NYX Professional Makeup Shine Killer Primer 20 ml

I recently purchased the NYX Professional Makeup Shine Killer Primer in the Diamond Ice set and can say it is one of the best makeup primers I have used. It has a heavy silicone base and smoothes out the texture of my skin. It provides the perfect base for makeup application and keeps makeup placed on my combination-oily skin all day long. A pea sized amount over my skincare is all that is needed to hold my makeup with a nice matte finish and no oily shine in my t-zone. I purchased this set at a local Ross discount store for $5. Each product usually retails for at least as much at Target. I highly recommend this primer for combination and oily skin types.

NYX Pore Filler primer has become my holy grail #2 primer in my everyday makeup routine. #1 is by another brand but even used alone is a total game changer for those of us who have larger pores or for those of us who have pores at all ( aka ALL OF YOU GORGEOUS GIRLFRIENDS). I'll be honest the consistency of this product is nothing I had ever seen before and more often than not has been a challenge to get out of the tube and onto your fingers without it shooting across the vanity way more often than I like. After you are able to get what you can I suggest using a dampened beauty sponge and applying it that way by pressing it into your pore stricken areas. It differently is worth the battle. NYX, please consider repacking this primer into maybe a jar or plastic type container with a lid instead of a tube. I think it would really work better in a different type of package. Also, when used with NYX Shine Killer primer you get absolute great looking makeup all day and night and the pricing is awesome for the quality of product. There is zero scent and it’s cruelty free. For reference, I have normal skin but I tend to get oily in the heat and humidity. This kept my face pretty matte for hours. If you have really oily skin, you might have less time before you start to see shine but overall, I think this is a good, budget friendly primer. First I'm not a huge makeup person. I'm still learning about what I like and don't like and what works for me and all. With that being said I got a free makeup box and had this product in it. I figured I would try it out and I honestly liked it alot. I used it all over but then also did half my face with this and half with what I used to use and you could tell a Big difference!!! This product was Sooooo much better! I like that it is smooth to the skin feeling. I hate that greasy feeling but this didn't feel greasy. Which was a good thing! I like that no makeup...makeup look and feel. This product definitely feels like that. I am picky about smells also but this had a good smell to it. So if you are looking for a new product or you like testing makeup I suggest you try this out. Another thing is the price, it isn't alot of money but you would think it is because of how good it is. So on a scale of 1- 10 ( 10 being Good of course) I definitely say a BIG 10 in my book!!! This definitely stays in with my main makeup bag that has all my favorites in it or stuff I use everyday. The use of charcoal makes this product awful. It is not at all what it once was. Product separates, feels awkward applying, and performs poorly compared to before. You might have taken action to reinstate the old formula after receiving unfavourable review feedback on it. But no, you'll stick with it because a small number of people with very oily skin like it. Why not make the previous formula available again as a standalone product for the rest of us who don't require or enjoy charcoal? But instead, you will only provide a canned response and continue.

Awful

This product is horrendous with the added charcoal. Not at all what it use to be. Product separates, does not feel good applying, and does not do the job like it use to. You would think after getting the negative review feed back on this you would have done something to bring the old formula back. But no you will stay with it just for the handful of customers with extremely oily skin who like it. Why not added to old formula back as a separate product also for the rest of us who don't need or like the charcoal? But no you will just respond with a stock reply and carry on.

IN LOVE - FLAWLESS SKIN

First of all, I never write reviews. I have been having a hard time with cakey and flakey looking makeup.. I went to CVS looking for a new brand of primer and they didn't have the one I saw on YouTube. So I picked NYX - since I love and trust their lipstick - let me just say, WOW. I only used 3 tiny dots on my face, the parts of my face that get flakey or caked. I had a flawless smooth look all over after applying makeup. I do not understand these negative reviews at all. The only thing I am picky about, is the fact that they don't have bigger bottles. I would pay $25+ on a bigger bottle! Trust me, I'm nowhere near rich.

Needs improvements

If you have oily complexion or a combo on oily side this product works amazingly. But because it’s a black primer it gets into the pores and makes your skin look dirty and smudged. Someone in other review mentioned looking like you spend time in a chimney and that is correct. It could work maybe if you wear foundation, but for us who don’t need any color coverage but want to control that shine unfortunately it’s not the best choice. I wish NYX would remove the color on this product so we could use it.

New Charcoal Formula is AWFUL

The previous Shine Killer primer formula was clear and worked wonders! Kept me matte all day, while also hydrating any dry area I did have. This new formula might keep you matte for the most part, BUT if any part of your skin it DRY OR FLAKEY, the BLACK WILL CLING TO THOSE AREAS. The new formula leaves a slight shadow hue on your face that CAN BE SEEN UNDER MAKEUP. You’ll notice it most around the upper lip and chin where shadows are common in different lighting. I JUST WANT THE CLEAR SHINE KILLER PRIMER BACK.

Works well if use use the pore filler first

Glad this video finally came out, but I figured this out on my own. If you don't use the pore filler first, your pores will become black while becomes difficult to conceal. However, I soooo with the clear formula was still available. I like it as a top coat. Stays matte, hides fine lines and imperfections. Just perfect. If you won't make it anymore, could you at least provide the formula? I'd seriously make the clear version myself as a home project, while still using the black shine killer. Please consider this.
