I have to say that I am pretty impressed with the Marshall Major III Bluetooth headphones. Marshall managed to check the majority of the boxes in terms of what I am looking for in a set of headphones. They were able to reproduce a surprising range of frequencies with the only exception being extremely low ones that would honestly require a subwoofer to be able to hear. And while they are not technically noise-cancelling, they do block out the majority of outside noise especially at higher volumes.My only real complaint is that I wish that the loudest these headphones would go was a just a bit louder. Personally, I believe that maximum volume should be reserved for short-term use like rocking out to your favorite tunes. And right after the song ends, you should have to ask yourself if you actually needed to have the volume that high. Plus these are made by Marshall, the first choice for many rock bands. Well unlike Spinal Tap's amplifiers, these headphones do not go to 11. Don't get me wrong, they do put out an impressive amount of sound, especially since they are wireless. It's just not a regrettable amount.Battery life:To put it bluntly, it is PHENOMENAL. At the time of this writing, I have had these headphones for about 3 weeks and during that period I've accumulated around 24 hours worth of total playtime. I fully charged these headphones the day I got them and have not charged them a single time since. And yet, they still show 80% battery remaining when connected to my cell phone. It is also worth mentioning that I've gotten this sort of battery life even while using them at 80% volume or above every time I put them on. I have never owned a set of headphones that offered anywhere even close to the battery life that the Major IIIs provide. I'll admit that I was skeptical of their "30 hours on a single charge" claim at first but not anymore. If anything, they're probably short-changing themselves by only claiming that.Use and comfort:These headphones are very comfortable to wear for extended periods, once you get them correctly adjusted to your head. Since these are on-ear headphones and not over-ear, I struggled to find that correct position as the Major IIIs rest right on my glasses. Also, after wearing them for about 45 minutes straight, I noticed that they tend to make my ears sweaty. Neither of these are deal breakers and may be issues only I have but I felt that they were worth mentioning.As for use, operating these headphones could not be simpler. The headphones quickly connected to both my phone and my laptop without issue or hesitation. Their Bluetooth range is also impressive; I've been over 20 feet away and in another room without having the audio cut out or skip. There is a bit of a learning curve with the single brass joystick control, mainly remembering what direction does what. Besides that, the joystick works fantastically and I prefer it to other control interfaces. Mostly because I don't accidentally issue the wrong command like I occasionally do with my other Bluetooth headphones. At the same time, the joystick feels robust and each action results in a satisfying click confirming your command.Other features:The Major IIIs come with a charging cable and a detachable 3.5mm cable with microphone with remote. This means that they can be used as wired headphones in the event that you somehow manage to use up all of the battery power. When I tried them out using the cable, they sounded just as good as they do when used wirelessly. A unique feature of these headphones is that you can plug another set of headphones into the 3.5mm jack. This allows you to share your music with a friend using a single Bluetooth connection. I also tested this feature out and was impressed with the results. Both sets of headphones would put out plenty of volume without sacrificing audio quality. That being said, I would imagine that using this feature would drain the battery at a much faster rate. However, I did not use them like this long enough to say this for certain. One last thing worth mentioning is the package. The Major IIIs come in a sturdy feeling cardboard box that holds the headphones nicely without taking up too much space. Personally, I've been using the original packaging as a carrying case when I take them on the go with me.The Marshall Major III wireless headphones are not the loudest headphones I've ever owned nor are they the easiest for me to get comfy with. However, their impressive clarity, good control interface, and unmatched battery life make them the pair I reach for the most often. Plus they have more features than I have had a chance to properly appreciate. I'm giving these headphones 5 stars because 4.5 isn't a choice but they are better than just 4 stars. I do not believe you will be disappointed if you decide to try these out for yourself.

I wanted to see if there’s another on the ear headphone that like the Jabra but has a little better sound and would be more dedicated for my gaming computer. The headphones were packed folded up and with them came a USB charging cable, and audio cable, and instruction book, no carrying case or bag came with these.Inspection:The Major IIIs are pretty light, they weigh in at 180g, and the Jabras come in at 110g, so the Major IIIs are a little heavier, still nowhere near my OTE headsets. The ear pieces fold up and into the head band making the package quite small in comparison to the Jabras that only rotate flat for transport. The headband is quite a big thicker and wider and is nicely padded and the ear cushions are considerably thicker than the Jabras. I do like too that you can grab the ear pad and rotate it to remove it, makes cleaning and replacement super easy.Setting up and Using:The first thing I did was to plug in the USB cable into my multiport charger and to my surprise nothing happened, no light, just a slight beep, the headset was fully charged from the factory, “nice”.There’s a gold button on the left earpiece, and when wearing it’s facing toward the back, this actually makes it easy to reach and feel, it’s completely meant to be touch feedback only; there are no lights on the control button “joystick” at all.To set up the headphones you press and hold the power / control button in until the small led on the opposite side by the USB port starts blinking blue, about 5 seconds, then just find the headset in your Bluetooth app and pair them, worked every time with multiple devices, no problems there at all.My first test was pairing them with my phone just to see how well they work during a phone call, “they do have a built in mic”, although it’s not a boom mic like the ones on my Jabra. I made a couple calls and voices were nice and clear, everyone could hear me just fine but there was a little bit of a tendency to pick up some background noise. Since the mic is built into the earpiece and not on a boom I can understand why that happens. The gold control button works good, forward / back for volume, quick press to answer and hang up. Although with all the functions built into one control button it’s easy to accidentally disconnect but not a bother with a little practice. My Jabra set is more suited for this as it has a separate large button on the center of the earpiece and volume controls located above/below that button, easier to use and harder to cut someone off.My next test was to pair them to my gaming desktop, and windows found them without problem and paired them right up. I went ahead and listened to some music, which actually sound better than the Jabras, a good bit more bass to them, and highs sounded nice and clear. My wife took a quick listen and approve on how well they sounded, “We’re both getting a little older and our hearing isn’t perfect, mines nowhere near, so with that, for us listening to music they sound really good. Both of my OTE headset sound better with much better base but these are large gaming headsets and understandably sound better, they just weigh a lot more and I can’t wear them for very long as my ears get too hot.Out of curiosity I used the included cable, it’s a bypass cable so if your battery dies then you have backup and don’t have to wait for them to charge up. I was surprised that the sound quality was basically the same “to me” as using them wirelessly through Bluetooth, I figured that using the 3.5mm hardwire would sound better and it didn’t “or wasn’t enough of a difference for me to notice”.My last test was to pair them to my TV through my Bluetooth transmitter hooked to it, and it worked great. Since I have hearing problems I like to use a headset so we don’t have to crank up the volume for me to understand what’s being said. Movie sounds are very clear, and I can easily hear voices and tell what’s going on without struggling to listen or read the captions. The range is really decent too, I was able to walk to the front bedroom of our house “the furthest away and there was very little dropping, not enough to bother me and I wouldn’t be listening to a movie that far away but it’s a good 45’ from the TV to the end of that room.Conclusion:I really like the new Major IIIs, they are right in between where I wanted a good set of headphones, they are beefier than the Jabras and have better sound music/movie/gaming wise. The pads on the earpieces are larger and fit on my ear better sealing out background sound more than the Jabras, and with the pads being thicker they are more comfortable for long gaming sessions. Also, the included 3.5mm cable is longer than most others, it has a section that’s coiled making it that much longer and helps keep it out of the way, it also has a control button in it and depending on how many presses you can pause, FF and RW.The control button / joystick takes a little getting used to but it works well. These are supposed to have 30hrs of run time, and I used them a few times before charging, I hadn’t run into a dead battery yet, so I’m pretty impressed with that, “looks like their 30hrs is very possible.”If you are looking for a smaller on the ear, wireless headset and want to use them for listening to music, playing games or watching movies you will probably like the Major IIIs. I still prefer the Jabras for taking calls as it has the boom microphone and works a little better in those situatons.

But, you can instead connect that same free cable end into someone else’s wired headphones to “share the music” if you’re listening wirelessly. I’m sure it’d look weird to have two people sit near each other with a wire connecting their respective headphones, but it’s a novel use of that port when listening wirelessly.The materials are nice for a value headset - not leather, but supple and easy to clean. The ear pads are easily removable to swap out with new ones, too, with current pricing at a reasonable $22/pair. The provided power and audio cables are really nice.Overall, these are great headphones for the money with good sound, great battery life, nice controls and that classic “Marshall” retro style. I would like a slightly more balanced sound stage, but these are otherwise highly recommended if you’re looking for on-ear wireless headphones with a lot of value for the price.

The headphones were packed folded up and with them ... MoreI have a few different types of Bluetooth headphones from in ear, up to over the ear headsets. My most used ones for phone calls and every day listening are a set of Jabra Bluetooth on the ear headphones. I wanted to see if there’s another on the ear headphone that like the Jabra but has a little better sound and would be more dedicated for my gaming computer. I like my over the ear headsets but those can get quite heavy on long gaming sessions. When I saw Marshall had a set out, the Major IIIs, I wanted to give them a try as they will be the first Marshall branded ones I’ve owned.Unpacking:The headphones came nicely packed, the box and everything inside is made from recyclable cardboard so there’s no waste. The headphones were packed folded up and with them came a USB charging cable, and audio cable, and instruction book, no carrying case or bag came with these.Inspection:The Major IIIs are pretty light, they weigh in at 180g, and the Jabras come in at 110g, so the Major IIIs are a little heavier, still nowhere near my OTE headsets. The ear pieces fold up and into the head band making the package quite small in comparison to the Jabras that only rotate flat for transport. The headband is quite a big thicker and wider and is nicely padded and the ear cushions are considerably thicker than the Jabras. I do like too that you can grab the ear pad and rotate it to remove it, makes cleaning and replacement super easy.Setting up and Using:The first thing I did was to plug in the USB cable into my multiport charger and to my surprise nothing happened, no light, just a slight beep, the headset was fully charged from the factory, “nice”.There’s a gold button on the left earpiece, and when wearing it’s facing toward the back, this actually makes it easy to reach and feel, it’s completely meant to be touch feedback only; there are no lights on the control button “joystick” at all.To set up the headphones you press and hold the power / control button in until the small led on the opposite side by the USB port starts blinking blue, about 5 seconds, then just find the headset in your Bluetooth app and pair them, worked every time with multiple devices, no problems there at all.My first test was pairing them with my phone just to see how well they work during a phone call, “they do have a built in mic”, although it’s not a boom mic like the ones on my Jabra. I made a couple calls and voices were nice and clear, everyone could hear me just fine but there was a little bit of a tendency to pick up some background noise. Since the mic is built into the earpiece and not on a boom I can understand why that happens. The gold control button works good, forward / back for volume, quick press to answer and hang up. Although with all the functions built into one control button it’s easy to accidentally disconnect but not a bother with a little practice. My Jabra set is more suited for this as it has a separate large button on the center of the earpiece and volume controls located above/below that button, easier to use and harder to cut someone off.My next test was to pair them to my gaming desktop, and windows found them without problem and paired them right up. I went ahead and listened to some music, which actually sound better than the Jabras, a good bit more bass to them, and highs sounded nice and clear. My wife took a quick listen and approve on how well they sounded, “We’re both getting a little older and our hearing isn’t perfect, mines nowhere near, so with that, for us listening to music they sound really good. Both of my OTE headset sound better with much better base but these are large gaming headsets and understandably sound better, they just weigh a lot more and I can’t wear them for very long as my ears get too hot.Out of curiosity I used the included cable, it’s a bypass cable so if your battery dies then you have backup and don’t have to wait for them to charge up. I was surprised that the sound quality was basically the same “to me” as using them wirelessly through Bluetooth, I figured that using the 3.5mm hardwire would sound better and it didn’t “or wasn’t enough of a difference for me to notice”.My last test was to pair them to my TV through my Bluetooth transmitter hooked to it, and it worked great. Since I have hearing problems I like to use a headset so we don’t have to crank up the volume for me to understand what’s being said. Movie sounds are very clear, and I can easily hear voices and tell what’s going on without struggling to listen or read the captions. The range is really decent too, I was able to walk to the front bedroom of our house “the furthest away and there was very little dropping, not enough to bother me and I wouldn’t be listening to a movie that far away but it’s a good 45’ from the TV to the end of that room.Conclusion:I really like the new Major IIIs, they are right in between where I wanted a good set of headphones, they are beefier than the Jabras and have better sound music/movie/gaming wise. The pads on the earpieces are larger and fit on my ear better sealing out background sound more than the Jabras, and with the pads being thicker they are more comfortable for long gaming sessions. Also, the included 3.5mm cable is longer than most others, it has a section that’s coiled making it that much longer and helps keep it out of the way, it also has a control button in it and depending on how many presses you can pause, FF and RW.The control button / joystick takes a little getting used to but it works well. These are supposed to have 30hrs of run time, and I used them a few times before charging, I hadn’t run into a dead battery yet, so I’m pretty impressed with that, “looks like their 30hrs is very possible.”If you are looking for a smaller on the ear, wireless headset and want to use them for listening to music, playing games or watching movies you will probably like the Major IIIs. I still prefer the Jabras for taking calls as it has the boom microphone and works a little better in those situatons.

Plug one end of a 3.5mm cable into the headphones and either plug the other end into a source to use these headphones wired (instead of Bluetooth or when your battery does eventually die). But, you can instead connect that same free cable end into someone else’s wired headphones to “share the music” if you’re listening wirelessly. I’m sure it’d look weird to have two people sit near each other with a wire connecting their respective headphones, but it’s a novel use of that port when listening wirelessly.The materials are nice for a value headset - not leather, but supple and easy to clean. The ear pads are easily removable to swap out with new ones, too, with current pricing at a reasonable $22/pair. The provided power and audio cables are really nice.Overall, these are great headphones for the money with good sound, great battery life, nice controls and that classic “Marshall” retro style. I would like a slightly more balanced sound stage, but these are otherwise highly recommended if you’re looking for on-ear wireless headphones with a lot of value for the price.

The sound is just perfect. I have a very eclectic taste in music but I also listen to podcasts whenever I can. The major Marshall III has great bass and mid range and surprisingly the top end is crisp but not tinny. In my experience (and believe me, my headphone collection is bigger than my shoe collection) it is unusual to get the right balance for most types of music.I love the little gold button on the left ear cup, you can do most of what you need (fast forward, rewind, skip pause and volume) with an easy push in different directions. The knob is always easy to find and it works every time (unlike touch controls that can be cumbersome and difficult to use while running, biking, etc).The battery life also sets the MAJOR III ahead of the competition. The company boasts that the headphones can play for 30 hours. The battery lasts so long that I have made it through an entire work week without having to recharge them. And, the wireless range allowed me to walk at least 40 feet from my desk before I experienced any interference. Once you go wireless, you truly cannot go back!One impressive bonus feature of the MAJOR III is that you can share your music by plugging a wired headset into the 3.5 mm jack located on the right ear cup. This is extremely handy when watching movies with a friend using a phone, or laptop. A friend can simply plug their earbuds into the MAJOR III and you can both listen with ease! It really could not be more simple.The downfall of this headset is comfort - which is typically the case with on-ear style headphones. Though the earcups are soft, squishy, and reasonably breathable - they press tightly against the user’s ears making them uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. The battery may last for 30 hours, but due to the pressure placed against your ears, you will not want to wear them for extended listening (such as all day at work - which is where I initially tested them).The size does adjust to fit both children and adults, but they simply squeeze too tightly. For those who wear glasses, the Marshall MAJOR III are flat out uncomfortable. Glasses must be tipped forward on the bridge of your nose so that the arms can sit above the earcups. Wearing your glasses in this way looks slightly odd, but it is the only way that they can be worn comfortably while using the MAJOR III.Overall, if you enjoy On-Ear Headphones, the Marshall MAJOR III are simply awesome and are completely worth the purchase price. If you are typically annoyed with how much pressure On-Ear headphones place against your ears, I would still recommend trying the MAJOR III (as long as you don’t wear glasses all of the time). They are more comfortable than most On-Ear headphones and definitely have better sound, battery life, and are easier to use....But, be aware that they still do apply pressure to your ears.Marshall continues to impress with the MAJOR III and I look forward to trying out the products they produce in the future.

It does look a bit fancier than one typically sees in the gym so I'm still deciding how I feel about that and whether I will continue using it for workout purposes. Despite the relatively lightweight, it does seem to squeeze a bit more when adjusted properly. While this is ok for listening while working on my computer for a couple hours time, it got a bit annoying when working out. I also cut that a bit short as I got a bit worried about how well it will handle sweat.The interface on this is pretty cool, a single button. But you can press it (or long press it) play/pause/pair, then push it up and down (volume), left or right (skip forward and backwards). No NFC built-in so you will need to do the normal bluetooth pairing. It does have a 3.5mm audio so you can use it as a wired headset. I normally don't bother testing this part of bluetooth headphones as I tend to exclusively use them wirelessly. But wanting to be thorough for this review, I did. And as it turns out, the headphones were paired to my phone while I connected this to my stereo (phones are losing their 3.5mm audio connector you know). So, imagine my surprise to find that I could hear both sources. Looking at the box, I discovered that you can actually share music to wired headphones from bluetooth. You wear the headphones listening to a bluetooth source and daisy chain to someone else over the wired connection - cool!I tested these over the course of a couple days. Not continuous listening but for a good amount of time each. Still plenty of battery life left. I've not run things long enough to fully confirm the 30 hour rated life, but I'd say this is definitely in that ballpark and if not for the Marshall look and faux leather, could be a replacement gym set. As it is, I'm quite motivated to take better care so it will likely end up seeing reduced usage by always living at my work desk. Then my gym set becomes 100% gym only and I no longer have the issue where I randomly reach into my backseat upon arriving at the gym only to discover I left my headset elsewhere.Even though this is not as whiz bang featured as some other bluetooth headphones, I'm quite impressed. Pretty good sound quality, great battery life, simple uncomplicated interface makes a big difference. I'm not sure I'd ever have a use for the audio sharing feature - maybe on an airplane trip, but this accomplishes its job and does it with style and verve! I need to play around with the fit a bit more, but other than that I'm quite happy with the Marshall Major III.
I liked that I bought it at this price and in this site. The service was great because they were fast in taking my order and delivery. The price was fair. The headphones themselves I find comfortable, the battery life is phenomenal and the button for input works great. I do recommend them. The sound is good too but that's where u have to give 3 stars. Good enough for enjoyment and for working but it lacks a little. It's about the price point, at this price yes, it's a buy, but should I have saved another $300 and gone up in quality? I don't know. Maybe in a couple years I'll find out. For now the sound is good enough and the battery life makes me feel like I made a good purchase.
