Neostrata Correct Antioxidant Defense Serum - 30ml

This serum has a medium amount of scent. It's not as smelly as some facial products, but it definitely has a weird scent. I am not a fan of added scents in skin care. The texture of the serum is thicker than some of the serums I have used but runnier than others, so middle of the road. I found the texture kind of sticky. It did not seem to absorb in as fast as other serums that I use and have used which made it awkward for putting on facial oil after. I found that my face stung after putting on the serum. I have sensitive skin that is combination. I did not experience any breakouts or reactions that I noticed. I also didn't notice any great improvements but I didn't use it for long enough to properly judge this I'm sure. I received a sample size portion of this serum in an influenster box along with a full size Neostrata product. I’ve been trying this serum for a while now and i do actually like this. The texture of the serum is initially sticky, but as you massage it into the skin, the tackiness does mostly go away to the point where it doesn’t bother me anymore. I have to note that the smell does smell kind of like medicine but does dissipate as it dries in a few minutes. I do tend to limit fragrance products because I think I may have an sensitivity, but there’s something nostalgic for me about the smell so I’m ok with it lol. It may not be for everyone though. I have used the Neostrata serum for 2 days with the neostrata overnight treatment. My skin is so soft. The serum is a watery consistency and very light. The scent is a light scent and almost smells a bit like wine. It felt fine on my skin just a little tingling at first. This serum is designed to help protect your skin against pollution and environmental factors such as dryness or sun damage. It has PHA's which stands for polyhydroxy acids they minimize visable damage and repair your skin. They are the next generation of AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) which help exfoliate and repair scarring, sun spots and congestion. Pha's exfoliate and fight uv damage from within. I got a sample of this along side the anti pollution treatment. I like the ingredient list, the combination of AHA/PHA together and vitamins C and E. The consistency of the serum was a thicker yellow fluid that went on nicely after cleanser and toner/essence. I see people reporting that it was too sticky to thick but I did not have that issue as I am use to serum with this kind of consistency. I am not able to elaborate too much, the 2mL sample size was about a 2 night use. I was not able to see a big difference in my skin in that time. But it did feel nice on the skin and under a moisturizer and I did not wake up with any skin irritations. I’m unsure about this one. It made my face feel really balanced and hydrated. My skin felt very comfortable, which it seldom does because it’s so dry, but after using this product for the second day I woke up the next day with bumps and texture all over my face and neck. I only had a small sample, but I’m not sure if I would use it again. It felt so comfortable, so maybe it wasn’t what gave me a rash or maybe combined with other products it was too much for my sensitive skin? I’m unsure. One more thing to note, this serum definitely has a strong floral fragrance. So if you don’t like fragrances skin care this may not be the one for you. This serum has a really runny consistency; therefore, it is quite messy to apply and you can pump out too much product to apply. This is one of those serums that a little product really goes a long way, as it tends to leave an overly sticky layer on your skin, when you don't. It does leave a nice layer on your skin in order to help lock in that moisture throughout the night. This serum is best to be used along with their anti-pollution overnight treatment! Together, you wake up with refreshed and well hydrated skin. Perfect for the dry Alberta weather. Also worth noting, this product is fragrance-free which is always a win in my books because fragrance can sometimes be an irritant to my skin!

Although it's difficult to see whether this product would have a significant effect on my skin from a sample size, I would not be purchasing the full size because it left my skin feeling tacky and sticky and it doesn't absorb well. It has a yellow hue but goes on clear. I was even more hesitant when I looked at the ingredient list on the back of the package - the 3rd ingredient is alcohol which means there's a significant amount of it and this is known to dry out the deep layers of the skin. It also has synthetic pigments and dyes in it.
