So the combination is best. If you take a peek at your SPF and find it doesn’t meet these standards just finish up what you have because you should never throw something away. When you run out you’ll be prepared to upgrade your sunscreen game. Follow my “press and massage” method to apply your sunscreen without a white cast. And then my “hot spot” rule to know when to reapply. Let’s also not argue about SPF. I know recently that some products were found to have ingredients that are known to be cancer-causing. To me so is the sun. As a mineral sunscreen, I understand that for a dark skinned indidvidual it’s going to be a task to ‘blend’. I find it leaves a white cast on my face however I use this sunscreen under my makeup to remedy that issue. It’s moisturizing without leaving your skin oily and it provides great sun protection without irritating the eyes. In terms of smell it’s ‘unscented’. ‘Unscented’ as in smells a bit like oatmeal but honestly it’s not bad. I can say I like this product.

Do not use if you have tan skin!

I am Asian and my skin is a lightish tan color. This sunscreen, even when rubbed in thoroughly, left a strong white cast. It is impossible to use a good amount for full coverage (you need a teaspoon / quarter sized amount! no little dabs!) without making me look super pale. Mixing it with foundation helped, but it still made me lighter.The one pro about this product is that it gave me no irritation, unlike other sunscreens (chemical ones) that I've tried.the attached picture shows before and after. I rubbed it in really good for a solid minute. The whiteness only gets slightly better after waiting 10min for it to sink in more

Well...it's a sunscreen without the ingredients that hurt the environment. It does it's job by protecting your face fun the harm the sun exposure can give. That's really it.This stuff is THICK, it just refuses to rub in all the way. It's horribly greasy. The white cast it causes is absolutely insane! It does NOT do well under foundation of any kind, or how light of application you may do. My makeup separates, and it melts off my T-zone, yet amazingly manages to stay deep inside my pores making awful yellow dots. Definitely not swear or water-proof. I don't need a sunscreen that's specially made for the face. Honestly go for a different Neutrogena sunscreen that's meant for the body. Leaves an unbelievable white cast

I am quite fair, and typically the lightest shade in most foundations, but I have really sensitive skin so sometimes chemical sunscreen is just too much for my skin and leaves me even more sensitive. I thought since their sunscreens tend to be so good that this wouldn't be any different. However, even though I'm really fair, this product still leaves a noticeable white cast on me that never truly sinks into the skin. I really can't recommend this product for anyone of any skin tone, which is a shame because Neutrogena's chemical sunscreens are top notch.

Not sheer at all!

I chose this mineral face sunscreen because of its price point and its trusted brand name. My dermatologist recommends mineral sunscreen because of my very fair, sensitive skin with rosacea. I wanted something to wear under my BB cream that has sunscreen but that I was afraid didn't realistically offer that much protection. WHOA. Maybe I got a bad batch or maybe I didn't know how to properly apply it, but this stuff (I'm sorry, Neutrogena) is nasty! As another reviewer said, the texture is like paste. I had to work to get my skin to absorb it. Even after it was absorbed I looked like a ghost, and a sickly ghost at that. I'm going to look for something else and this time read the reviews more carefully.

The best face sunscreen I've tried.

The best “face” sunscreen I’ve used. I have always had a problem with sunscreens being too oily and running into my eyes once I start to sweat. This is the ONLY one I’ve ever tried that doesn’t do this. I’ve tried a handful of other brands who claim they have a specific sunscreen for the face, and they all run into my eyes once I start sweating. The only downside is this leaves your face with a white paste look and is difficult to rub in to where you don’t have the white tint on your face. Not a deal breaker, but that’s why I gave it 4 stars.

Unpleasant Smell

It does leave a white cast. A little less so than some other sunscreens I've tried, but enough (even under makeup) to make it not really workable for me. But the worse characteristic, for me, was the smell. It smelled like ... a tire? I looked at reviews of this same product on another site to see if anyone else reported something similar. Someone said it smells like burned rubber. I wouldn't say it's a strong smell, but it's noticeable and makes me wonder about the ingredients.

good mineral sunblock

The physical sunblock in this is zinc. If you are looking for a safe and effective product for kids or yourself, this works and doesn't have the chemical sunscreens that people can be sensitive to. For my purposes, this worked well. It was easier to rub in and more sheer than other similar products I've tried, but guys, it's still zinc. Do not expect it to be a clear gel. That's not how mineral sunblock works. Also the review that said this was "on the benzene list" is wrong. I triple checked. Maybe they were confused because everything that was tested was on the list, but the far right column showed the lab results and no Neutrogena zinc sunscreen had detectable amounts.

what would you rather have?

I would gladly have a white film of sunblock on my face than skin cancer. I was recently diagnosed w/precanerous sun spots on my face and have had to go through getting the spots frozen and also using an ointment that has similar effects. The results of this have left my face temporarily red, scabbed and wishing I had paid attention to the warnings of sun damage. If I only knew then what I know now.....WEAR SUNBLOCK, all day, every day. Who cares if it leaves a white film on your skin, that means it's working. I recently got a compliment from someone saying they liked my highlights on my face....I told them it was sunblock. Wear it and stop complaining about the white, thickness. I wish I would have.
