Best vanilla protein I've had, vanilla is a hard one to get right. I use this to make Konjac Rice Pudding, just mix like 8 packets of Konjac rice (with almost no calories) plus some water and heaps of this vanilla protein. You'll know when it's ready when it gets really thick and goopy and almost impossible to stir, and all of the lumps have gone. BTW it doesn't form lumps in a shaker, just when I mix it this way by hand. This "rice" pudding is delicious and has helped me a lot in my weight loss goals. It's got a very nice vanilla and sweet flavour, the thick consistency is very good, and if you add lots of orange blossom water, lots of extra vanilla extract, and some rose water, as well as cinnamon, it's almost as good as real rice pudding. This is a really great tasting casein protein. I love Optimum Nutrition, it’s the main protein I buy as far as shakes go. This one doesn’t have too much of an artificial flavor, and it’s pretty filling. It mixed well and doesn’t clump most of the time. It doesn’t have a very strong peanut butter flavor, but it’s a great chocolate shake. Casein makes a thicker protein shake and they say it’s best to drink at night because it’s slower releasing than whey protein, but if you’re not a bodybuilder it really doesn’t matter when you drink it. I definitely recommend this brand for both protein and preworkout supplements. It’s super affordable on Amazon!

For too long I had relied solely on whey protein to help build muscle, especially after intense work outs. It definitely helped, but often times I would wake up the morning after not feeling that much better. In other words, I wasn't really recovering that well. I considered just doubling up on the whey, basically eating another serving before bed, but then I did some research.I figured it would benefit me to alternate the types of protein supplement, and when I added the Optimum Nutrition Casein protein, it was a game changer. I now wake up in the morning feeling back to 100%. Even though I never train the same muscle groups two days in a row, I feel as if I could. I am making a 100% recovery in less than half the time.As a side benefit, the stuff tastes ... MoreFor too long I had relied solely on whey protein to help build muscle, especially after intense work outs. I am making a 100% recovery in less than half the time.As a side benefit, the stuff tastes amazing. I mix mine with soy milk (yeah, I drink soy, get over it) and shot of light cream, after reading that a modest amount of fats help the body absorb large amounts of protein. Anyways, the vanilla is a very deep and satisfying flavor. To change it up I sometimes add some cinnamon powder, or some nutmeg and ground clove. On top of that, I eat it just before bed, and I am never super hungry in the morning, and I have eliminated my midnight snack routine.I use a hand crank egg beater to mix this stuff up, because even a little bit quickly turns into a thick mixture, sort of like wet concrete. It needs way more liquid to dissolve into than whey protein powder. Sometimes I also throw in some Greek style yogurt, but this stuff is thick enough already. The labeling says something about how Casein behaves differently when it hits the acid in the stomach, and that it expands, and you see this when you mix it up.If you have been missing something in the protein department, I would absolutely try this Casein.

This naturally flavored chocolate creme tastes very odd in my opinion.I'm used to protein casein chocolate taste but this one lacks the actual taste of chocolate. It has very subtle taste of anything.First impression when you open up the canister the smell is actually pretty good. Really remind you chocolate. So it easily passed the smell test. But the actual taste is far from the smell and very disappointing.Besides that - this casein doesn't mix well as opposed to ON usual casein (not naturally flavored).I'm pretty disappointed from this product. Had higher expectations I guess.
Optimum's chocolate casein has a delicious taste, take it from a chocoholic. Something special about the casein is it gives your shake or pudding a very thick texture. Much more than any other protein powder I've used. Best to use casein as a meal replacement or before bedtime snack.
I was looking for a nice flavor high quality casein, to fill my daily protein intake.Wanted to make a sweet pudding casein, as a replacement for some milk product (cottage cheese, yogurt). It is mixed ok (water/milk), but flavor is meh. Did not enjoy it. It is not nearly as tasty as ON whey powders. Also, the price was recently went up very sharply (twice in the last 2 months) for all ON products (why so sharp), which made it very expensive. Not worth it. Choose another brand over this.
This stuff is awesome. I've let myself go a few times before and the first few weeks back to the gym are the worse as my muscles stay terribly sore for a good while. This time I've gained 20 pounds of fat and gotten significantly lazy after the gyms closed and training equipment prices skyrocketed, as well as quiting my active food service job to start my career behind a monitor. I wanted to give myself the best chance at getting back into shape. This is the first time I purchased casein, because in the past I was always sure that I was getting enough brotien from my daily diet. But after using casein, my recovery time has drastically reduced. I don't wake up more sore than I went to bed, even during my first few weeks back at the gym. But after using casein, my recovery time has drastically reduced. I don't wake up more sore than I went to bed, even during my first few weeks back at the gym. Whey does not compete with this at night as your body digests it within 30 minutes and your muscles starve the rest of the night. This brotein has cured me of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), and I can't recommend it enough for anyone trying to get back to the gym or just starting out! I always thought slow release sleeping protein was just a marketing sham, but this has proved me wrong. This is also nice to gulp down when I know I'm going to be stuck in meetings as it's thicker and heavier than whey and keeps you full longer.(If my review has helped in anyway please be sure to click "Helpful" "Like" so more people can see it. Thank you!)
My son uses this to cook so many of his healthy foods with. He loves it only the last 8 purchases we wondered why it went from $39 to over $55 bucks plus or including tax. We are now going to stop buying from here due to the inflation and go with another product. Sad because we were an every 2 day buyer of this product.Like I said my son loves to be healthy and make healthy yet bad for you looking treats so we stick to healthy over junk. He is 17 and so into this product abd whey protien that he has taught himself so many cool ways to cook. Bake, and use this. Sad to have to go somewhere else for it.
I wanted to like this protein powder so much. I read reviews (on other sites) and everyone claimed it was the best tasting casein they'd ever had. They claimed it was easier to mix than other brands who offer casein. They claimed it was almost perfect.Nothing could be further from the truth. Granted, what you like might be extremely different from what I like, so I'll list pros and cons below and you can decide for yourself.PROS:1. The first ingredient in this powder is micellar casein, which is as it should be in ANY casein powder. Many protein powders tend to have a LOT of filler, but this brand is pretty good about giving you what you pay for.2. The container is sturdy and the scoop was easy to find. (Although, I might have gotten lucky in finding the scoop so easily.)CONS:1. The flavor is... not great. I've tried other casein powders and, by far, the best tasting one has been Six Star. (They have a lot of filler, but honestly, I'd rather have a good tasting powder that mixes well than whatever is going on with ON Gold Standard.) It's hard to even call this flavor "chocolate," but that's what they're calling it so I guess that's what it is? I couldn't taste chocolate, but maybe my taste buds are weird?2. This powder takes FOREVER to mix in a shaker. (I've read that it's better to use a blender, but seriously? I'm not trying to dirty and clean my blender every day just so this powder will mix as well as every other brand out there.) I've mixed the powder in water, almond milk and 1% milk and nothing seems to make a difference - there are ALWAYS chunks in the shaker. This may not be a big deal to some, but to me, having a chunky, chewy drink is disgusting and could actually pose a choking hazard to those who don't know about it.There's nothing more to say, really. If you don't mind a lackluster flavor and prefer to chew your protein shakes, this might be the brand for you.
I’m getting into making my own ice cream and tried with their whey protein powder with almond milk. Something just always seemed off. I decided to try it using casein because I heard casein has a thicker consistency and omg! Game changer! The mix was nice, creamy and thick! With the whey, it seemed watery and the taste was a little off. With this, I honestly could not tell that it was protein powder. I let my husband taste the ice cream and he thought I bought it! Absolutely delicious. Who knew ice cream good be so healthy and taste so good!

Sometimes slower is better - especially when it comes to the rate of protein digestion. While rapid protein absorption is desirable immediately before or after exercise, delayed release is probably more beneficial throughout the remainder of the day. Casein proteins are pH sensitive and gel in the acidic environment of the stomach. As a result, it can take more than twice as long for caseins to be broken-down into their amino acid subcomponents than whey and other proteins. Because of their unique time-released qualities, caseins are aptly described as anti-catabolic or muscle-protecting proteins. Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Casein is the World's No. 1 and the industry's first all-micellar Casein. Recommended for use in the evening, each great tasting, Gold Standard 100% Casein shake contains 24g of the purest protein, only 3g of carbohydrates, but just 0.5g of fat and no sugar. It's also instantised to mix up easily, every time.
