NYX Professional Makeup Plump Right Back Plumping Serum + Primer 30 ml

NYX always has such wonderful products and their Plump Right Back plumping serum and primer is no different. One thing that was quite shocking was the price because the drug store price point seems to be getting higher and higher and they are going right along with that inflation. I paid $17.99 for mine. I should mention though that they do sell a smaller size than the full size original at a cheaper price. It is easy to find at any walmart, Ulta, or drug stores where NYX is sold. The primer / serum itself has a very watery consistency. It sinks nicely into the skin and lays well under makeup. It does not pill or mess with your foundation base products. Although I did not see it help in the performance of my makeup and longevity of it, I found it to still be a nice product for hydration under your makeup application.

A clean beauty win!

First off, this is such a unique serum/primer.It contains electrolytes, vitamins & doesn't have any unnecessary ingredients.It has a gel like consistency. Although it suggests using a dime sized amount, due to it's consistency you definitely need to use more than that.Upon the first application, I loved it! It made my skin look like it was glowing. It felt very moisturizing & nourishing. It also absorbs quickly.It has a slight stickiness to it that helps your makeup stay put.I love light & natural makeup, it's a perfect primer for that. Instead of using concealer/foundation I use tinted loose powder & the primer made it stick like crazy! I don’t know why this primer does not get the same hype as the elf grip one. I have both and I always use this more. This one has very similar vibe only this feels lighter under makeup which is a win win. You have to wait for a minute or two max for it to dry and get sticky so the makeup adheres to it. Apart from that I see why these sticky gel primers are a thing these days. They don’t let your makeup cling to any dry patches if you have dry skin without having oil and if you’re oily skin you don’t need to worry about makeup not staying in place. Plus for some reason I need lesser foundation when I use this primer. Also I am extremely acne prone and this didn’t break me out. I have used this primer every single day since I got it and I’m obsessed. I use just a tiny amount of a fresh face and watch it absorb quickly. It instantly makes my face feel soft and smooth. It’s very hydrating but doesn’t live my skin feeling oily and it doesn’t make me oily through out the day. It did help keep my foundation set in place. I also found it super nice for my under eyes. The primer is translucent and I didn’t notice any scent. Once applied the primer absorbs quite quickly and really well into my skin leaving instantly hydrated.I have tried the primer with and without make up as recommended and liked it both ways. It's ok....not great for oily skin

I'm reviewing this primer as someone with very oily skin. I'm on the fence about this product because it's not bad, but it's not ideal for oily skin and for me personally I don't think it's worth the money.However, normal skin types will probably like this product and I could imagine people with dry skin loving it, as it's very hydrating, it felt like I was applying skincare to my face.Pros:The packaging is great, love an air less pump as you can use all the product without pulling it apart.I liked the gel texture and consistency.It felt refreshing and cooling on the skin and had a fresh scent.Makeup applied beautifully over it and despite my oils coming through after an hour, my makeup didn't break up. Even on days when I didn't want to wear makeup over this primer, I had to powder it down to remove the tackyness and stop it feeling heavy on my skin.I could feel it on my face when I wasn't wearing makeup over the top.I didn't see or feel any plumping affect and no way would this survive any kind of actual exercise. My skin became oily just after moving light racks around at work on a cold day.By then end of the day I just wanted to wash my face as this primer felt so heavy and my skin felt really oily and icky.

I was sent the Nyx Plump Right Back in the Beauty Crew April VIP Box. It comes in a clear plastic 30ml bottle with a yellow pump dispenser and the product itself is a clear, thick, pleasant smelling liquid.I'm a bit confused by this product and there is no advice on the bottle when it's best applied. I suppose if you are using it as a serum, then the best time to apply would be before moisturiser but if you are using as a primer it would be best after moisturiser but before foundation. Unfortunately, I don't believe that the primer has made my makeup last longer. I can only see the teeniest, tiniest improvement in pore visibility compared to the side of my face that had no primer. It does feel nice on, although I'm sure I feel a slight tingle after application. Perhaps this is the plumping part of the primer similar to how a lip plumper works by using an "irritating" agent. I'm guessing the guilty ingredient is Limonene which can be found in many plants, e.g. rosemary, eucalyptus, lavender, lemongrass, peppermint. It played well with my other products, no pilling etc but the results are not worth extra time or money in my makeup routine. I will admit that I'm not a big believer in primer and have yet to find one that really lives up to its claims.I will probably continue to use this as part of my skincare routine but I don't plan on purchasing.
