I really actually liked this backpack because I love my other osprey porter 40, so really osprey has been a favorite brand for me. This one is supposedly water resistant which is a big bonus for me, but I didn't test it out, so I can't speak on this. I seemingly am often caught in the rain so bonus for waterproof and water resistant products. So what else I liked about this backpack: the pockets on the backpack. This bag got many good reviews so I tried it out at home and ultimately, it wasn't going to work for what I wanted it for. Maybe you'll appreciate it more than I. The price was also reasonable compared to some of the other bags I looked at as well.

The vented back is really great for when I get hot cycling around the city - it keeps me noticeably much cooler than my last backpack which didn't have proper venting on the back. It's water resistant which means I can use it most days, apart from if it's a serious downpour in which case I'd use one of my fully waterproof bags. This is a great back pack for all around stuff. It isn't the biggest but it's great for a day trip, add on with other luggage or an overnight pack. It has held up well so far throughout a years worth of use. The zippers slide around easily and nothing hasn't gotten snagged yet. I've used it for an overnight bag (could use it for two but that would be stretching it), travel bag for my iPad and other small things as well. It doesn't fit my laptop (13" MacBook pro) with it's case (overkill yes, but I'd rather be safe than sorry) so you'd just have to put the laptop straight in. It's also great as a hiking back as well if you need to stuff some rain jackets, water bottles, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc. I will say it is a tad on the small side for me, I'm 6'3" and 250 lbs ... This was purchased for a trip to Ireland, and since I didn’t want to check a bag I could only take a carryon suitcase and personal item. This was the personal item. Previous to this bag I have used the slightly smaller Osprey Daylight Pack, but I found it to be just a little too small. This pack was perfect for travel - it had enough room to carry an iPad, a couple books, water, jacket, wallet, phone, travel documents and small personal items. The outside front pouch/pocket was good for stashing non valuables like tissues or eyeglass wipes, and the side bottle pockets could actually hold a water bottle, unlike its smaller sister bag. My only criticism is I wish it had an outside water bladder pocket like the smaller bag - I would use this space to pack an extra ... The HUGE downside that I underestimated is that this pack will NOT stand upright when you set it down to pack or unpack, it rolls forward almost as if possessed. It's as if the pack has a will of it's own and refuses to stand upright, it actually pulls out of your hands to loll lazily forward onto it's soft underbelly regardless of how you may plead with it to just stay upright.So, before you buy, pay attention to how you use your backpacks, do you expect them to stay upright when you set them down next to a chair or when you attempt to lean them against your shins and pull out your laptop? I got it for the main intent of the extension to the Osprey luggage series these are compatible with for travel, which it does, but here are the major flaws:-When attached to the luggage it makes it front heavy and falls over subsequently making it hard to use the luggage whether wheeled or on back altogether-Yes I understand this is supposed to be lightweight day use backpack but it's annoying that it doesn't stand up right when you're packing it, if you have a filled water bottle in it it flops over on one side or slides out because the backpack has no frame to it to hold it up in the first place. Sure this bag could be flattened down and put in a larger piece of luggage but my stuff-sack style Cotopaxi 20L bag would stuff ... MoreThis one isn't working out for me. They are so minimalist that they dig into your shoulder and lack of frame just weighs down on your pack-I find the cross straps also annoying, they feel in the way when you're trying to pack things and hurry quickly and I largely use them to secure the water bottle since it falls out due to the instability of this pack but its very annoying to need to clip each time when you're just trying to access the main compartment for your jacket when the stash pocket on front doesn't fit a jacket in the first place-The front stash pocket on the plus version of this is useless ,it doesn't fit a stuffed puffy jacket nicely - would rather have the compression cords. I would say it fits a few small items loosely and they fall out easily, even when you tighten the side straps because it has a wide open mouth to the pocket.- I miss having waist straps with pockets like a lot of the other daypacks osprey has does, as these are great for stashing credit cards + chapstick-The mesh side pockets once the pack is filled again are too compressed so it makes it hard to easily stash in and out a full liter waterbottle-The top pocket with the 2 internal pockets + keyholder is useless. The two internal pockets barely fit a small kindle. I would say they only truly fit a phone, a pair of sunglasses and chapstick and sunscreen. And, because of the lightweight frame design all these things flop out the minute you open the top bag-Laptop compartment is pretty standard and is probably the only thing I'm ok with on this bag-Overall I have more back pain from using this bag (loaded I should clarify though) from the last 3 days than using all my other osprey bags for years-will probably be returning and getting the Talon instead, it's not compatible with the luggage but for the (sale price) it's a much better value than this $70 bag and should be less painful on back and shoulders to use
Was looking for a travel day pack which was large enough to be useful for week long trips but small enough for under seat plane travel and day trips. Liking it so far.Pros: nice slim profile but large enough to be useful. I really like the organization: main compartment includes iPad sleeve; smaller compartment for sunglasses, wipes, sunscreen etc. Third small pocket for wallet & phone. Wasn't sure about the front pouch compartment as it isn't secure, but seems to work well for small non valuables like snacks.Cons: won't sit upright! Bottom is sloped, so pack falls over onto the front side. Slightly irritating now, will see how it goes. Also ZERO latch points.

We were under the impression that the Daylite Plus bag would easily attach to the travel packs since we were backpacking across Europe and could have really benefitted from carrying both together. While we were eventually able to attach them (such that the smaller pack "kangaroos" on the front of a person while they are holding the larger pack on their back), this was not an easy process. It took probably 10 minutes to actually secure the smaller bag to the larger one; it's not simply a "clip-on" situation like we were expecting. Additionally, the pack just FEELS so much smaller than 20 liters. It could be that the purpose we intended for the bag ... One thing I struggle with is the fact that I am constantly loosening and tightening the compression straps (for the stuff pocket) in order to access the main compartment. If the compression straps are tightened, it is tough to get anything relatively bulky out of the bottom of the main compartment.Pros (to be fair lol): extremely lightweight, fairly comfortable when not overfilled, breathable on the back, shoulder straps reasonably comfortable for being so thin

In fact, I’m a 65 years old RN and I don’t remember ever formally hiking. I took my Girl Scout troop camping when my girls were young and likely did mini-hikes. Initially, I purchased the Peyton Green/Tunnel Vison color on sale, but I really disliked the trim color. The bag was a pretty teal and the trim color reminded me of the color of vomit. I returned it and paid full price for the Wave blue color because I really liked the bag. I had done research looking at ratings from real hikers and the ratings were good. The bag is light weight and comfortable on. It has plenty of room to carry layers and the rain gear that is recommended ... I was very happy to find that my Dell Inspiron 16 (14x9.75inches) fits in the back sleeve and I will have a safe place to carry it on the plane. I can’t speak for true hikers, but there are plenty of tourist that need a nice, quality bag for their vacations and I believe this bag will meet their needs.
Terrific little daypack. I purchased this to basically replace the 15L daypack portion of the Osprey Farpoint 55 (which is a 40L + 15L combination pack that hooks together). The Daylight is only marginally larger in liter size at 5L, but is 33% larger than the Farpoint 15L pack. What this mainly produces is a wider mouth and much less narrow daypack feel. I find that the 15L pack doesn't feel like it can "swallow" items all that conveniently and having a little extra girth goes a long way...An additional note or two. The Farpoint and Fairview systems are the same just men/women's shoulder size, and both can be purchased either as the 55L "combo" product or the two packs separately as a 40L and 15L pack. Firstly the Daylite is a more useful daypack as it has better pocket structure, is slightly larger and has a more comfortable build quality (the back ventilation specifically is much better if you're someone who sweats, but also the materials feel easier for extended carrying). Secondly the Farpoint/Fairview 40L pack are NOT the same if purchased individually or as a part of the 55L system. The 40L packs sold individually are better as they contain also a laptop sleeve as well as a dump pocket.The Daylite and Farivew/Farpoint fit together decently well. The top loops are easy and I recommend connecting the bottom to the loops with carabiners instead of the cumbersome default buckle system.I wish I'd known about this dynamic prior to buying my Farpoint 55 system...My only criticisms of the Daylite Plus are mainly that I would prefer zippers that take a luggage lock (the 15L Farpoint/Fairview bag does), but this is not a travel pack, so it does make sense that it wouldn't. And also the Farpoint/Fairview 15L pack contains buckles that clip into the 40L pack shoulderstraps so that it can be "front worn", and the Daylight does not have this - it seems to me that Osprey should just make all of their packs cross-compatible, feature-wise.All and all it's a great daypack though, and I do recommend it over most of the other options - especially if combining with a larger Osprey pack and you want to hook them together for traveling - this is the biggest reason to choose this pack over others IMO.
