So, I wasn’t going to write a review, I wasn’t in the mood to deal with this site any more, but I get so many emails asking for one that I think I should. So, the good things first: my new iPhone case and CineClear Snap-On filter looks amazing, MagSafe works fenomenal (animation and everything), the anamorphic lens looks nice… this company has so much potential. Now, the bitter and disappointing part. I pre-ordered my iPhone 14 Pro Max case on 9/15, they shipped out on 11/15. Now, I get it, there were delays on the case and CCSO filter, totally understandable, but there was a looong time the company was radio silence about informing me about anything, but their promotional emails keep coming, so I had to write and ask about it. The site would crash every time I wanted to check my order status, on different days, and customer support wasn’t that helpful. I even had to add an adapter for my anamorphic lens and when they finally ship something, they seem to use the cheapest courier service: slow and no padding in the bag. The CCSO filter was back on stock on a Thursday, I keep waiting for some news until Monday when I had to write and say I saw it before they actually did anything…So, I guess you have really good technicians and expert photographers, designers, and engineers, but with a service like that, I don’t want to deal with any of it.

When I bought the 1.33 gold anamorphic lens, phone case, & lens adapter plate (mid Oct.), the lens was on back order with a projected ship date of Oct. 30. I did receive the case and adaptor plate within 2 wks. But by mid Nov. I hadn’t received the lens, nor any communication from Moment about delays. I web searched to find a customer service phone #. Didn’t find a phone #, but did find an explanation that they don’t have enough staff to take phone calls. So, no lens & nobody to talk to. So I replied to the order confirmation email and asked if they would issue me a refund for all 3 items (I would send the case and adaptor back) because I didn’t want to do business with a company that can’t deliver, isn’t proactive enough to communicate, and won’t take calls. They did reply, but only offered a refund for the lens. That means I would be out $50 for a case I would no longer need - but they would not accept a return for. I didn’t want to waste the $, so I continued to wait. Fast forward to Dec. 16 and I finally received the lens - a full 2 months after ordering. I do like the lens. However, wish I would have skipped Moment and bought the competitor’s lens. I dread the idea of buying another lens from moment. There’s a couple companies that make good cell phone lenses. Consider the company that backs the lenses before you buy. I recommend not buying moment. Only 1 star due to the experience.

Bought 3 lenses, they all came dirty and I could visibly see finger prints on the lenses and crumbs, dust and such. Also they do not come with a protection for the back of the lenses which I would think would be included for such an expensive product. Also got a lens brush and the bristles immediately started falling off the brush. Products are way too expensive for the quality. I did buy some pre owned items but am still paying a big price for the products and they didn’t even come cleaned and didn’t seem checked well. Will not go through this company again.

I wanted to be unencumbered during a vacation, so I left my DSLR at home and exclusively used my iPhone 12 mini. The vacation was "aboard" Disney's Star Wars Galactic Cruiser, so I purchased the 1.33x anamorphic lens for a more cinematic feel. From my amateur viewpoint, the lens delivered the desired effect and I am pleased with the results. We were constantly engaged in active "missions" and engulfed by crowds, so this was mostly a point-and-shoot affair when there was a split-second break between the sweaty masses.Attached are a few shots. Having the wider angle was great when taking pictures that included people; compositionally, it was much easier to capture our 5-person party without any obstruction of the subject in the background. My one major criticism was the looseness of connection between the lens and phone adapter. While the lens would "click" into place the first couple of times, it would soon (less than 10 detach-/reattachments) just loosely stay in place. The lens would start to rotate out of locked position with a slight brush against clothing or a gentle bump with a finger. I'm sure the squared edges of the lens extending beyond the edge of my 12 mini didn't help.I tried new adapters, but experienced the same thing. Since the lens always locked into place in an unused adapter, but then quickly degraded, I suspect the issue is with the adapter design/construction and not the lens. This lack of secureness alters the situations in which I'll use the lens; I won't use it when a firm bump could send it tumbling into water or over a cliff. That being said, the lens is high-quality and works seamlessly with the Moment app.Attached are a few images taken aboard the ship and during a "shore excursion" to the planet Batuu. In the first shot, note the feint signature blue flare on the left between the round door and archway to the left.
I first saw the anamorphic lens on the one-year update video that moment posted and fell in love especially when I saw the photo of the van. After buying one I immediately fell in love and have been very happy with the product nothing to complain about just have a few notes really, but nothing to cry overFirst of all I really love the build quality it feels extremely durable and solid I’ve even had a couple of close calls and not a single problem. Second Isn’t a huge deal but I would really really really love to be able to film and take photos in 2:76:1 I’m just so deeply in love with that epic massive look. That being said the 2:39:1 still looks great! i mean it hasn’t disconnected from my phone since I got it so I know this love is true. When it comes to the case ... My only small complaint is the back leather insert does seem to get dirty fast even in Covid when you wash your hands every five minutes haha, but I would still give it a solid nine out of 10 overall. The camera mount gives me so much confidence knowing I can click it on and it feels stable and it never twists or bends, I also really love the fact that after you fully twist the lens on and connect it, you cannot force it to go any further causing what I like to call the bottlecap effect, which is overtime you always end up trying to tighten something a little more and more and I love that the lens just stops dead still when it is connected letting you know you don’t have to go any further 🙌🏽 just another quality thing that takes the stress off my shoulders and gives me the confidence to film freely. When it comes to the lens cleaning pen I understand that it is one of the less important things in the line that being said I think it works really great I just wish the brush portion had a sort of cover just to protect it more, And the felt tip end meant for cleaning off smudges and fingerprints oils works fantastic I only wish it was just a tad bit bigger and had a way of cleaning it off for extended use overtime, but not a big deal.Overall I’m extremely happy with this lens and I am just so excited because I can’t get over the feeling of Freedom I get from this lens and constantly laugh at myself appreciating the fact that I a civilian have the ability to shoot 4K video at 100 Mb a second in 2:39:1 or 2:76:1 in filmic in my own hands especially knowing that this was not possible for anyone to do 10 years ago I feel so fortunate to have this ability and it really excites my imagination and appreciation for photos and film.Thank you so much momentAnd thank you for doing it right for the crazy creative In all of usMuch love and appreciationKris Urquides
I'm disappointed with my purchase of the Moment 1.55x Anamorphic Lens - Gold Flare T-Series. The order was a mess – I received a lens labeled "gold flare," but the bag was for the "blue flare" version.Mounting the lens on my iPhone 15 Pro has been a nightmare. I've reached out to customer support, but the whole experience has been nothing short of frustrating. I advise against buying this anamorphic lens. The online videos didn't prepare me for these issues.Don't get me wrong, i have ordered other products from moment and they were fine
Most iPhones have a wide and ultra-wide camera which renders this lens pretty much useless. I did a direct comparison of this lens on my iPhone 14 Pro to the Ultrawide lens on the iPhone 14 Pro. Not only did I get a wider field of view out of the native UW lens on the phone that I could then crop to any aspect ratio I wanted, but I also got a much sharper image with almost zero distortion. With the Anamorphic lens attached, using the Moment app to desqueeze on the fly, I got a terribly blurry image on either side of the frame, and it introduced crazy, almost fisheye, distortion.Further, in order to shoot desqueezed in the Moment app, you lose any RAW or ProRes abilities which means you're having to take your images and videos to the computer to do anything with ... But that can be added in post, if you really want it.
I have been shooting for almost 10 yrs now, both DSLR and mobile photography - some video for fun here and there. I had been researching this anamorphic lens for almost a year because I wasn't quite sure I wanted to spend that much on a mobile lens. Well I finally did and I was surprised to find it was not very user friendly and the shots weren't nearly as great as I had expected. On top of that, in all of the videos they have about this lens, you don't find out until you receive the lens that you have to A) adjust with a tiny, very losable, tool (provided), and B) Once you have the lens mounted you have to use their app to even shoot through the lens. I felt okie doked! As a lens it definitely does add a cinematic quality to your shots/vids but with lenses/cameras on phones being so high quality now, the lens only improved the quality marginally.I've been following moment for a long time, waiting to pull the trigger on some moment gear. When I finally did I was left feeling pretty gouged by pricing - it seems that Moment has parsed out every element of their proprietary lens/mounts/systems so that you have to pay every step of the way. Want the lens? Need to buy lens mount. Want the lens mount? Need to buy the case. Want to shoot with the anamorphic lens? Need to buy the Moment app. It just felt wrong but I went along with it and unfortunately I was underwhelmed by the results and about $200 in the hole. Thankfully the return process was easy but I'm anticipating a restocking fee even though all items were still in returnable condition. I may come back to Moment in the future but really he barrier of entry to using their products shouldn't be this high. I do hope they change their approach to pricing because at the moment it feels borderline predatory.iphone 13 Pro
High quality construction as usual from the people at Moment. It's as if you had an anamorphic "cinema" lens on your smartphone. The golden rays thing is a great detail, I use it for sunrises...Soon I will acquire the lens with "blue ray" so I can use it in night photographyI have uploaded 4 sample photos:- 5 palm trees", Pixel 8 Pro+Anamorphic Lens+Filters Adapter+CPL FilterAnd 2 photos of the beautiful Cartagena City Hall building in Spain:With and without the anamorphic lens(and with the CPL filter in both cases)And the last photo is of a beautiful sculpture, which the anamorphic lens and the Moment App are able to blur perfectly!!!
The iPhone 15 Pro cameras are bigger, so add-on lenses have to be optimized for the new camera. (Stay away from budget lenses) I was happy to see it was sharp and in focus from corner to corner on my 15 Pro. The T-series mount is larger. Moment sells phones cases for the mount, and some iPhone cages have available adapter plates that can handle T-series mounts.Mount the lens by twisting. Use the included hex key to align the lens so it's vertical. The iPhone 15 Pro camera is already wide, so adding a 1.33x lens means we are approaching the ultra wide view of a GoPro. (You can punch in with the Blackmagic Camera app--so that gives you a range of options). The gold anamorphic flares are stronger than the older models which is nice.Worth the money.
