More convenient and much lighter than a pneumatic impact. I am not sure it hits as hard consistently as it says. I did not use the high output battery with this tool and only used a 5.0. This thing can eat through some batteries! We had a few bolts stuck that this would not back out... 2000 ft-lbs should have knocked them loose. A standard 1" pneumatic was able to loosen those same bolts. This impact is much easier to move around (than an impact with an air hose) to rattle down bolts prior to using a hydraulic wrench, so I will give it that. This impact is still pretty heavy. I should also note I used the D-Handle impact. This was used on steam turbine equipment.

I wish I could get my money back.

I bought this impact in 2019, used it one time on some tractor duals and thought it seemed awfully weak for the money spent, however, it did the job. The next time I needed a 1" impact was Nov 2021 on an 11 month old semi trailer for the lug nuts. This thing removed about 7 of the 10 by hammering on them for 30 seconds or more each, the other 3 nuts needed a breaker bar. I used a 12.0 battery, fully charged, the lug torque is 450ft lb, the wheels were put on at the factory and retorqued with a torque wrench for the break in period. I should have taken it back when I first suspected a problem. Don't waste your money.

I work on heavy duty truck especially yoke nuts that are 700-1200 ft lbs and usually more by using 3/4 air impacts. The 1/2” (first-gen) isn’t enough for them and although can usually take the wheels off it is at its upper end, so the 1” was to be a plus for them as well. Those are supposed to be 450-500 but rarely a tire guy puts them to that with their 1” impact that does 1500-2500. Even if they use a torque wrench at the end they don’t do the final movement with it so all is really accomplished is the wheel fastener is at least at what they set it at, as opposed to being set at that. The 1” I got using the 9amp battery I had with me failed to take a yoke but off that was put on with a 3/4 air. I tried it on the wheel fasteners and it didn’t not bust them off ... MoreI work on heavy duty truck especially yoke nuts that are 700-1200 ft lbs and usually more by using 3/4 air impacts. I tried it on the wheel fasteners and it didn’t not bust them off like traditional 1” ones and honestly was not really any faster than the 3/4 or even the 1/2” (first gen 2763 which is lower torque than the later 1/2” ones!) so maybe i just got a dud but for the price and as a 1” it seemed under powered. I really doubt it does 1800. It is still a nice impact, but for the price relative to the other 1/2 and 3/4 ones it just doesn’t seem there. Nice to use the 1” sockets tho and the D handle. Otherwise wait for an update, and when they boost the torque to 2k or even 2.5k to be more on par with the typical ratings of many 1” guns, especially the tire ones. I’ve compared to 3/4” and this 1” and it just didn’t really seem better. Using 3/4 adapter takes a tad away for that testing tho but it should better in my opinion!

Interesting problem
6 December 2021

Got this impact a month ago. I do a lot of fabricating and welding on Haul Road trucks and trailers around Fairbanks Alaska area. Lots of suspension work. Often having to go out back to the big truck graveyard to get parts away from any air or electric. This impact works great but developed a problem and had to send it in for repair. When impacting it worked great. When the impact transitions to free spin, the wrench would pulse on and off smacking my wrist into surrounding obstacles. This got irritating very quickly. I really hope Milwaukee repair center can correct this behavior. I want to purchase the bidder D-handle long anvil impact next but hesitant if it will do the same.

It works very well for a short amount of time.

I use it for all kinds of stuff. Everything you could think of from repairing suspension parts replacing etc on fire trucks to repairing trash compactors at the landfill. Even though I have the 12 amp hour battery by the time you get through 14 1 in diameter cutting edge bolts this thing's overeating. Once it overheats it takes a little while for it to cool down so I break out the harbor freight 1 inch drive air impact. Short nose D handle just with an air hose plugged in it I never have a problem. The impact works well if you're going to just do two or three bolts at a time and let it set but to use it constantly it does overheat sometimes. I wish it came with a battery strap as well to hold the battery tight. The three quarter inch I have does the same thing as well it rattles the battery right off.

Lots of power in a small package…
16 August 2022

Well made and works quite well. Was employed to remove 2” nuts (torqued to 744lbs/ft on a man way cover, it removed and torqued 20 on one and loosened another 20 on one 8.0Ah battery. Super handy while on a catwalk 30’ in the air. Beats using a 6’ breaker bar. We have quite a few Milwaukee M18 Fuel impacts at work, they’re very reliable and take quite a bit of abuse and just keep working. That is one of the reasons I switch from the old yellow cordless tools to red ones. Happy with every M18 and M12 tool that I own.

Not as described
2 January 2022

Purchased new. Tried to remove a semi wheel nut. Sat there and chattered for 30 seconds before it took one off. Then wouldn’t budge the other ones. Removed nuts with torque wrench and torqued back down to 900 foot lbs. with torque wrench. Then tried to remove again still would not remove till we torqued them to 500 foot lbs. I have a lot of Milwaukee and and use 12.0 amp battery’s. This will be going back to the store come Monday. Never had an issue with Milwaukee tools till now Don’t waste your time or effort on this one till they figure it out. And by the way my 1/2 Milwaukee impact with a 12.0 took them off faster than this did

Not my idea of a great (or good) impact
23 March 2022

I bought this just before covid started and then I went through open heart surgery. Needless to say it hasn't seen a lot of use other than the occasional tire change. I thought at first my batteries were getting weak or the impact was new and needed some work in time. I was wrong, it never came up to anywhere close to the advertised torque. I was removing a head from a Cat D8 recently and couldn't get the head bolts out. The customer has a D handle style and his took them right out. I don't know the reason for the difference but the bolts are torqued to just less than 500 Ft lbs and mine should have done it easily. I have a ton of Milwaukee tools but this is the worst.

So powerful awesome
10 February 2023

This is one bad impact I’m in it’s got so much power it rips the bolts right off of The cutting edge on a D10 dozer like nothing I mean I thought I was going to have to heat them up with the torch or cut them off. and this thing took them off like they were nothing and it did it with a five amp hour battery Well worth the money highly recommend it if you got any kind of heavy duty work to do, this thing will break off a fastener like nothing It works just as good as my 1 inch air impact. It may even work a little bit better.

a good tool for what it is

I knew going into it that it would never equal a big air powered tool. It simply is too light and lacks the rotating mass to really do the heavy work. How Milwaukee comes up with 1800 Lb ft of torque is suspect in my mind, Marketing dept?. However if you use the tool within it's limitations it is wonderful addition to the tool box. I use it on my truck wheels. Hub pilot style and it works excellent. Of course I torque them up to final torque with a torque wrench and do not over tighten. I also use it in general repair work and find it adequate for most things. Many times I have to break things loose with a breaker bar or when appropriate go get the air wrench, but again I expected that would be the case. I need to investigate that someday. Since I have many M18 tools I set the rapid charger aside as a standard charger is never far away.
