Been lurking on this for a while then it came on sale here. I love the power (600ft/lbs) for such a small size and the fact that at a touch of a button I can switch torques down to even 30ft pounds. I haven't touched my air impact since I got this. Picked the 3/8 so I have the option of more sockets I can use for home needs. Wheels come off and on so fast (compared to my air gun) as you can literally turn the drive so slow with a slight pull of the trigger to make sure you're threading it on properly, and no hoses. Should have had this years ago but the technology wasn't quite there, now it is.

It's a well-rounded impact wrench. This is the second impact that I bought, the first is the M18 half inch impact. Does the big things fantastic, but for smaller stuff it's a bit much. That's where the the mid torque really starts to shine. It's got 3 different power settings, it's comfortable in your hand, mid torque is nice doesn't completely destroy your wrist. I found that it really kind of does everything I need it to do without having a giant price tag. It just feels reliable.I got to tell you, compared to the other d list competitor Milwaukee's customer service is fantastic.

I really like using the Milwaukee M18 Fuel 3/8” square drive, 6” compact mid-torque impact wrench #2960-20 with friction ring and the Milwaukee kit #2960-22R that includes 2 batteries and battery charger comes with! In detail, the Milwaukee kit consists of the following: a blow-mold carrying case with handle, the #2960120 3/8” square drive impact wrench, two XC5.0 Red Lithium-Ion #948-11-1850R 18-volt batteries and a Milwaukee #48-59-1812 combination 18-volt/12-volt lithium-Ion battery charger, and a complete owner’s manual with operating instructions. Two of the nice features I found with this impact tool is that the batteries do not develop a memory which traditionally shortens the life of a battery, and also, these batteries can be left in the charger for maintenance charging so there are always at full charging strength. This cordless impact tool is great and has the power to torque or loosen automobile lug nuts without the need for an air tool, air compressor, and most of all, dragging around an air hose that limits your work distance. The 3-bight white LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights are permanently position frontward on the tool so they clearly light up the work area without any shadows! This impact wrench has a brushless motor which is far superior to the older style and inefficient, brush type motor. The main difference between a brushless and a brushed motor is that the brushed motors use carbon graphite electrical brushes to complete the electrical circuit make the motor operate. Brushless motors use non-physical contact, strong magnets instead of brushes. In a brushed motor, carbon graphite brushes are considered a wearable item that need replaced when worn out or otherwise the impact tool does not operate. In a brush motor, carbon brushes and a commutator require a physical connection to the spinning motor which creates mini sparks, lots of friction, and generates heat which all translate to wasted torque energy and shorten battery life. When using the newer style brushless motor, as found in this impact tool, the user can take advantage improved efficiency, longer operating life of the tool, longer battery life, reduced heat, lower noise, and reduced tool maintenance. For this impact tool’s compact size, it has the 550 ft/lbs. of power to bust nuts loose without any problems! I really like the fact that you have four modes of impact torque values so I can select the correct impact torque setting for each situation and there is even one setting I can select so I don’t over impact and over torque a fastener! Another nice feature is that this impact tool comes with a belt clip, so it allows you carry, hands free, the impact tool from job site to job site. This impact tool and battery charger have been reviewed and they are UL Listed by UL (Underwriters Laboratory), an independent test laboratory, for electrical safety. I really like the fact that Milwaukee Tools stands behind their products by offers a 5-year warranty on the impact tool itself and a 3-year warranty on the rechargeable batteries. The Milwaukee Tools line of tools are what the pros use, and they depend on every day to do their work! I just wish the male 3/8" drive end had a spring-loaded ball, like found on a hand ratchet, to keep tension on the socket or extension that is being use so it doesn't fall off the drive end.

This is a prior gen with torque of 600lbs instead of the new 650lbs model, but she still gets the job done. This thing saved me from going to the mechanic! It was able to loosen the rusty bolts and nuts of my outer steering rod, front lower ball joint (impossible levels of rust) and the MASSIVE nut connecting the wheel to the CV Axle shaft Assembly (the thing that connects the wheel to the transmission and powers the wheel). Rust penetrant helped but still fantastic performance in tight spaces.
I have been a mechanic for over 37 years, my toolbox is filled with snap-on tools.I am now retired and working out of my personal garage. It was time to upgrade a lot of my tools.I decided to go with the best, started with a Milwaukee 1/2 impact, then 1/2 drill then air compressorAnd of course this 3/8 impact gun. The technology today is incredible, the power and quality of Milwaukee products are simply amazing. The costs are great for the product you receive.Do not want to crush snap-on but Milwaukee is superior in my opinion and the prices are much less.
To be fair, I am hooked on the Milwaukee Fuel line of power tools. I have been purchasing the Fuel line of battery tools since mid 2018, exclusively, and am always pleased with the performance.I keep the M18 Hi-Torque impact in my Volvo semi tractor, and wanted to add this mid torque version to my Jeep Rubicon.Just like the big impact, this mid -torque is ridiculously hold with two hands strong.Surprisingly light weight for what it can do.I like the peace of mind that on the 4 setting, the impact will reduce its rotational speed after it breaks the fastener loose so as not to fling it into the twilight zone when removing a nut.The level four setting also stops around 40 ft-lbs when installing so as not to over tighten the fasteners. Then I can use a torque ... MoreTo be fair, I am hooked on the Milwaukee Fuel line of power tools. The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 3/8 in. This is a mid-torque impact wrench that delivers up to 600 ft-lbs of nut-busting torque. It’s an ideal tool for the D.I.Y. auto mechanic or the Professional Tradesman that requires High-End quality tooling. This is a nice transition for me going from my pneumatic Impact to battery power. There’s no more dragging an air hose around and this tool is just as powerful. With the battery installed it measures 10 in. tall and the power head is 6 in. long and capable of getting into tight areas. Milwaukee supports this product with a 5 Year (Tool), and a 3 Year (Battery) Manufacturer Warranty.
I work in an industrial setting and I’m starting to see more and more of the trades use battery powered tools while out in the field. Traditionally we always used pneumatic air tools because they wouldn’t cause a spark depending on they type of work we were doing. The downside of this is having to drag air hoses up the side of columns and vessels or trying to locate an air header connection to tie into. Now that batteries have gotten so powerful and the tools so much more advanced with brushless motors, etc…. there really isn’t a drawback to using battery powered tools anymore. I can throw this Milwaukee 3/8 in. Mid-Torque Impact Wrench in my tool bag with a spare battery and work all day if necessary. I can throw this Milwaukee 3/8 in. Mid-Torque Impact Wrench in my tool bag with a spare battery and work all day if necessary. This impact is much more compact also and I’m not having to fight the air hose all the time to try and angle it into a tight spot. Sometimes we get into some very precarious positions and it’s not really even a challenge anymore. This Milwaukee impact is exactly the perfect balance between power and weight. I haven’t found a single bolt that I haven’t been able to bust loose yet when I needed to. The three LED lights on the face of the impact are perfect. They put out a nice bright white light exactly where you need it. Sometimes we work in some very dark pipe rows where sunlight can’t pass through and the light really comes in handy there for sure. One other great feature is the premium gearcase rubber overmold which protects the body of the impact. It helps it from getting beat up to much while bouncing around in a tool bag, inside the truck tool box or while out working. This impact comes with a real nice plastic carrying case which has two batteries and the charger in it. I really love that the charger will do both the M18 & M12 batteries. I have the Milwaukee heated jacket and I can charge the impact battery at the same time as my jacket battery if need be. If you are looking for the perfect balance between power and weight I would definitely pick this one whether you are a DIY person or in the trades. This is by far my new favorite impact and I look forward to using it for years to come. Milwaukee knocked it out of the park on this one.
This is a very nice impact, it has nice features and lots of power. It’s compact size and it’s relative light weight make it very easy to use. The ergonomics are also quite good. The 3 LED lights on the front do a good job of lighting up the area you are working on. It has 4 power mode settings or as they call it “drive control”. It has low (200 ft lbs), medium (300 ft lbs) and high (550-600 ft lbs) and auto shut off. In the Auto Shut off mode in the forward position it will put out about 35 ft lbs and then stop, in the reverse direction it will break the fastener loose and then slow down for controlled removal, for things like lugnuts I find this feature very nice. There is a button on the top of the base that controls the settings, it is easy to use, but in strong sunlight it is a little difficult to see the indicator lights. I don’t know about the advertised 550 ft lbs of tightening and the 600 ft lbs of loosening, as I didn’t have any fastener/socket that would take that torque, but I was able to tighten a 36 mm axle nut to 300 ft lbs and then remove it. The 300 ft lbs was achieved using a ½ drive 36mm deep socket with an adapter to reduce it down to 3/8 drive, I know it would do more without the adapter. It came with a very nice case that is quite sturdy, also included were (2) 5.0 amp hour batteries, and a charger. I really like that the included charger does both the 12 volt and 18 volt Milwaukee batteries, so I can charge any of my Milwaukee batteries. The impact measures about 6” long from back to front and about 9” long from top to bottom, (about 11” with battery). It weighs about 3 lbs 8 oz without the battery and about 5 lbs 2 oz with the battery, The case measures about 17” x 13” x 6” and weighs about 12 lbs with the tool, charger and batteries. All in all a super nice tool that works very well.
