SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense Serum - 30ml

I purchased Skinceuticals Phloretin CF, Skinceuticals Sunscreen, Discolouration Defense and Skinceuticals Retinol worth USD 300 from Dermstore. Three of the four products did not have an expiry date and caused severe damage to my skin. Even though the products are marketed as suitable for sensitive skin , these caused severe rash and damaged my skin barrier. Disappointment

I have been usingbSkinceuticals nearly a year now. I was buying the products when I was living ın Turkey and the products tranformed my skin from dark spots and acne oriented to clean and balanced tone skin. I moved to US and 2 months ago and first thing I ordered my routine. Discoloration serum arrived to me in dark color and I thought they have changed the formula. When I read these reviews I realized that I was sent a serum who is not usable and I am using it for 3 weeks now. I was suspecting that it did not give the same effect as my previpus products. I am really disappointed these are high value products and we can not throw our money like that. I am waiting for a corrective measure

Don't Order - Ridiculous

I bought this product directly from the SkinCeuticals website. I got a bottle of brown serum - already oxidized and ineffective. I called for a replacement - which was also arrived dark brown. I called again and they sent me a second replacement which arrived - also sealed and also the same dark brown serum in color. No one disputes that it's defective. I didn't want another, but rather than some other resolution but they insisted on sending me another, which they did not until I called AGAIN, and guess what? The third bottle was dark brown and defective also. Awful quality control and customer service is worse yet. So disappointed.

I really wanted to love this, but I think it’s just ok. The pluses for me are that it’s relatively light (though slightly sticky) odorless, definitely does not clog pores. The minuses are the packaging-I just do not understand the mouth of these bottles and the dropper applicator. I’m always worried about spilling, and air entering the product. For what SkinCeuticals charges, you’d think they’d offer airless pump packaging. Getting past that, I simply do not know if this really did anything for me. I understand it could take months to work, but after 6 months of daily use, I didn’t see much of a difference. When I started using prescription hydroquinone (Somewhat controversial ingredient, I know) I definitely saw improvement, but I can’t say how much this one did ... MoreI really wanted to love this, but I think it’s just ok. Melasma and discoloration really stink, so any product that can possibly help is worth a try. You can definitely do worse than this formula, but you can also do better, imho. No adverse effects for me, but not looking to repurchase.

They responded online with an apology asking me to call toll free and provide a reference number they provided. That's a farce. The reference number means nothing. The issue was never resolved. As I read old reviews I see that they have recently changed their tune. Suddenly, it's ok if the serum is darker in color "to golden". (Well it's not. It's dark brown and sits dark brown on your skin.) And the fact that this is fine is not what they were saying in earlier responses to reviews. Not the best results for discoloration.

I have used this product all summer, and I don't really notice improvement. The bottle came sealed, but the product was a dark amber, not light yellow'ish like the other serums I use from Skinceuticals. I wonder if the product was past its efficacy being it was so oxidized and dark from the get-go.For years they offered a product (little green bottle) that contained the kojic acid that I need for my discoloration. For whatever reason my skin responds best to kojic acid for my melasma and dark spots. It was magic, but sadly Skinceuticals discontinued. They have a moisturizer (also green) but it just doesn't compare to the old green serum with kojic acid.

I also think it’s more shelf stable than vitamin C, so it’s fine. My major great with SkinCeuticals products is the packaging. The fairly wide mouth on the bottle and the clunky, large glass dropper is just not ideal. I would love to see the brand consider more airless pump packaging. Considering what everything costs, I don’t think it’s too much to ask that our investment be protected. Always afraid I’m gonna tip these over when applying. Overall, perfectly fine product, just not thinking I will re-purchase a 3rd time. If you love SkinCeuticals and are looking to brighten skin, it’s worth a try. I really can’t say that it does much for true melasma or PIH, its still worth a try though! Note that if it does work for you at all, expect to wait at least 4 to 6 months. Consistency is key. Period after all said and done, the only thing that works for me was a prescription product. I can still say the formula is nice enough to try.

Quality

I just bought this in a Bluemercury retailer and upon opening product, solution yellow. This would’ve been my 3rd bottle. 1st time when I use it. I thought solution white turning yellow was ok, however I found the product did not work. When I went to Portugal, I bought same product which was clear, never changed color, worked wonderfully. A lot of my hyperpigmentation cleared. Now 3rd bottle, yellow again. Definitely will return. I just hope there are clear color products available because that means product is old, lacking quality.

Works Wonder

Purchased this after suffering from an adult hormonal acne flare that left post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation around my chin and jaw area. I tried Musely to help fade the dark spots, but it didn’t work for me. Left my skin irritated and caused more whiteheads. Read reviews on Discoloration Defense and decided to try it out. It’s been about 4 weeks and the spots are fading really well without any skin irritation. It’s also been helping minimize blackheads and whiteheads, especially when paired with Skinceuticals Retinol 0.5% every other night. Will definitely repurchase.
