21 Years of constant use, still PERFECT!

It is quiet, particularly for a coffee grinder, and it has a very very fine ‘grind-calibration’ for dialing in the exact degree of fineness for any type of coffee (light roast, medium, dark). I also used a wax Sharpie peel off marker to make notches on the adjustment dial to mark for espresso and drip coffee for quick reference. I've set the single dose auto adjustment for espresso dosing and the double dose adjustment for drip which works great for my purposes. The grinding speed is double that of my Rocky which is a plus and the sound is no louder than that of my previous grinders! I had the guys at iDrinkCoffee replace the stock larger hopper with the mini hopper which works pretty good for my small kitchen and perfect for my low dosing needs at home.I'm amazed at how the results in my espresso shots improved over my previous grinders. The grinds are fluffy and result in thick, sweet home-roasted crema-filled espresso from my La Pavoni lever espresso machine. This grinder is beautiful, built like a tank, and has been a positive upgrade from the Rocky! Anyone thinking that you cannot use this grinder for both espresso and drip at home is wrong. It works great for my needs and I look forward to using this grinder at home for years to come!

I hesitate to evaluate the quality of the grind, as I am not that particular about the grind. This is a pass/fail question for me. And, it receives a pass. I leave it to others to address this. I did grind 2 lbs last week on a fine grind for my brother. He needed help since Costco removed grinders due to Covid 19. It ran continuously for 20-25 minutes. It did get warm which is to be expected. But, it certainly did not overheat. If you can't tell, I am very satisfied with this grinder.

I purchased out G60 from CC 1.5 yrs ago. We make ~5 espresso drinks/day. It is a very clean setup; almost no grounds on counter and nothing gets stuck in dispensing spout. Timers are easy to use. The dose counter is useful to remind when to clean my espresso machine. It is easy to make small grind and timer adjustments. It fits perfectly under wall cabinets (remove hopper lid when moving out to fill). I use a layer of plumbers tape around hopper bottom to keep grounds contained (my pro-tip). It is an elegantly designed machine for espresso and reliable. My 1st grinder 14 yrs ago was a Rancilio Rocky (poor grind quality/difficult to time/measure). Not for home use

The dispenser mechanism is beyond bad. If you’re grinding for home use and don’t want to leave large amounts of coffee to go stale in the hopper, you’ll be grinding small amounts. Dispensing them is the problem. You’ll find yourself having to flick the dispenser lever time after time after time. The dispenser tends to dump varying amounts of coffee, often dropping a substantial amount outside the portafilter. Also, the feet aren’t very stable, so as you’re flipping, flipping, flipping the dispenser lever, the machine is shifting position on the countertop. You wind up with the machine askew and a big mess of wasted grounds all over the place. And one further problem: when the machine is dropping varied amounts of coffee with each flip of the dispenser, it’s ... MoreThe dispenser mechanism is beyond bad. Nuova Simonelli G60 Espresso Grinder Review
14 October 2019

I bought the NS G60 grinder from you in late November and have used it daily.I'm relatively new to the barista craft but know excellent espresso when I taste it.Using it, I have brewed some of the best espresso I've ever tasted going back 20 years.I would buy it again knowing much more now about the barista craft than I did then.It is providing consistent excellent grinds and is very precise in grind adjustment.Did a choke test with it on my espresso machine and it indeed choked, and no where near the finest grind setting. It is also one of the most elegant & beautiful espresso grinders I've seen. It is simply beautiful.Proud to have it next to my espresso machine. Not kidding.Mark me down as a very happy G60 owner.

The 2-shot timer is almost useless, and the conical doserless dispenser is silly.Grind is adjusted with a large collar near the top, which presumably screws the disk grinder elements together or apart. Small changes in collar position produce large changes in grind, that is, control could be better. But this might require replacing flat with conical burrs, which would be a big change. This doserless grinder provides a pair of 10-turn potentiometers ? for timing 1-shot and 2-shot grinds. The problem is that at the highest setting the 2-shot adjustment doesn't run the grinder long enough to fill a 2-shot portafilter at finer grinds. Strangely, the 1-shot adjustment has the same maximum time. Shouldn ?t the maximum time of the 2-shot pot be double? An easy fix, in which Mazzer customer service shows no interest. The large conical ground coffee dispenser serves no purpose at all and should be replaced with a simple spout. Their lawyers, I ?m guessing, concerned that the cone's easily removable top exposed the grinder disks to careless fingers, had them fit an internal shield, which makes cleaning difficult.

Works like a charm after more than 10 years

I've had this machine for 10-15 years and it will probably last longer than me. It's super-precise, super reliable -- it's a pro grind for your kitchen. I only use it for espresso. I don't recommend using it if you're switching between drip and espresso, say. Once you get the setting right for espresso, you just need to make very minor adjustments with each new batch of beans, but it gets more tedious if you're making big changes in grind. Once set, it's entirely repeatable grinds each shot. My model had a plastic grind tray with little ears to attach to the body that eventually broke off -- that's my only knock. Hopefully the current stainless tray doesn't suffer from that.
