When I first opened the box I was a little intimidated.The small units did not look like mechanical tools, but were attractive on the shelf. Instructions were easy to follow and clearly written. I followed them and downloaded the Orbi app to my tablet and phone. Everything you need to keep track of your router and satellites is on this easy to operate app. I spent more time trying to find the best location for the two satellites than I did setting the router up to our cable internet provider. It has been on for a week and has not dropped a connection yet. The family is happy with the strength of their connections over the house. So I got this mesh system to replace my router and repeater that were driving me nuts with reliability issues. This system works great! I'm getting 5g connections reliably whereas in the past, I only got that connection close to my router or repeater. I'd say the range of these is great! Also, of note, I don't see that the speed decreases when the signal is being received by the satellite unit. I get 120mbps five feet from the main unit, and I get that much connected to the satellite 20 feet away. Really remarkable! Oh, and this: it works great with a tv streaming video in one part of the house while several other items are also attached with no reliability issues. I purchased this at Costco. The app on Android could be refined as I cannot read a couple of lines hear and there, but in general I love it. Our house is 3,500 Sq Ft with three floors and I had repeaters everywhere... Nightmade. This Mesh system covers the whole house! In my shop which is in my backyard 43 feet from the closest satellite it had 80% signal. My dreams have come true. Once in a while my shop signal switches to 2.4 ghz for some reason and can't figure out why, but I plan to add another Satellite, just wish there was one rated for outdoors! Overall I am very happy with this system.

I updated my existing equipment to Orbi after reading several articles and reviews. It was on sale too. My original cable and router were in my office, about 30' from the living area. Speed and coverage were dropping off even with a Netgear extender as I knew it would. I only found one Youtube vid on setup help. Netgear Orbi should put one out on Youtube, it would help tremendously. I apparently missed something after d/n of Orbi app and in trying to follow the setup directions. I finally called support..had to google for a telephone number as I found nothing listed on the sparse setup card. English is not one of their strong suits, but they were friendly and really tried to fix/help with my issues. I was cut off twice, but ...yahooo!... support called back ... Support walked me thru everything again and all works really well. My top internet speed of 200 is maintain thru out my 1900 sqft single level house. No dropping off. Remember to again re-boot your new Orbi router after you install the 'firmware/driver update.' My internet speed was slow as mooolassses until it dawned on me to re-boot router. It immediately bumped my speeds to my normal 200 .
Bought this two months ago to replace the xFi modem I was renting through Comcast. From the modem to the computer I'm pulling around 950 mbps download and around 40 mbps upload speeds. As soon as I connect the Orbi my speed immediately drops to no better than 300 mbps while standing right next to the router unit. One of the satellites will not maintain a good connection no matter where I place it and one maintains the "green" connection...although the best speed I can hope to get while standing right next to that one is about 100 mbps. My xFi router I was renting was FAR superior to this and I've just thrown away close to $400 with the purchase of the Netgear router with this mesh system. Purchased for a good clearance price.Pros:-WorksCons:-No QoS settings. Only WMM. Most competitor products include this (QoS) basic feature.-Makes it difficult to setup without using the app. I'd much rather use the traditional web browser setup. The app requires you to create an account and automatically registers the product for you.-App shows only a fraction of the available settings and information available on the configuration web portal-The Circle app is required for parental controls. Again, this should have been incorporated directly into the configuration web portal like many competitors products do.-Unable to turn off 5 GHz channel.-Unable to set own DNS servers (settings grayed out)
I recently upgraded my old router to Netfear Orbi gigabit mesh WiFi system. I can clearly see the difference in internet speed. It’s really very easy to configure through their app. With app You can manage all devices connected to your router. Also other must needed features available like guest WiFi setup, parental control, etc. it’s a dual band router which automatically pick up devices supported 2.4 GHZ and 5.0 GHZ bandwidth so you don’t have to configured two different bandwidth connections. This router support multiple devices simultaneously and I personally connected more than 20 devices and all device get good internet speed at the same time. It’s a must buy product If you looking to upgrade your old device and reasonable price compare to other competitors.

Kept failing to sync after multiple tries using instructions. Went online and followed other users advice to bring satellites close to router, setup one at a time, and press/hold reset button on satellite for 30 seconds (quick push doesn’t work). Then I placed satellite in their final destinations, took about 2 minutes for all units to power up and sync. Software on my iPhone is easy to use. You get device info, signal strength and which router/satellite your device is connected to. I also have an eero pro in my weekend home. That is a 2 piece unit. The old router was just worn out after 6 years, and it never fully covered our house anyway - weak spots upstairs. So we upgraded to the Orbi, which comes with a satellite unit to extend the coverage area. It's been a week and we haven't reset the Orbi yet! And no more weak spots. My family is very pleased with the Orbi. Great value. All the interesting statistics and controls on the phone app are just a bonus to me. \nNo need to spend the money on the Google Nest or the more expensive options that are out there.
