I bought this to have on hand to make up rance dressing or ranch flavored powder whenever I wanted. I live outside the US where ranch isn't available. I have used this mixed with breadcrumbs and dried herbs as a coating for chicken. The issue is that the buttermilk powder burns a lot more quickly than the bread crumbs do so you have to be really careful not to let it burn. I have also used this to add flavor in a vinaigrette salad dressing, as one might use parmesan cheese. It was good, but all in all it wasn't the amazing ingredient I was hoping it would be before I bought it. I didn't end up using the entire 14 oz. bag before it expired. I did keep it in the fridge to try to extend the shelf life. If I buy this again I think I'd better make a more detailed plan on ... MoreI bought this to have on hand to make up rance dressing or ranch flavored powder whenever I wanted. This is on the cheaper side and it is a good option for me. My bag popped though. It is sad that it almost always has a shorter expiry date but I feel safe keeping it well sealed in my ref as it is dried powder anyway, as long as mine isn't contaminated.I tried using another brand even to make Filipino style polvoron and it works and does not even taste bad for it.I have added this to yeast doughs for a softer bread and also replaced milk in other recipes with this and water (this with dry ingredients and water with wet ingredients, that's how to add). It even works in cookies for a richer/chewier bite.I have not tried to reconstitute this and since I don't drink this straight, may never need to do so.I may have hoarded more of this if not for the shorter expiry ... MoreThis is on the cheaper side and it is a good option for me. I do not keep non-fat dry milk on hand anymore since it is more expensive and for me, this is sufficient for the same purpose in almost every way. You might wanna believe me there. This does not taste sour, but for recipes that call for buttermilk, I may consider adding just a tad bit of vinegar for more tang and acid.

Excellent quality and taste. A rare item to find in Japan. Gives smoothies and shakes a unique flavor. Will make buttermilk pancakes with it and I’m sure they’ll turn out just great. I know this because this power tastes convincingly like buttermilk. Now Foods always produces top quality products and ingredients. Thank you NF!

I bought it to make butter milk pancakes but it is not like real butter milk. You can actually sprinkle these on pop corn and make homemade ranch dressing. But that's about it and I still have it after some time, and I have plenty left. The real butter milk pancakes from fresh buttermilk tastes better. I wish Now comes up with some recipes because I don't know what to do with this powder form, and I have plenty left. Quality is not bad but packaging could be improved (cheap packaging...seal breaks). I just want more recipes on how to use this though. Overall ok.
Love this Buttermilk. I have been using buttermilk in my pancake and cakes. Its makes the cake so soft and fluffy plus there is so many benefit you get from using buttermilkGood for Our Digestive System. Buttermilk aids your digestive system with probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that support gut healthGood For Glowing Skin. I used it in my coffee to give me a boost of energy and it taste great . It contains contains lactic acid, which helps exfoliate and brighten your skin; I put some in my clay face mask or just make a buttermilk face mask. Definitely a product I recommend to always have .
I like to use this to replace milk in my gluten free baking to activate the baking soda once liquid is combined. It smells quite similar to milk powder. The colour is of a tinted yellow shade. Purchased this to compare it with Bob's Red Mill's buttermilk powder, which I think is pretty much similar. Won't mind repurchasing this. Please give a thumbs up if you find this useful.
NOW Foods Real Food Buttermilk Powder is excellent! The quality is great, with a rich and creamy flavor that enhances my baking and cooking. It's a convenient alternative to fresh buttermilk, and the size is generous, providing plenty for multiple recipes. Highly recommended for anyone who loves to bake or cook!
For something that's supposed to be, "sweet cream buttermilk powder", this reconstitutes to something like watery, sweet, low fat powdered milk with some tiny clumps... not like the tangy, soft and smooth clots of real buttermilk. I call BS. I purchased 2 of these, one for now, and one to tuck away for the apocalypse... lol. I use buttermilk to make homemade ranch dressing... this, whatever it is, did not work. It does not thicken, there is no tang and it adds a sicky sweet flavor that does not belong. Don't waste your money on this. I'm glad it was on sale when I purchased it. I will use the remainder as I would dried milk powder in recipes that call for milk, because that's what I think this mostly is.
I got this as I’ve got appendicitis and another two weeks to wait until surgery. I read positive things about buttermilk providing plentiful vitamins and helping reduce inflammation and that it’s an excellent low-fat source of protein. I mix 4 tablespoons of it with water and it tastes fantastic. It’s on the sweet side, like a low-fat milk, only very refreshing. Adding mint to it makes it extra fresh and it really helps my upset stomach.
Wow! I love NOWFoods Buttermilk Powder. I use it for dips and dressings. And I add it to my pancake and waffle mix for added flavor and protein. The resealable package stores nicely in the fridge for extra freshness(I put it in another freezer bag). Great product when you need buttermilk in a hurry- very convenient
