We brought the camera/sock bundle, and after few hiccups with wifi set up etc we were good to go. Product quality is really good. The camera images are good if you have good wifi. I place the sock on my baby when he was 1week old and first night, it gave me the red alarm showing his heart rate (HR) was 330bpm. My baby was sound asleep, breathing and not showing any signs of distress. I replaced the sock, checked its placement, switched it to another foot but it was still alarming. We were transferred and admitted to Children’s hospital and the rest is history… He was diagnosed with SVT (SupraVentricular Tachycardia), received treatment and is now on heart meds with the goal to slowly taper him off of it. SVT occurs on babies but since they can tolerate faster heart rate than adults, they show no symptoms until they are much older. The cardiologists described SVT as if my baby is running a marathon and sooner or later would have shown symptoms. It is treatable though so it is good that it was caught earlier. I am still using the owlet monitor and no episodes since he’s been on meds. He is now 5 months so I do highly recommend this product especially for new moms like me!

This review is long overdue. Since Owlet will not help and being we are out of the warranty I figured I would attempt to save a few people from this poorly made product. First, I will say that the sock monitoring feature is fantastic. When our son was an infant it truly gave us piece of mind. However, this sense of peace overshadowed the cheaply made and poor quality camera that came with it. If anyone is purchasing something for almost $400 the expectation is that it works, not just for less than a year, but for a while longer than that. So I am hoping that someone somewhere reads my review and chooses another product instead of Owlet. In this day in age when businesses are constantly competing for loyal consumers I would turn away from Owlet and look elsewhere. As the old saying goes “you get what you pay for” but unfortunately we never got a fraction of what was was paid for this product. Do yourself a favor, look somewhere else.

I’ve had the sock now for 18 months (3/2020 right when Covid started) when my daughter was born and I bought the smart sock 2… (then I upgraded to the sock 3 about 4 months later) but I’ll start there. The sock gave us peace of mind and knowing that our newborn is safe at night in her bassinet. I will say that the sock 2 did work with the SNOO bassinet but our bassinet never increased speed much since our girl was a good sleeper. Also, some or a lot of the reviews are old and on the ORIGINAL sock which was glitchy, but with all the app improvements even over the last 18 months, this is an amazing product and my sock 2 has performed better with the updates as well and doesn’t seem to have the base station issues that it did when I first started using it. I would honestly pay a lot more if I had to since it’s worth every penny! You just can’t justify money over safety in my opinion! I just had to write this review if it helps anyone that’s teetering whether or not to get it… GET IT and get your SLEEP! Oh, also… fun fact! I can tell if my daughter is getting a fever… (vaccines) heart rate has a steady increase on the graph vs more of a straight line AND I know if the Tylenol is working because her heart rate will drop to normal and continue a straight pattern till the fever picks up again, so you just get to know the normal and for me, that’s good because at least I’ll know if something is off with oxygen or heart rate. Check out the graphs, very easy to use, and I like the tracking for every night and nap! Give it a chance and you won’t regret it.

We found the Owlet when looking for a product to monitor our son’s oxygen levels. He was born with a rare condition and his trachea never fully developed. Most of the time it’s a non-issue but if he gets sick or even the tiniest bit congested it sounds like he has pneumonia. After a 5 day stay in the PICU due to the common cold we became overly cautious and were making trips to the doctor/ER way too often. I wish I had found this product earlier on to get a little more bang for our buck, as it does come with a pretty hefty price tag. I’m utterly shocked that our incredibly active toddler doesn’t seem to mind it on his foot at all. Not once has he made a real effort to rip it off (which he could with ease). I saw another review that mentioned a constant “wiggling” notification. The only time we get that is when he has it on before in his crib or after he’s woken up and is legitimately walking or crawling around. He tosses and turns all night and we’ve never had an issue with it reading his levels while he’s sleeping. I do wish that it was a bit more user friendly in some aspects such as turning off and adjusting the parameters for notifications. It would be nice if it measured their temperature as well but I’m no scientist or tech whiz so maybe there’s a reason they’re not able to include that as a feature. Overall Owlet has given us the peace of mind we needed to sleep through the night. I’m no longer an anxious wreck, shooting out of bed every two hours to make sure my baby’s still breathing. And a rested mommy is a happy mommy.
