I tried my first pair of Banyans (tortoise frame, HCL Bronze lens) in 2010 at a local outdoor gear store. The salesman let me go outside in the sunlight. I wore my own pair and then wore the Banyans. My eyes immediately felt much more comfortable with the Banyans, as if a pressure had been removed, because the lenses were polarized. When I wore my own sunglasses, the pressure resumed. The difference in eye comfort convinced me to buy the Banyans on the spot even though I was unemployed at that time. I decided it was better to take care of my eyes and cut back elsewhere.Since then, my Banyans are the only sunglasses I wear. Even though I've carelessly broken one temple several times after the warranty period expired, I sent my Banyans to Maui Jim for repair. They even replaced the old beat-up case with a new one. This is customer service of the highest order.

The best sunglasses for blocking glare while driving. My Oakley polarized sunglasses were very good. These Maui Jim polarized are EXCELLENT. Banyans slightly larger lens with wrap around shape keep the sun out from all angles. Very lightweight and look great. 100% recommend.

At first receipt I immediately wanted to return this. It felt like a cheap toy with none of that hefty premium feel you get from metal rim and heavy glass lens sunnies. But after one use I could see why this get such nice reviews. It's feather-light, and yes the lens feel like plastic. But it's extremely clear and does not distort my vision unlike any other sunglasses I've tried before. It's super comfortable on the eyes, feels like I'm not wearing them thanks to the that. Closer look at the construction shows sturdy construction with multiple screws. Also suprisingly, made in Japan! A missed marketing opportunity that they do not mention this.As a bonus it fits fine on my large head that can usually only fit wraparounds.

I've worn these for ten years and the lens is great. I love the fit and look. But, the inside lens screws are in your eye line and you have to get used to that. Also they are impossible to clean, or keep clean. They were perfect when new, but have never been that clean again. I've even taken them to sunglass stores and they can't get them clean either. It's too bad other then that they are great.
Love these glasses. It's my third pair. I broke the earpiece by shoving my purse under the seat in front of me on a plane. Was heartbroken. So ordered them again. This style really helps with peripheral vision and the color helps with the sun. They are in a safe place in my car in the newer glasses case that is so much better. I just used the pouch that came with my last ones - probably reason they broke. But - they made it to Hawaii and used them each day. Love my Maui Jim's. Been wearing these sunglasses since 2002 when I first had Lasix performed on my eyes. Life savers!
I love the rose lenses and the overall lightness of the glasses, however, the screw locations on the insides of the lenses near the nosepiece interfere with the field of vision (very distracting) until your vision acclimates. After that you don’t notice that design flaw.I owned a pair of rock crushers prior to this but was unable to get new lenses (Maui Jim no longer makes them) that design didn’t have anything obstructing the lense view.
I love the look of my Banyans. They are light and very comfortable. What I don't like are the 2 screws that protrude into the lenses from the nose bridge. Kind of annoying showing up in my line of sight. If this was going to be my only pair of glasses, I would probably get used to it, but I have 5 other pairs of MJ's. Also, very disappointed MJ doesn't ship their pouches anymore.
I have to agree with those who've complained about the protruding bridge. It's wide and really jots out. I can easily see it and is especially noticeable when I turn slightly one way or the other or look up. It's like a fly landed on the corner of my eyebrow. As much as they tout the clarity of their Brilliant lens and for $240, it's a very weird design flaw, but I guess it doesn't bother most people according to the reviews. I didn't notice it in the store but hard to ignore outside. Other than that, the lens is beautiful. I just find a dark spot in the overhead corner to be distracting and a deal breaker. Will be returning.
Bought these for my husband for Christmas. I have the same style just different color. I absolutely love them! He likes them because they fit is big head, which is a huge plus! They are very light weight and have great protection from sunlight. I would definitely recommend these to any and everyone!
I have been wearing Maui Jim sunglasses for at least 20 years. This pair is my 3rd; I can't imagine using any other eyewear. This particular model fits me perfectly, as if they were custom made for my face. The brightness of the sun & daylight is subdued to protect my eyes, but not dark enough to make a difference in being able to see & discern objects. I can wear these all day without them making me uncomfortable. I will always be a steadfast customer. Thank you!!
