I know there are a lot of fans of this very popular Olaplex brand and it has a cult following for people that want healthy, beautiful hair! This is the first time I’ve tried anything from this brand and it definitely won’t be my last! I’m using the No. 9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum which can be used two different ways. One being on towel-dried, damp hair from ENDS to ROOTS and the other in between washes on dampened hair. You can either blow dry or air dry. This provides heat protection from hot tools up to 450 degrees, adds shine/luster, and protects hair from damage from split ends, breakage or other stressors like pollution, sun, etc. This clear serum is very light, silky and makes my hair smooth, frizz-free and very shiny. A 3 oz. bottle is $30.00 but should last a long time depending on the length of your hair and how often you use it but a little does go a long way. There are clinical results about this product which to me is extremely important with any product I’m deciding on. It also has close to a 5 star rating on most websites! I really like this olaplex product! It’s a watery gel-like consistency that is easy to distribute throughout the hair. I squeeze a small sized amount onto my hands, rub my hands until it’s evenly coated, and then run my fingers gently through damp hair. I love how soft my hair feels when I leave it to air dry. I also use it before and after I blowdry my hair to keep my ends hydrated silky soft. I also like the signature Olaplex scent that it has. It’s really subtle light, and doesn’t last long so it won’t conflict with the fragrance of any products you choose to layer on top. Even though the product says that it is a heat protectant, I still use heat spray on top before styling just to provide additional protection since I mainly treat this product as a moisturizing ... MoreI really like this olaplex product! I have textured, difficult, wildly frizzy 2b/3a curls/waves. They are not uniform so my hair sticks out in all directions and looks REALLY dry. Half my hair still has bleach damage from when I was platinum blonde. Basically, any hair product really has its work cut out for it! I found this serum to be VERY calming and nourishing, and it made my hair feel silky and soft, which is NOT easy to do. I have medium thickness, medium density hair that's an inch or two past my shoulders, and a full pump was too much - I ended up having to re-wash my hair. You really only need a little, applied to the bottom half of your hair. For me, half a pump distributed between both hands and applied with the praying-hands method was perfect. For this reason I wonder if it might be too much for people who have fine, healthy hair that's straight or only slightly wavy. I definitely feel that this product is, for those with wild hair, the equivalent of bringing out the big guns!

My hair stylist used this during my last appointment (cut and gloss) and I'm amazed how great my hair looked for days after without smelling like some company's signature scent (i'm looking at you Davines and Kevin Murphy, euh!). Smoothing while still holding a wave... amazing. Having said that, in the past I've purchased from the salon and found I couldn't replicate the effects because I simply don't have the styling skills to pull it off. I was hesitant to buy this but figured getting in on Sephora was a safer bet (plus points) soooo... I did and I used it this morning and I love it!! I think that if I had added a little more and was more careful to dry my hair in sections that I would have had an even more sleek finish. Anyway. I love it! I'm glad I bought this and it will definitely be part of regular rotation!

This may work for you if you find serums are normally too dense for you and you need a lot of product on your hair or your hair is really long and there is a lot of it to cover. Because in every experience I've always found I pump just once and I have so much product left on my hands I'm forced to wash it down the sink because it is not the sort of pot you can place the excess back into. This is really frustrating for me- you only get 90mls of product in a tube. Even the No.3 and 8 have 100mls! I think that if you're going to have such a low volume for the price the least you could do Olaplex is to have a pump which doesn't appear to deposit nearly 10 times the amount I need! (My hair is shorter and though thick, it is fine). Did I see a difference? Maybe you're meant to mix it with no.6 or something (also a leave-in) but if that is the case it's not mentioned in the directions. I can think of other products I have had better results with. It didn't wreck my hair at all, it didn't weigh my hair down, it gave minimal frizz control and it was easy to apply (ignoring the excess volume!) it is extremely fluid/runny and that I wasn't expecting. I've now trained myself in the art of the half-pump so maybe I wont waste as much the creators could do would be to make it easy to use!

SUPERB RESULTS

My stylist recently recommended I try the Olaplex Shampoo, Conditioner, and Serum because my usually strong hair started to react negatively to the highlighting and color treatments that we do. My hair is strong and has held up well. But when it suddenly started to rebel, I didn't like how frizzed out my hair looked, even after my stylist had treated and applied a deep conditioner. My stylist said: "You need to use a better set of products between hair appointments".My stylist has never tried to "sell me" on certain products. My stylist said: "You need to use a better set of products between hair appointments".My stylist has never tried to "sell me" on certain products. But when my hair needed to be repaired, he recommended Olaplex. He said that Olaplex had consistently impressed him over the years. He told me a bit about the history of the product line, who created it, who used it, etc. I was intrigued. I live in NYC so a good haircut and coloring job is expensive. I figured that since I'm already paying a pretty penny for the right stylist, why not invest a bit in a solid product line to treat my damaged hair. My stylist liked other products in the Olaplex line, but since I was looking to keep costs down, I went with the basics and tried Olaplex shampoo, conditioner, and serum on his recommendation.WOW! My hair had looked damaged - broken and fried. It also needed moisture. In just one use, I noticed a very significant improvement. After just two uses, my hair looked healed! It was like new. Also, I'm usually pretty adept at styling my hair. But in the last few years, because I have a lot of thick hair, I had trouble getting my short, stacked, bob to look totally smooth with my blow drying. The cut and color were amazing. But I could never get the blow out really smooth on my own. My arm would get tired while blow-drying. I also don't have a super-powerful blow drier either. I tried all sorts of smoothing products, including Aragon oil. But my hair always looked a bit frizzed. Not when my stylist dried it. Only when I did. Then, I tried Olaplex. I couldn't believe the results from the serum. I'm sure it was the combo of all three products that helped. But the serum is amazing. I was finally able to get a smooth blow out. It's not as good as my stylist's, but it's significantly better than it was. My stylist noticed it immediately.Thank you, Olaplex, for developing such a great line. I've already recommended you to others. Keep up the solid, consistent effort! Don't change a thing....From,A "Happy" New Yorker

A little backstory on my hair journey; I had never really used heat tools other than a hairdryer on my hair before this past year, which is when I finally found a curling iron that would actually work for my hair (I have very fine very straight hair) so of course I was super excited. I curled my hair almost every day for 5+ months without using any type of heat protectant because I didn't think I needed it. By the time graduation came around I was spraying shine spray in my hair almost every day to keep all the "frizz" down. It wasn't until after graduation when I wasn't doing much to my hair that I actually realized how damaged it really was. It wasn't until after graduation when I wasn't doing much to my hair that I actually realized how damaged it really was. I had a ton of super short hairs sticking up from most of my hair from all the heat damage which I had thought was just "frizz" but it was actually my hair breaking. I was frantically searching all over google for the best heat damage repair products and ended up finding this. I was a little skeptical at first, but I got it anyway, hoping that it would at least help smooth everything down. The results were amazing. This product not only helped protect my hair for when I do use heat on it, but it also helped with my breakage and dry, damaged hair. I can just leave it down now and don't have to put it in a clip or a bun to make myself feel comfortable with my hair. If you're looking for something to help with your damaged hair, or you just need something for dry or brittle hair, I highly recommend this.

8 November 2022

I wanted to love this product, I ended up purchasing almost the entire Olaplex hairline in an effort to transform my hair. I have fine, wavy, color-treated blonde hair. I have had great luck with the Kerastase hair oils and thought this product would be awesome, but I ended up throwing it out. I tried using this product on wet, damp and dry hair. I tried using this product before blow-drying and letting my hair airdry. No matter what, this seemed to make my hair feel crunchy, like I was using a mousse on it. It also made my hair feel like it had a sticky/greasy film on it. The few times I used this product, I wanted to wash my hair immediately afterwards. The product has such great reviews on Sephora, that I did try to use it several times in several different ways ... MoreI wanted to love this product, I ended up purchasing almost the entire Olaplex hairline in an effort to transform my hair. I rarely throw out hair products; even if something doesn't change my hair, I'll use it until it runs out and not purchase again. This product made my hair feel so gross that I just had to give up on it.

With just the right amount = effortless perfect hair
14 February 2023

I just bought my second bottle even if my first one hasn't run out yet, because I've decided I cannot be without this product for the rest of my life. I have hair that is wavy/curly and very prone to frizz, plus I live in a very humid country. I have been loosely following the Curly Girl Method, and this product's ingredients seem CGM-friendly. My hair is healthier, smoother, tangle-free, with no product build-up. It took some trial and error to figure out the right amount to use on my hair, and just the right amount of zhuzhing it through my hair with my palms and fingers (never comb it through, as I've learned that will make it crunchy). Once I got that down, my hair became truly wash-and-wear. I never blow dry or use styling tools. Just my hands and this product, ... MoreI just bought my second bottle even if my first one hasn't run out yet, because I've decided I cannot be without this product for the rest of my life. I never want to be without this, Sephora please always keep this in stock!
