NYX The Marshmellow Mini Primer 8ml

TIK TOK made my buy it! First off, this primer smells amazing!! super sweet and gives a cute pink tint color! So many people were hyping it and it sold out all online in Ulta in stores so i got the mini sized instead! I have a love/hate with the primer because yes it works decently.. it just didn’t fully meet my expectation because of all its claims. It’s supposed to soften, smoothed, hydrate, extends makeup wear for 16 hr, even tones, keeps makeup fresh, blurs lines, minimize texture, smoothes, and adds a soft focus. Majority of that is true like it does smoothes, sort of blurs, minimize textures and smoothes out the skin.. but that’s about it. I really wanted to like this primer, everyone was hyping this product up saying such good reviews about it and the product ended up being not for me. Don’t get me wrong the smell of the product is one of the best smelling primers I’ve ever smelled. However, it made my skin feel candy, tacky, sticky and oily all at the same time. When I applied my makeup I felt like I was wearing too much layers of makeup on my skin which was a huge no for me. My makeup looked creased. Altogether the product just isn’t for me.

I saw absolutely no difference when I used this primer. I have dry mature skin and this product did nothing noticeable. I found it to be a little bit on the sticky side and my foundation was not smooth at all. There is no reason for me to even use it as the results were as if I didn't use any primer. As I mentioned my skin is extremely dry and usually absorbs everything, except for this product. It stayed on the surface of my skin. I had high hopes for this product The packaging was very nice, The price is very reasonable, and the thought of a marshmallow ingredient intrigued me but unfortunately it's not good for me!

It applies very nicely, giving your face a silky feel to it. Now onto the performance,… I’m not entirely sure why this primer was so inconsistent for me. I used this under both powder and liquid foundation at various times, and it performed much better under liquid than powder,… But it still wasn’t my favorite. This primer made my face so ridiculously oily every single time I wore it (it was much worse under the powder foundation, it made my makeup look super cakey and awful). After finishing applying all of my products, my face would look good with a slightly dewy finish for maybe 3 hours, and then dissolve into a greasy looking mess. I felt that this primer did in fact smooth, soften, hydrate, soothe, add a soft focus finish,… But it didn’t even my tone, extend makeup wear for 16 hours, minimize texture, blur lines, or keep my makeup fresh. 5 out of 10 ain’t bad I guess? I give it 3 stars.

I received this as a sample once and LET ME TELL YOU- it’s amazing! Not only does it smell delicious, but it has that perfect priming base for a full face of makeup. It has that bouncy/stick finish that doesn’t make your face feel sticky in a bad way. I notice my foundation clings to it well and has lasted me all day. Will definitely buy again and definitely recommend!

The Nyx marshmallow primer is definitely not for me. I don’t know quite why this primer does this, but it seems to emphasize all of the peach fuzz on my face big time. My make up looks absolutely horrible when I use this product, and I’ve never had this problem with any other primer. It does seem to keep my makeup on really well though so if you are somebody who doesn’t have any peach fuzz, maybe this product would be great for you. 

Avoid this primer

Can’t use near eyes (or even risk accidentally blending it near eyes) because it is painful, like when sunscreen gets into your eyes, and also makes you tear up relentlessly. On other parts of my face, it was just a bad primer. It feels tacky in the bad way and makeup doesn’t blend at all, instead clinging to itself in tiny clumps—and I wear hardly any face makeup/foundation. I am graced with great skin but this stuff not only doesn’t work but made me break out like never before (I’m 31…). When I used it to cover up the zits it gave me (prior to realizing the culprit), it made my blemishes look worse/WAY more noticeable than without any product at all. I usually really like NYX products, but this one is a HUGE miss.

Excellent Primer

I really like this primer. It's not greasy and leaves a natural finish that is not overly matte or too dewy. It does have a mild scent, but it doesn't linger and isn't offensive at all as others here have claimed. It definitely has a subtle smoothing and evening effect, and does extend the wear time of my makeup. I started with a mini to give it a chance, and I've since repurchased a couple of full sizes. It does not pill up as others have stated - I've used this in conjunction with several other moisturizers and many brands of makeup without any issue. It doesn't take much, so the pilling others have experienced probably has to do with over-application or interaction with other products they're using.As long as NYX makes this primer, I'll be using it!

My Sensitive Skin Approves

My combination skin is super sensitive, and due to that I usually to try avoid products with fragrance. However, this primer interacted with my skin really well, and there wasn’t any sliding, redness, or flaking even though I tend to get oily in my t-zone but dry elsewhere. It didn’t fully erase the appearance of my pores, but definitely blurred them and created a smooth canvas for my makeup. The sugary sweet vanilla scent lingers, so as long as that’s what you’re going for, I would recommend this primer as a good budget option.

Really bad!

I tested this primer out on my YouTube channel (search ‘Chloe Luckin’) as it had been hyped up a lot on TikTok and YouTube.It promises that it is a 10 in 1 primer, including evening skin tone, smoothing and soothing. The fragrance is really nice but very strong - it smells exactly like flumps so I didn’t mind that at all. I did have an incline that because of how heavily fragranced it is that it would irritate my sensitive skin.I tried this out with a trusty foundation I’ve been wearing for years (EL Double Wear) and it was SO BAD! It didn’t make my foundation go on smoothly, it didn’t even out my skin tone, it didn’t fill in my pores. My foundation went on so cakey and was breaking apart on my cheeks an d forehead! I’m going to stick to my wet n wild primer water and my porefessional matte rescue from now on because at least I know these don’t break me out or make me more oily!I don’t recommend this for anyone with sensitive acne prone skin and I’m going to send it back! So glad that I didn’t purchase the full size and only bought the 8ml!
