I purchased this from countryside.co.uk. I would usually sear by Osprey products but not this one. Lightweight with excellent frame and wheels but let down by poor quality of zippers (difficult to use them), lack of mechanism to lock the zippers and little inner space (doesn’t seem to be 38L, though significant space may taken up by the casing of telescopic handle and top handle mechanism). First Osprey I have ever returned.

I bought 2 of these suitcases for a 17 day trip to Ireland and England with my spouse. They are amazingly lightweight. With soft sides, you are able to pack in a lot of items. There is a big front pocket that held rain gear, a packable down jacket plus a fleece or 2. The wheels work incredibly well on hard surfaces and the bag is very balanced and stable when standing upright. My only negatives are the handle and the zipper. I have the 21 inch carry on version and have the same issue. If you lean your hand on the handle, it collapses. Unfortunately, that is a bad habit for me. I returned this because the build quality seemed very poor. I have an Osprey carry-on bag that I really like, so I thought that this one would be similarly well-designed. Not so. The handle seemed like it will break off, and it's impossible to roll it in a straight line. The companion bag doesn't secure adequately to the luggage. Extremely frustrating to use!

Avoid. Horrible design. I have many items from Osprey and love the brand, but this isn't one of them. Purchased for international carryon. The single shaft handle wobbles like crazy. If you load a back pack with a luggage sleeve on top, the bag and handle are not strong enough to handle the weight and just collapse. I ended up buying another bag while traveling, and will take this one back to return.
I am a huge fan of Osprey gear, but this will be returned. The bag is well made but the handle is way too short. I am average height (5'11"). If I walk at my normal brisk pace, my heels hit the bag, which required me to hold it awkwardly farther out to the side. See the attached picture. The handle is 8" shorter than the bag I'm replacing. Some luggage manufacturers have handles with adjustable length. This is a major flaw that Osprey will need to address.

None of them feel 100% perfect, I wish I could combine aspects of each! I haven't used any of these on a trip yet, so I can't speak to how they will hold up. I currently have the larger size of Sojourn for a checked bag, I've had it since 2015 and have loved it. It has held up well which is why I wanted an Osprey carry-on. I'm bummed that REI doesn't stock all of these right now because I like the reassurance of their return policy where I can test it out and still return if it doesn't work for me. I also like the light colored lining, makes it easier to see items. Good side handle.Ozone Cons: The wheels are much smaller than the other two, I worry about them holding up. The zipper is also much smaller, I am hard on zippers as I have a habit of over stuffing my bags, so I worry this zipper won't hold up. It is also hard to zip and unzip, I have to get it at just the right angle and zip in little bits to get it to go all the way, very stiff. The top handle isn't really a handle, it is part of the frame, which you could wedge your fingers through when empty, but I doubt you could when full. So you are trying to grip with your finger tips or you have to use the side handle. Another issue is the front pocket has a narrow opening. It is a huge pocket that runs the length of the bag, with a laptop pocket and a few smaller pockets, but you just need to reach your hand in blindly to pull out, you can't get a good look in it with such a narrow opening. I anticipate this being a huge pain. I also am not a fan of how you pull out the handle to wheel, it feels less like a button and more of a grip thing, it is awkward to press. I think this might get easier with time, but just feels unnecessarily difficult.Transporter Pros: I like the combo of the harder shell and softer top. It is the next lightest weight at 6.59lbs. One interior pocket. The front pocket had a wider opening that makes it easy to see and access the laptop and additional pockets. The wheels are bigger and seem hardy. Easy push button handle for wheeling. It has an expansion area which is nice.Transporter Cons: The top handle is a stiff hard material that rests close the the bag and is difficult to get a grip on without hurting your knuckles. Side handle isn't super substantial, but okay, I worry if it will hold up. There are no internal straps, there is another zippered netted covering. I've not had this before and I'm not sure why it is designed this way or how I feel about it. The opening is narrower on this one, but not horrible.Sojourn 45 Pros: I'm a little bias because this one was so familiar. This one has by far the best handles. Large and padded, easy to get a quick grip on them. Nice big wheels. Has a wide opening to make it easy to pack, with two long pockets along the side. I like to keep papers in these along with firm items to give it structure. There are also two more interior pockets in the netted area. There are two compression straps to hold items down inside. This is the only one I ordered with backpack straps. I'm not sure how much I would use these, it is nice when going over cobblestones. Most of the time I think I would remove them to make it lighter weight and then use that space as an extra pocket. This one feels the most durable.Sojourn 45 Cons: Heaviest at 8lbs. They changed the lining color from mine to a bright lime green. I really can't stand this, nor do I understand the need, a light neutral interior color is the best. This one doesn't have the front pocket with laptop sleeve, it has compression straps instead. The biggest con is that it only has two wheels. I really like a spinner for a carry-on, it makes it so much easier to wheel down the center aisle.Conclusion: The perfect bag would have the wheels and sleek design of the transporter, the handles, interior pockets, and good compression design of the sojourn, lining color and wide main pocket opening of the ozone.

I would never trust this bag as a checked bag with anything delicate, nor would I want to leave a laptop in here when stowing this luggage in the overhead. Inside it has two mesh pockets across from the suit curtains. It looked really good. The zippers and the stitching is even better than normal for osprey. It seems like there were some really innovative things going on in the design of this luggage, but that’s also the problem. It seems like whoever designed this hadn’t ever actually used rolling luggage before. The internal design is fantastic, it wasn’t until I extended the handle and began to roll it around that I discovered myriad of issues going on with this suitcase.First of all, there is nowhere to grab, besides the extending handle, which we will get to. The handle is integrated into the sort of external frame and is curved inwards, making it almost impossible to grab hold of on account of its proximity to the bag itself. There is a handle on the side which is accessible, but nothing on the top. The handle on the side has an ID slot underneath it. The top handle extends by squeezing it. Not a great start as it feels brittle, even if it is not - idk. Almighty guarantee makes me less worried, but being stuck in an airport with this sounds awful (no top handle remember).The wheels don’t feel smooth. I am used to samsonite, which apparently feels a lot smoother. They tend to want to stick in place and this does not seem to turn on a dime at all.The zippers do seem like they would keep water out. They also seem pretty good at keeping me out too though, as they are very difficult to open. Why you need to keep that much water out of a soft shell bag…idk, maybe there’s a market for this but I can’t think of who that is.The worst part of this whole thing though, is something I’ve never encountered before. Someone at osprey thought it was a good idea to tilt the bag ever so slightly, towards the user. IE - towards the cloths and the laptop bag atop this one. As such, this bag has four wheels, but it only wants to use two of them. This causes the bag to fly out randomly, where any other rolling luggage would just go where you pushed it, this one wants to fall over. My sampsonite luggage I could push with one finger across airport floors, or my living room floor all the same. This one, I can get it three feet before it tries to tip itself over. The extending handle being a single pillar, instead of two like every other company LENDS itself to the instability even further. Then, when you put the laptop bag on top, it wants to flip all over the place because there is only one pillar (not two) to hold it in place. It seems like osprey installed a cord with clasp for this, but it requires that the front pocket be left opened IE the phone/sunglasses/wallet pocket.Overall:Cons:Tbag is just such a poorly designed nightmare. It falls over, it’s difficult to open, it provides no impact protection, wheels that are not smooth, a frame that is half internal/half external, poor overall design from a real-world functionality standpoint, absolutely unusable in real world travel, no locking mechanism, no dedicated/stand alone top handle, poor design implemented poorly, all sparkle / no substance. 💩Pros:Lightweight, good internal design, well manufactured, seemingly waterproof zippers, almighty guarantee.I would not recommend that you buy this luggage, not at any price. In fact if you’re given this for free I suggest you open the plastic bag that this comes in very carefully…and just use that instead. 0/10, it literally falls flat on its face.
Yes, Zipper is stiff but holds up fine with careful use. Light weight is fabulous for lifting into overhead racks. Simple, well-thought-out design.
Wait for the next generation of this luggage, as this one has too many problems. The best thing about it is the weight. The outer pockets are not usable, they are difficult to access when the suitcase is empty, and impossible when the suitcase is full. The zipper is waterproof and so tight that it's a royal pain to zip. The extension handle is just wiggly enough that when you use all four wheels it veers off this way and that, it doesn't track smoothly. One small item is that it doesn't have handles in the typical places, so it was annoying to the taxi driver in Paris who had to lift it out of the trunk.
