The video recording quality of this camera depends on which compatible nextbase dashcam you purchase, as well as the recording settings that you have. The maximum video quality on this device is actually only 1920 x 1080p 30fps with its other setting being 720p 30fps. The actual camera ball section is magnetically attached to the mounting system so it allows for the camera direction to be easily changed or attached to a different mounting mechanism. The only downside is that the magnet on the camera is only on the top, which means that the cable attached to the camera, may get in the way in when trying to rotate the camera angle to look in some directions.

This is the Cabin View camera, just in case you need that specific one, or are thinking that it’s the Rear View only one they make. I know it’s not specified in the title. And they both look exactly the same. This is the one I needed and I took the chance based on it referencing “wide” and what some of the description said, so I’m glad I got the right one. Was a great deal, cheapest anywhere at the current market. Arrived fast. Simple setup, pretty much plug and play and works great.

I was probably one the 1st users of this dashcam in Australia and had many issues with it from the beginning, but the biggest problem just happened recently where I had an accident and seriously required footage for insurance claims. To my biggest surprise and mental turmoil the dashcam had not recorded any footage of the scene and I know why, but the company does not want to talk about it and has not taken any responsibility to fix the issue -which lies in design and operating system of it- thus far after 2 months. Definitely not worth the price tag and definitely not a trustworthy device in your accidents. Just a hyped piece of garbage!!

Essential to purchase this add on rear view camera for all round protection and peace of mind. Quality sticky pad which sticks hard. I have a boot which opens and the magnet is very good and the camera never moves which is good. Plenty of wire if you have a long vehicle. Coverage good quality when looking back over recordings. It will fill up the sd card quicker so you will have to format the sd card more often or get a bigger higher sd card. I did have to reset the main dashcam unit when I first installed the add on camera as the picture kept flashing. My advise if your having problems using the app is to turn off your mobile data and make sure your wifi is on only so it does not interrupt with interference. Also I have a fine tinted rear window and the add on camera still works good so that's good. All in all you need front and rear protection for peace of mind in my opinion. Worth the buy.
The camera itself is great. Good focus, and wide angle. However, fitting it completely knocked out my DAB radio signal. This is apparently a known issue, but Nextbase do not include the required suppressor with the camera, as they do with the front facing camera…Suppressor is cheap and simple to fit - it’s a simple split ferrite tube. But if you don’t know about it, you’ll have to go back into the car’s headlining to fit it, when you find your radio is u/s. !
Great little camera, but, needs more cable. I installed this in my 2012 Nissan Xterra, which is a mid sized, short wheel base, SUV. My plan, to avoid running the cable near the upper side curtain airbags, was to run from the dash cam, to the nearest a-pillar, down to the floor, and along the kick panels, then back up the rear, and across to the rear camera. When I got to the rear cargo area, I realized, I was going to be about two feet shy of reaching the center of the rear window. I ended up having to remove all of my upper interior trim, and thread it carefully below the side curtain bags anyway. An extra few feet of included cable, wouldn't be that much of a cost difference. And, it's easier to tuck away extra cable, than try to find an extension on short notice. ... MoreGreat little camera, but, needs more cable. And, it's easier to tuck away extra cable, than try to find an extension on short notice. The picture quality of the camera, paired with my 322GW, is pretty good, the camera has a nice, wide view, and, is easily adjusted. My concerns going forward, are how well the camera's magnets will hold position over rough roads and terrain. And, how well the double sided tape will hold to the glass, as it was easily peeled off, and repositioned. Overall though, aside from having to route the cable where I didn't want to, the camera seems to be of very good quality, and should serve it's purpose well.
I’d been after a rear cam for a while but having the old Nextbase 312GW limited me as this model wasn’t compatible and couldn’t simply be plugged in to my existing cam. I eventually took the plunge and replaced my whole set up, settling on the new Nextbase 622GW. I hardwired this into my car so it activates as soon as the ignition is engaged, it also enables parking mode when the car is parked up idle. From there on in I could simply just plug in the rear camera and feed the wires back. The wires are tucked away in the front headlining and down the rubber door seal, fed along the length of the car into the rear and up into the boot via the rubber conduit. It’s discrete as you like and there are no unsightly wires hanging. To be fair, this isn’t a feature of the cam ... The wires are tucked away in the front headlining and down the rubber door seal, fed along the length of the car into the rear and up into the boot via the rubber conduit. It’s discrete as you like and there are no unsightly wires hanging. To be fair, this isn’t a feature of the cam itself, but I like that it’s an immaculate install. The cam is discrete and is a lot smaller than pictured. It doesn’t obscure my rear windshield and the majority of the time you don’t even notice that it’s there. The wire feeds neatly up into the boot headlining to give a simple and seamless look with no unsightly wires hanging down. The sticky pad is very durable and sticks to the windshield like glue, I’m not looking forward to having to take it off to transfer when I change my car next year! The magnetic mount is okay and much stronger than I expected, it doesn’t fall off when opening and closing the boot. It does however rotate slightly with movement so in the first few weeks I was forever having to adjust it to make sure it was straight in order to satisfy my ocd. I eventually stopped this as the very slightly slanted angle that it’s at doesn’t really make much of a difference as it’s only a few degrees, it still captures everything you want it to.The footage quality is good but it doesn’t always capture the registrations of other vehicles, depending on time of day, lighting, speed travelled at and the speed of any passing vehicles, etc. If it’s right behind you, any reg will be captured, but even above 30mph you struggle to get a reg for anything further away from you. I’d definitely buy a 4K module if it was brought to the market. Note to Nextbase though - you need to make any future products compatible with previous models! If an updated rear view cam were to be released but couldn’t be used with my 622, there’s no way I’d start again and replace my whole setup. At £49.99 it’s slightly overpriced but I’m happy with the quality and the security that it provides. The app seems simple enough to operate and is a major improvement on the cam viewer app for the first gen cams.
I use two of these, one in each of my cars. In general it is an excellent product that does its job well. The cable is an ample 6.5m and sturdy. My only gripe about the product is the attachment connector from the short camera cable to the 6.5m cable. It is bulky to conceal being so near the camera. Also the short camera cable is very stiff meaning you have to leave a lot of it exposed to be able to twist the camera on its magnetic mount to the correct position. Recommended product.
Bought with a 322gw camera. Separate not as a bundle as it was cheaper. I fitted this myself as it has the plastic tool with it. I watched a youtube video first. Was easy to do. Had to connect the add on camera first, then the wire into the dash cam before switching my 322gw dashcam on. It doesn't recognise the rear cam if you connect the rear cam after. I was forgetting to attach it before but have got into a habit, so not a problem now.Its magnetic so easily attaches to the rear mount. Practice makes the mounting perfect. As I have a point on the rear where I know to position it at, makes it easy with no fiddling to get the right position.Crisp clear picture in picture. Happy with purchase. Gives some peace of mind now.
After being involved in a non-fault car wreck two months ago, my NextBase Dashcam was invaluable. Proved that we were not at fault and made the claim process so smooth. As soon as we received our Jeep back from repairs, I went ahead and ordered the companion NextBase rear view camera to attach to my NextBase 322GW dash cam.Set up was really simple, attached it to the rear window with the supplied 3M sticky pad and mount. Then left enough slack for the tailgate to open (this is essential or you'll pull it off the back window the first time you open it). Ran the cable all the way from the back of the tailgate, along the headliner so it's all nice and tucked away. Went inside the door trim rubber gasket, around the A pillar and along the front of the headliner, tucking the cable in with a auto trim tool. Finally popped the connector down from the headliner parallel to the power cord and plugged it directly into the camera. Total install time was about 15 mins.As soon as it's plugged in, the dash cam recognizes it (you do need the dash cam to operate this camera, it is NOT a stand alone camera). It gives you a picture in picture of the rear view in the LCD display. Nice and clear, great quality video.Really happy with the ease of use, and the NextBase desktop app is phenomenal, provides so much data that is very useful for the Police/Insurance adjuster, including exact GPS positioning, speed, g-force of the impact etc.Overall, very happy with the purchase, and having gone through it once this year already, I will be more than happy if I never 'have' to use this product, as evidence of a situation. Total piece of mind add-on for $68.
