This mouth gel actually has enzymes in it. Some years ago, the Biotene brand version of this had enzymes in it; however, Glaxo Smith Kline bought rights to manufacture the Biotene product and removed the enzymes, there by reducing the quality of the gel. Oral 7 originated in Australia and this gel is claimed to have enzymes in it. Worked for me, plus I could use a little less of it than I needed of the Biotene. Problem is, the Oral 7 seems to currently be in short supply and lamentably, I am having difficulty locating more of it. My understanding is that a dry mouth is conducive to bacterial growth, so keeping your mouth moist is beneficial for health of the oral cavity.

Using the three products works well but I found my teeth did not feel clean enough with the toothpaste so now I use my regular toothpaste first. So nice to be able to talk for a little while at least before reaching for the gel.
