Lifesaving product that has gotten our bunnies back on track numerous times. I do wish it were a bit more affordable, though. We always have some in the fridge just in case. Feeding them it can be an art, if they are fussy. Some rabbits will apparently just slurp to up from a bowl/plate, but ours never liked it that much. If your rabbit is fussy, a good trick is to put the syringe in their mouth and move the tip around until they start chewing a bit. There are two flavours. Both smell bad to me. But it's so important that they get nutrition when they are sick, so I am always grateful this exists.

This product is the best things for a sick piggie or one that has stopped eating. You can play with the consistency - which makes it perfect for however you want to feed it. Has helped my late piggie during the last months of her life, get all her nutrients. Always keep some at home for emergencies!

Our vet put our very lazy bearded dragon on this (syringe fed), initially due to lethargy and weight loss. He had much more energy and general interest in his environment literally after a dose or 2. Now we keep it on hand for when he slips back into lazy habits to make sure hes getting the plant nutrition he needs. He would be happy to eat insects only, but he needs his veggies. Fresh is ideal, but this helps his GI health when he is stubborn.
This product is a lifesaver for rabbits with GI stasis who aren't eating or pooping. I fed my bunny 20cc of the mixture 3 times a day for about 2 weeks. My bunny liked when I added a little plain unsweetened applesauce or baby food squash. I also gave her simethicone for bloating and Reglan to get her digestive system moving. She is doing much better now. Oxbow is well known as the best brand of treats and Critical Care is the go-to formula for herbivores. Every exotic animal vet recommends it.
Zabba went off of her food. Even vegetables! She is sick and on medication so its very important to give food to her. Critical care comes in here. It gives them nutrition as you syringe feed them critical care.
I tried feeding her with anise flavor and she fought me. I tried apple banana flavor which I mix with pumpkin and she likes it. Not something either piggy wants all the time but comes in handy when Oscar gets sick or doesn't want to eat. Princess is my new piggy I'm trying to figure out. I found out she had pneumonia 1 week after I got her from a Craigslist sale. She was in the early stages of pneumonia. The antibiotics took a toll on her GI tract. She wouldn't eat on her own. So this stuff was food in her tummy. She is starting to eat a little on her own.Oscar was fed this when he had a pleural effusion in both his lungs when he was a year old. He was fed this for 4 weeks. He did eat hay so he was able to avoid weight loss. He is recovered. He is 4 1/2 years old ... MoreI tried feeding her with anise flavor and she fought me. This is something to keep on hand for guinea pig parents or parents of bunnies or other herbivores that become sick.
This product could not be dissolved sufficiently in warm water, in order to administer to our guinea pig, via a dosing syringe. (This was the manner of administration that was advised by our veterinarian.)
My bunny is most likely permanently going to need syringe feeding to help him with receiving enough nutrients and fiber daily while he is battling his kidney disease. Critical care is not the easiest to obtain, especially for a low price nowadays, and even more so the Apple Banana flavor. I’m so thankful for PetGuys for having this specific flavor and price tag since this will be a constant necessity for my bun-bun. Delivery is quick (even for economy) and my bun is happy!
I mix this product with a little bit of apple sauce and water and my rabbit goes to town. He drinks it out of a bottle. Be sure you warm the mixture in the microwave for .40 seconds. Your pet will thank you.
