Light and the right design for me with side pockets for waterbottles (carries a litre bottle easily), top load, pockets on hips and stuff pocket for rain coat. Very adjustable to find the right fit and the spine insert is secured with velcro and can be moved up and down (something not really made clear to the user). The back system is very advanced and comfortable although not convinced it's any better at keeping the back cool than designs which separate the pack from the pack.Flaws - the bike helmet fitting will only hold helmets with large airvents using a plastic shape that you feed through the vents. The side pockets although useful do stick out when in use and you may find your arms brush against them as you walk. The small pockets on the shoulder straps are great for keys but they fasten with poppers which do not stay shut - any light pressure on them at all, ie just using the rucksack normally, will easily pop them open, which is annoying. A zip for the main compartment is a simpler approach than traditional draw string and strapped lid, but I do worry that if and when the zip fails that's the end of the bag. The pouch on top for wallet and phone etc is a little too small - on a previous bag the top pocket was a lot bigger and now I struggle to fit the essentials I'm used to putting there. Doesn't come with a rain cover and the zips do not feed into zip covers, although the material seems highly waterproof.Ultimately given the flaws a little expensive, I'd expect perfection and more innovation for the price. Doesn't feel like it's been roadtested given the popping shoulder pouches and the hip pouches which stick out too far. I got it on a 10% discount, so that helped a little but still overpriced then. Can't really recommend over cheaper bags with better features.

I love outdoor gear so spent way too much time researching day packs before settling on this one, hardest part was deciding whether to go with the 20 or 30 litre version as the 30 looked too big but the 20 sounded too small. I ended up going with the 20 which feels like it has a generous amount of room for 20 litres. The big thing that sold me on this was the adjustability, not only do you have the choice of two sizes but you can also adjust the back length further with the Velcro adjuster, so dialling in comfort is super easy. It also has a super easy opening and a reasonable number of internal pockets for organization. Love this little pack and I think it will easily live up to the osprey reputation

I don't normally give product reviews but when I was deciding on this pack there were hardly any reviews out so I wanted to add my own to the mix to help people deciding in the future. I've only used this pack for hiking so far but I believe it will be a great multi-sport option.Fit:True to size. My torso is roughly 19" but I went with the large. I have the back panel nearly as low as it goes and it fits great. The pack is quite narrow which was a big plus for me and fits close to the body. The straps can be adjusted for normal, comfortable, hiking or can be quickly tightened to really secure the bag to you for tighter movements or sports. When I've really tightened the straps the bag does not move when jogging or traversing obstacles.Likes:Close, secure fit. ... MoreI don't normally give product reviews but when I was deciding on this pack there were hardly any reviews out so I wanted to add my own to the mix to help people deciding in the future. Redesigned hiking pole attachment system. Hip pocket can fit my Samsung S20FE. All the usual Osprey features. Buttoned front strap pockets - yes people rip on them but I use one to hold a pen for geocaching and the other I sometimes stick an arm of my sunglasses in and its yet to fall out; being able to close the pocket is better than traditional open bungee designs.Dislikes:Front strap button pockets pop open easily if you have something large closed in them (my knife). Price. I'm a sweaty hiker and my lower back and chest under the straps still gets quite hot and sweaty - it is quite a bit better than other packs I've had but worth noting (the pack does not touch the rest of my back so that area is great).Compared to the original Talon 22:I briefly had the old Talon 22 with the floppy back and found the fit wasn't the best for me. Plus with the wider design it looked like I was wearing a turtle shell. While the Pro is supposed to be more durable I think they are both durable enough that you wouldn't notice a difference. The main differences I found were: Different design and fit (main difference), buttoned strap pockets (useful for me), redesigned hiking pole attachment (no more hard plastic loop in front of you), stowable ice axe loops (nice to not have them flopping around when not used), price.I love this pack and with the lifetime warranty I plan on using it for many sports for a very long time. With that in mind I think the price can be justified but there is no doubt that it's way too expensive. I think for skinny people the narrow design alone justifies this version over the original, unless the new hard back version of the original is different than the older design that I had tried. I hope this helps some people, happy hiking

I put an embarrassing amount of time into trying to pick my daypack. I wanted to be able to do huge, full day hikes or something light. One pack to work for all situations. The 30l size cinches down enough to work on half day hikes to make this work for me. Where it excels is the back suspension system and the materials, as well as the open top brain and pack access. It is a bit between a cross between the Talon and Stratos systems of suspension and air flow. The *only* downside— for me— is that it does not have the stow and go pole feature. Your poles will store but you’ll need to take the pack off to do it. You can, however, create something out of shock cord or hair band ties to create your own if you want that feature.Overall, this might be the best pack on ... MoreI put an embarrassing amount of time into trying to pick my daypack. I wanted a pack suited to single day Scrambling and Multi Pitch climbing outside of Winter, when fundamentally you need less extra clothing and kit. This pack is just right. The Pro 30 is lightweight, tough and slightly more streamlined than the standard Talon. I like the big entry and simplicity. Unlike in Winter, the external pockets are an asset and especially the external helmet store which helps make use of the internal volume when carrying a bigger rack and rope. It has good adjustability and not overly padded but offers a good combination of support, mobility and some breathability. It is of course not cheap however I have no regrets and cannot really fault the pack so ultimately worth the premium (I got a reasonable discount thanks to BMC membership). ... MoreI wanted a pack suited to single day Scrambling and Multi Pitch climbing outside of Winter, when fundamentally you need less extra clothing and kit. As a Mountain Leader I am out most weeks in the hills and wanted a smaller bag than my favourite “all-rounder” - the Talon 44 - purely for use in Summer in the UK and overseas. That is the best bag for my work that I have come across so far, so the smaller-volume Pro had something to live up to. It doesn’t disappoint. It carries a full day’s leader kit with ease and with space to spare - and is incredibly comfortable to carry even when full. It’s perfect also for day walks and swallows all my Summer kit easily - and the side compression (a weak point on my previous-version Talon 44 imho) works really well. When travel is again on the agenda it will be a perfect hand-luggage size. With some practice I suspect it could also be used in Winter for personal trips given ... MoreAs a Mountain Leader I am out most weeks in the hills and wanted a smaller bag than my favourite “all-rounder” - the Talon 44 - purely for use in Summer in the UK and overseas. I’ve had a previous version of the Talon 22. Loved the pack and figured the upgrades to the pro looked good. I do like the fabric, durability, and the way it carries. But…and it’s a big “but”… I can no longer reach anything in the side pockets. Too far back since the pack is narrowed and taller so can’t contort my arms to get anything in or get it out. I pretty much have to remove the pack which is way too much work and inconvenience.I’ve tried and tried but will probably have to return it; just lost so much functionality. In addition the hip belt pockets are the same size but a non-stretchy material. So also harder to use; should have used more fabric to compensate for the no stretch.
I bought this talon pro 20 about a month ago and have use it for general use since then. This is the third osprey bag that I have owned. I prefer the previous generation shoulder straps that were more breathable and suitable for hot weather. The shoulder straps in the overall fit is excellent nevertheless. The other cinch straps and so forth are minimal in weight which goes along with the pro line. what surprises me is how baggy the top of the bag is: there’s no way to cinch down the top and it doesn’t fit snugly against the bag wins it up unlike other Osprey town bags of the past. Especially for a pro version of this surprises me and is why I can only rate two stars.
L/X-LARGE sizing. Excellent suspension for day hiking. Too early to tell about the material but it seems quite robust. This pack sublime nuts a 20l day pack which cant quite keep up with multiple winter clothing and gear, the extra space in the 30l is great. Downsides? The pack is built for bladders, the side pockets hold my water bottles just fine but they are not retrievable while wearing the pack due to the pocket depth/sleeve height. Otherwise excellent!
Purchased this bag for an endurance hike and also for summer use. Overall it is a very good bag perfect for warm weather treking with plenty of space if you don't need to worry about carrying layers. It can get filled up pretty quick if you have layers to carry as well as cook systems but over all its perfect for what I need it for.It was used for 12hrs in 20'c weather with no complaints what so ever. No chaffing or sore points from it. Easily Carried all the safety kit I needed plus food, water and treking poles on the outside.Only negative is no inbuilt rain cover. Yes material is water resistant but having a rain cover would of been the icing on the cake.
