.I have no need for a full AV system and the reviews of the Stereo 70s suggested it would be perfect for me. It is! Setup was a doddle - all the HDMI connections I'd ever need. The DAB works very well. I'm still using the Dali Zenzor speakers and the improvement in audio quality - clarity and depth is astonishing compared to the old MCR611. I may upgrade my speakers one day, but for now it sounds like I have! Integration with streaming services works well, although the HEOS app is a little confusing (probably me) It found my NAS ... I may upgrade my speakers one day, but for now it sounds like I have! Integration with streaming services works well, although the HEOS app is a little confusing (probably me) It found my NAS and connected perfectly and as I can now see the catalog etc on the TV, it makes streaming my music collection so much easier. It's added a whole new dimension to my TV audio too.The illuminated remote looks good and works well. The Marantz App works. I had the older version for the MCR611. I'd expected the newer version to be a lot better. It's functional, but not at all great.I'm astonished by the improvement in the sound quality through my old speakers compared to my previous system. The Stereo 70s really does deliver.
Well this produces a astonishing crisp clean sound. But having major connection issues. It looses Bluetooth connection its hours to get it connected again. Crutchfield has awesome support with people who speak English you can understand. I spent hours on the phone and we have not solved the issue yet. Only thing i find to critical is it relying on the television too much. It seems to automatically take over the tv sound. Now i can't get it to get settings on tv. I've updated all the software via a friend phone so don't dare to do yet another factory reset. Getting it all working ok it would deserve 5 stars because of beautiful sound it produces! You order this make sure ya have a hmdi cable long nuff to reach your tv ...
I keep coming back to Richer Sounds not only for the wealth on knowledge the staff have, or the price matching/ beating pledge, but because I feel safe buying goods. In particular, if there is a problem or I am, for some reason, unhappy with my purchase. In the case of the Marantz Stereo 70s, I only became aware of its existence after I’d just bought an AudioLab 7000n Play for streaming, along with a pair of Rel T/5x subwoofers. When I spoke, via e-mail to Rob, the manager of RS Southampton, he was understanding and very accommodating. I was able to exchange the new Audiolab 7000n Play for the Marantz Stereo 70s, paying the difference. As one was delivered the other was taken back by DPD courier. I was able to exchange the new Audiolab 7000n Play for the Marantz Stereo 70s, paying the difference. As one was delivered the other was taken back by DPD courier. The Marantz Stereo 70s replaced both the AudioLab and my Rotel A11 Tribute amp. Nothing wrong with either of them, but the Marantz has more ‘oompfh’ at 75w per channel, and includes AirPlay 2. Thus far, it’s been an absolute delight, powering Monitor Audio Silver 100s and a pair of Rel T/5x subwoofers. The Marantz has two sub outs, which I’m finding better than the Rel (obsession with) high level cables, which for some reason kept on getting a jump start from my adjacent Sonos Sub-Mini. The Marantz with the above gear produces a wide sound stage and bass like dark chocolate. Even when listening to music with little or no bass, there is something subtle added, which enhances the sound. Play the same track with the subs off, and I can easily hear that difference. The Marantz also works very well with my Rotel C11 Tribute CD player, letting me hear things I have never been aware were there previously. One thing I would also like to mention for those who might get caught out as I did when setting up the Marantz with the Interweb is that there comes a point where it asks you to press Okay, to complete what you have just input using the remote control. The ‘okay’ they mean is to be found on the Maranz porthole display, by using the remote’s arrow keys. NOT the physical ‘Okay’ button on the remote.
When my old stereo receiver no longer worked, I called Crutchfield. I explained to Dutch, my advisor, that I needed to power my 1974 vintage Ohm F speakers (4 ohm resistance) and wanted to pipe the sound from my Sony OLED TV through the system. I thought I would need a home theater system to do this, even though I only had two speakers. Dutch designed an incredible component package consisting of a Marantz Stereo 70s used as a pre-amp paired with an AudioControl Rialto 400 amp that would deliver the 200 amps per channel that my speakers required. Oh boy, did Dutch get it right! Both components have many customization controls so it took some patience and trial and error to get the properly system set up. But I was able to precisely balance the new system to suit the room. I didn't skimp on the connection cables, either. Dutch recommended AudioQuest cables with sufficient shielding to protect the signals from the noise generated by all that power. Now I have a live concert hall in my living room. The music played through this system is so exquisite that it actually brings tears to my eyes! Thank you Dutch, Marantz, AudioControl and AudioQuest!
After several years of enjoying my Yamaha network receiver, it lost the ability to play BBC radio Internet and latterly another of my favourite stations. Similarly, it didn't have DAB which made me consider upgrading it or adding something like a WIIM pro plus (but doesn't have DAB).I toyed with the newer Rn-600a from Yamaha and this Marantz, I blindly chose the Marantz on the fact that it has the convenience factor of HDMI inputs and being a bit peeved with Yamaha not being able to cope with the service change.Overall, I'm pleased with what I hear from the Marantz, my wife who is really that bothered commented on the clarity of the presentation, it seems to fizz with a brightness, together with a wide stereo presentation compared to the Yamaha. As this and the ... The Marantz has an AVR app for general settings and HEOS for the network side of things.Music cast is more of a chose your source and navigation of streamable services but, in my opinion is smoother. I must add that I'm of an age where technology changes don't come easy.On reflection, I suspect that adding a WIIM pro plus to the original Yamaha would have sufficed but the change of sound and convenience of DAB has been a welcome upgrade.Weigh up how much you need HDMI switching via the amp, it's probably not crucial. To sum up, I'm happy with the sound, after all, that's the main reason for buying it.Recommended.
I've had it a few days. I set it up with Polk ES60 floor standing speakers. A denon turntable. Was a bit worried about the power output for those speakers but need not have. Amazing crisp clear deep lifelike sound. Really much better than my former Sonos amp (which died acutely during a power cut). People say you need a tv to set it up you actually don't - but tue set up admittedly is a bit easier using the tv and an HDMI cable. People also say the HEOS app is hard - if you can use an iPhone and know anything about customizing an app it's not. The app is a bit basic but the customization of Spotify, some radio stations, Amazon music and Apple airplay makes it very user friendly. It's a heavy unit suggesting quality! All in all very pleased.
Picked up this reciever and NR1200 to test side by side. Feel like this is likely a review a lot of people are looking forward to as there is very little out at the moment on this device.Excellent build quality and sounds as good as it looks especially with music. If you can force video to stream in stereo or "original" sound is great too. In the event you're watching a movie or show that is mixed for 5.1 or greater the device can sound hallow as there are not DTS or ATMOS mix options. HEOS / Apple Air Play / IOS Marantz remote app all work without any fuss. Sound is everything you would expect from Marantz. Running a pair of Klipsch 8000F II's and a REL T5X via high level connection.I'll be honest it was really difficult for me to make out significant difference between sound quality of this device vs the NR1200. The setup GUI was significantlly more well thought out and visually better on the 70s. The remote is miles ahead. The 70s is a better looking center piece and knobs have a thick "resistance" to them when they turn and don't feel cheap. My main input method is streaming to the device via Google's music services / Tidal / Phono / Optical to TV. The 70s ultimately sold me based on look and future proofing. The device really should be about 200.00 dollars cheaper though as the price tag is the biggest hurdle to get over. Would love to get a well though out review from a super user of this 70s that tested the 8k upscaling etc... I just don't have a use for it at this time.Would also really like to test this vs the cinema in the event that I give up on being a 2.1 enthusiast one day and would prefer 5.1 upgrade path.
