I don't have an ethernet cable from the house to the storage building. In order to get the cams talking back to the router, I had to use a NETGEAR Powerline adapter Kit, 1200 Mbps Wall-plug, 1.2 Gigabit Ethernet Ports with Passthrough + Extra Outlet (PLP1200-100PAS). One adapter plugged into the storage building power receptacle and the other plugged into the wall right next to my router. The problem is that using the power lines throughout the house (which go in every different direction), the link was extremely weak (showing red on the power line adapter) as a poor connection. I've lived with it for a few years and got fed up when I needed to replay some video and found that the video was choppy. Like seeing one frame every 5-10 seconds. That was the final straw. I really didn't want to cut up the decorative patio pavers in between the house and storage building to dig in a conduit for ethernet, so I needed a different solution. Hence, I went onto netgear.com and started looking at the various Extenders. I don't have wifi 6 nor do I need it or want it right now. I'm perfectly happy with wifi 5. So, I saw this extender that was dual-band and said AC1900 just like my router. I read many reviews and thought, why not try it. I'm so glad I did. If you have a distance problem like me, please read on, because I took extra steps to make this extender work for my purposes.I first set it up using WPS, like they recommend. You're setting it up next to your router BEFORE you take it out a distance. That said, it obviously connected to the 5G network and kept my SSID and passwords. I thought "that was easy". Then I took it out to my storage building, plugged it in and waited for the router link light. It never came on. I couldn't even get a poor connection light (red). I knew the problem. I was 80' away from the router and 5G doesn't carry very far. My phone always works out there but only when I'm connected to the 2.4G network. Was that a problem? Nope.I went back to my office and reset the Extender back to factory settings. I then logged into my router and turned off the 5G SSID broadcast and applied the new settings to the router. This way, I knew that the new Extender setup would only detect broadcasted SSID's; no hidden networks. Then I connected a laptop directly to the Extender and went to mywifiext.net and walked through the setup. When you get to that step of detecting available networks, it will ONLY find the 2.4G network. Then I selected my 2.4G network SSID, put in the password and connected it. All lights were green. Here's an important step...don't forget to do it...log back into your router and make sure you enable the 5G SSID Broadcast and apply the settings to the router. Then I took the Extender to my storage building, plugged it in, waited 1-2 minutes for it to boot up, and WOW, I got a green light on the router link light. I knew this was going to work. Not only that, my phone would only get the one curved wifi bar when using 2.4G network. Now, I have all bars!!! The wireless part of the Extender is working like a charm.I disconnected that PoE switch ethernet cable from the power line adapter and plugged it into the Extender. Double WOW. I pulled up my cameras on the phone and those four cams are no longer delayed. I see every frame back to the recorder. My only regret...should have bought the extender a long time ago. Some may think that 2.4G is too slow. Perhaps if you're a gamer. However, for HD cams, I can tell you that this was worth every penny. Seriously, so many people think they need the extra speed even though they're using only a fraction of the bandwidth. I do have my TV connected to 5G as well as the computers, laptops, and iPads. However, the 2.4G works excellent for the stuff outside and the cams. I hope this explanation helps someone who has a similar problem. I'm one extremely satisfied customer right now.

Setup was an easy process. I contacted support with a question and received an answer from the first person I spoke with. It is plugged into attached garage outlet that is farthest away from my router. It extends my network outside approx40' to an unattached garage which allows me to run car system updates durectly, without USB, use garage door app, and use Alexa in that garage too. Rooms that had inadequate connections everywhere inside my home no longer have glitches

This ac1900 was super easy to setup and works great in either mode. As an access point I can plug a CAT5 cable in and use my laptop with a wired connection. As a wifi extender it adds significant range to my network. With added strength and speed I am able to connect toy home from the entry of my neighborhood which is 100 yards away. It also really helps me when I am flying my 5g drones! Bravo Netgear!!!!!

My internet suddenly nose dived this year. I couldn’t fix it. I tired direct connections to my router, port forwarding, you name it—nothing worked. However, when I installed my NETGEAR AC1900 Mesh WiFi Extender my problems disappeared. It turns out my issue stemmed from too much bandwidth, and this baby stretched my internet’s capabilities big-time. My internet speeds and downloads have never been this fast! Great product! 10/10!
I’ve had a RAC120 router for a few years. We moved and finally had blazing speeds but needed service in the separate garage. We added an EAX80 and got comparable speeds there. I wanted to be able to chill on our decks and hot tub so we recently installed an EX6400v2. I’m writing this review from the comfort of our deck with no loss of speed. It was easy to connect to our existing service and its compact plugin design allowed for a variety of locations. We did have a power outage recently and the unit wouldn’t restart. I received a replacement in less than a week.
I needed to extend and boost my wifi signal. After careful debate, I decided on the Nighthawk AC1900 WIFI PLUGIN EXTENDER. It was more than what I had planned on spending, but felt it was worth it. I ordered it from BESTBUY about 9am on a Saturday and received by 4pm the same day. I was excited. I downloaded the Nighthawk App, followed instruction to install, twice. I could not get it to function with my Verizon Frios router. I call netgear Customer help line. Tech remoted into my network to diagnose my problem. After being on hold, the tech came back and told me thatI needed to pay another $15 or $50 (I couldn't really understand tech due to tech heavy accent) for a needed software. I explained that the unit just did an update. She stated that the software had to be paid for with her and that it must be installed by a tech. I explained that I just paid almost $200 for the extender and asked if there was another netgear model that doesn't require additional software. The tech hug up on me. I then. Allen best buy, and they approved the unit to be returned for a return. I'm looking at Linksysor other brands. Greatly disappointed.
The extender works great! NOTE TO BUYERS: THIS IS NOT A ROUTER. It will boost the signal through areas that get little to no coverage, but is not meant to be used to improve your internet speed. That being said, this thing works wonderfully. It allows me to game in the far corner of my house where there is a high amount of signal interference. It's design is wonderful, doesn't block both parts of the outlet and doesn't take up too much space, so after setting it up you may never have to see it again except to tinker with it or move it some place else. I recommend it to anybody having range issues with their internet.
I was having Wi-Fi issues throughout certain areas of my home. Main issue was my master bedroom. Doing homework late night and it would take forever. Very painful process, after a year I finally broke down and bought the extender. Changed everything, the Wi-Fi is. WAY faster throughout my entire yard, home, garage, porches, attic. You name it, like I said an absolute game changer I would have paid anything to experience this type of connection. Everything is much simpler now, takes way less time.
I only have a 1700 sq ft house. I also work in the internet industry. The routing in my house required my main router to be in the front living room. I tried back-feeding a signal and using the router function, ultimately to decide that the range extender is enough. I have all hardwired hardware where it can be but needed just a little boost on wifi, perfectly fit my needs. Quick setup and it works, which is something to be said in this industry.
I purchased this product new on Amazon in April, 2022 based on positive reviews to extend my home Wifi into my home office for Zoom calls. It worked well for two months but then started having a reliability issue. Each day it would drop the internet connection from my router, which was a problem because then my Zoom calls for work would drop. Each time I checked the internet connection from the router it was fine, so the issue was with the Netgear extender. To reconnect to the router I'd have to unplug the Netgear extender, plug it back in and wait a few minutes for the connection to reestablish, which was not practical for Zoom calls. After that I switched to a TP-link Deco mesh WiFi product, which was less expensive and has worked consistently well for Zoom calling.
