NARS - Powermatte Lipstick - Start Me Up - 1.5g

I have been wanting to purchase this since its release, time and time again I am drawn to the color and how pigmented and beautiful it appears and effortlessly seems to apply. I finally own it and I have a few things to report for anyone who is, perhaps indecisive about the product. I will walk you through some of the claims posted by the company, and whether or not I believe it to be true. 🍁Transfer-resistant: False, unfortunately it does transfer; right after you apply and allow it to set it transfers only a tad bit, and the loss of makeup isn’t noticeable but three hours later it has transferred on to anything I’ve taken a sip out of and by this time has faded into a lip liner, the inner areas of my lips no longer have lipstick. 🍁Matte lipstick that glides on: Somewhat true, it does glide on effortlessly and the application is beautiful but it isn’t a 100% matte, it has almost a satin finish not shiny or glossy but also shines far more then a matte would. 🍁Delivering bold color: Absolutely! In one application the t color is bold, full, and breath taking! The first color I have ever obsessed over. 🍁All-day comfort for up to ten hours: It is extremely lightweight, moisturizing, and comfortable, I love the formula…. It will last about 4 hours at best, doing the basic everyday eating, snacking, or drinking. (I only applied one coat): I did three tests, the first I let the lipstick set and pressed my lips down hard with a tissue; the second I wiped my lips not softly, but also not brutally….I wiped them as if I wiped off food; the third I went the entire day with my lipstick and forgot to take a picture but again I ended up with a lip liner, the inner parts of my lips had no lipstick. For reference; I have a light, neutral skin tone, normal skin, and natural black hair. Now, it may not meet all of its expectations but it is an amazing formula, it is vibrant and beautiful in one application, it makes my lips feel great and honestly a little setting powder seals it and gives you a longevity that certainly comes close to 10 hours if you wish not to have to reapply it. The color selection is also beautiful and worth trying.

Extremely Drying/Beautiful Colour

Gorgeous, vivid siren red! Sadly, it’s extremely drying. It looks terrible after a very short time because it’s so dehydrating that the colour not only fades but accentuates the lips in my lips with vivid siren red! So on it’s own, I’d give it 1-star. But I experimented with Dior Lip Oil over top and it’s very beautiful! I also tried my Laneige Berry Glowy Balm and that was lovely and hydrating too! In short, you essentially need two products to make this lippie vibrant and long-lasting. I don’t mind using another product but I certainly don’t think it’s reasonable at this pricey cost to need to pay for a second lip product when there are much better lipsticks one could buy.

Good, if you are consistent with lipcare

I really wanted to try this, and I'm not disappointed. Color is super pretty, it really doesn't transfer and it's really comfortable to wear. That being said, I can't wear this when my lips are dry and chapped because it will emphasize all the cracking and flacking of your lips.So I've made it part of my routine to use a thick lip mask at night so that my lips are moisturized and plump the next morning, and if I do have some flacking, then I exfoliate my lips. Yes, this adds some extra steps on my routine, but honestly, it's not just to be able to use this lipstick, it's just good to better take care of your lips.Also, this lipstick won't go on well if you have other products on your lips, like remaining lip balm or lip mask. Again, it's not uncomfortable but it is present and there's probably a couple of other similar products from different brands that feel more or slightly more hydrating. Even so, it's a BUY!

I’m absolutely in love with this Powermatte lipstick! First the packaging is so good that it matches the lipstick shade, so if you have a few you can just look at the packet and know what colour you’re getting!The applicator is lovely and fits your lips perfect so I feel I didn’t need a lipliner, which I prefer! With the first swipe the colour payoff is amazing you don’t need to go over it to get the full colour!I was also really impressed with how hydrating it was, I tried it when I had really dry lips, I put a bit of lip balm on first then lipstick and you couldn’t tell, I find this is so rare for matte lipsticks!Lastly staying power, for me it lasted hours, through coffees until I had some food, I needed to top it up after that but I’ve never found a lipstick ... MoreI’m absolutely in love with this Powermatte lipstick! Misleading YSL color. Its not #12 . Its #45

I purchased this lip set just because for the mini YSL #12 coral domain lipstick . How disappointed I was to open it and it is #45 which is rouge tuxedo. If you normally don't wear this color you won't know its not coral domain. The bottom of the lipstick doesn't state the color but just the number. But this is my to go lipstick and I noticed right away the shade is off. I get this set due to mini to fit in my makeup bag. My favorite ysl color is included. I attached a photo to show you mine ( left) and the new (#45) . Its a prepackage lipset so i can't even blame bloomingdales.com for grabbing wrong one. It was packaged wrong before it hit bloomingdales . I am very disappointed. However, maybe I got a box that was accidentally wrong. Solid, Reliable Choice for Bold Colors

I have been a long-time fan of Nars lipsticks for many reasons. Their formulas are great, they tend to be far less drying than other long-wear formulas, and their formulations do not contain any off-putting fragrances. One of their older formulas - Nars Pure Matte Lipstick - was always my go-to for special events because it looked so immaculate, didn't dry my lips, and wore evenly throughout the day/night. long lasting and minimal transfer!
