This bonito is preserved in olive oil and is popular all over Spain, especially in the Basque Country. Try making a typical tapa or 'pintxo' from Northern Spain - stuff piquillo peppers with bonito mixed with a little mayonnaise, raw white onion finely diced and a good squeeze of lemon juice. Bonito makes a great addition to salads or flaked on a piece of toast. Ortiz's bonito, also known as white tuna are individually line caught with live bait or fly during the coastal fishing season. This age-old technique of selective fishing avoids unwanted fish being discarded, respecting the environment and protecting marine reserves.

Excellent! Wasn’t sure what the difference would be between these and standard shop bought items. Let me tell you that there is a huge difference in taste and quality! Obviously there is a difference in pricing too, but, worth it for special treats

This tuna is the most flavorful, high quality tuna I've ever had. I would eat it every day if I could afford it, but I think the price is definitely worth it. It's a worthy indulgence.

This is literally the best tasting tuna-in-a-can I've ever had. Just buy one can, you owe it to yourself. Its like fancy chocolates! The fish looks like fish, not some mashed mess. The texture is buttery, light and flaky all at once. You can eat it straight from the can. The olive oil is similarly light, and it just enhances the quality of the tuna. TREAT yourself!

I must say, embarrassingly, that I do not eat sushi or fresh tuna...for a well-versed cook, It is quite amazing that I only eat canned tuna....now I have found the BEST!Ortiz solid white is delicious. The white fish is packed in Spain in tasty Spanish olive oil....a salad with celery, kalamata olives and lettuce brings you to heaven instantly. Try it. Your tuna salad days will become memorable! Say good-bye to Star-Kist and mayonnaise! ORTIZ REIGNS SUPREME!
Delicate yet abundance of flavour. Use the oil as a dressing.
Have chosen acceptable at this stage. It is not because Ortiz Tuna in Olive Oil has changed that is still top notch. However, slight changes in your delivery and increase in cost of product. Was extremely disappointed that you had/have increased single tin price by over £1+ per tin and that you did not have bulk box of30 tins. I was very concerned and debated whether or not to buy bulk of 60 tins, at individual price of £5 per tin. That was 60pence more than my local supermarket... it was only after I found a 20% off voucher and still after discussions with husband did we decide to purchase from you. This made individual tins at £4 per tin. Imagine my surprise when virtually within 48 hours you once again had bulk buy box of 30 tins on offer. With 20% voucher that would have made individual tins costs at approx £3.50 per tin.. Not happy. The other issue is that my box of 60 tins of tuna was actually left on my front door doorstep... very lucky that it was still there when I arrived home in the afternoon. The Ortiz Bonito Tuna in Olive Oil is great not problems with that at all, but will have to now reconsider future purchases....R
Such a luxurious tuna, all others fail in comparison. First taste and you realize just how good it is. I use it where the flavor is allowed to shine, Niçoise Salade or a simple pasta. Definitely a treat.
My favourite butty is tuna mayo and I purchased this tuna due to its sustainability and the reviews were good. Firstly, do what I did and put your mayo back in the fridge - the quality and taste of the tuna deserves far more than a spoonful of mayo. It might be seen as pricier than others but you get what you pay for.The tuna is light and succulent and is just the best tinned / jarred tuna I've tasted. The olive oil tastes good too, as you'd expect from Spain. As has been said previously, have this with a light bean salad for a really lovely - and healthy - lunchtime treat. I will not be buying another brand from now on.
OK I will admit it. I am the ultimate canned tuna snob. It’s embarrassing that I am so picky about tuna...I used to say that there was nothing like the white tuna from Costco.Being a long time fan of market Hall foods, I love to check in with Ashaand see what she loves... she recommended the tuna from Ortiz, and withgreat hesitation I’ve ventured out and tried just one can. I was so annoyed at myself for not ordering 12 after I tasted this tuna. I’ve never tasted anything like it ..And now I actually find myself panicking a little when I don’t have an extra can on my shelf ...I cannot recommend it enough. It is absolutely delicious. Especially if you live alone and you just want to come home and open a can of tuna and have some crackers with it. I leave you ... MoreOK I will admit it. Do not order just one can and remember that I told you so.
This is not your typical American canned tune. This tuna is usually one solid piece with a little flake to fill the can. It is packed in a good Olive oil (I save the oil and use in salad dressings). We typically eat it out of the can sprinkled with a little sea salt and some good crusty bread. You can also use it to make some really amazing Tannato Sauce.
