I bought this with trepidation as every plastic fat separator purchased previously ruptured when the hot fat was poured into it. Not this time! Also the separation process is easier and more efficient than those where you tip the separator. Would give it five stars if it were glass, but then I might bot be able to afford it. Great design! Now it just has to last!

Jug is easy to use, easy to clean. Gravy can flow freely through the valve. It's possible to get very precise fat separation from the last bits by holding the jug at eye level then working the handle. There is also very little drip from the valve at base. Strainer at the top is very useful - better than my previous fat separator which always got blocked with a piece of onion or similar. Excellent product.

Without any doubt. The best kitchen gadget I have ever had. Fantastic quality. Very srurdy, easy to use with no effort involed I usually spend ages trying to skim fat off meat juices & gravy with a teaspoon! Not any more. It's epic. Thank you so much OXO X X X X

Making gravy just got even easier! Lid to catch any veg you've been cooking your meat with. Plus the hole in the bottom to separate the fat. Super easy and less messy / faff than previous separators I've had.
This fat separator works amazingly well. Before buying this, I would make broth and then leave the broth in the fridge until the fat solidified and I could scrape it off the top. Not any more. This product allows me to remove most of the fat while I am in the process of making broth. The handle is comfortable and easy to squeeze and the product is easy to clean.
I thought this was the neatest fat separator ever made, a MUST have for every cook, until the red valve on the bottom came apart. I only realized this defect while pouring hot turkey pan drippings from a roasting pan into it and liquid began pouring out the bottom, all over my counter, my kitchen and my blouse! What a messy and embarrassing disaster with a house full of hungry guests. And once this red rubber valve comes apart there is no fixing it and it must be thrown away. I usually love OXO products but not in this case, really disappointed.
This tool is a game changer! We have been challenged for years trying to keep the fat out of the drippings with the old style separator. This one is so easy to use. All of the fat rises to the top and rest of the drippings are below. You just pull the lever and the good stuff comes out. So easy!
I was surprised at the size of the jug which was much bigger than I anticipated. The separator worked as it should the spout at the base sealed and held the juice whilst the fat floated to the top. Upon squeezing the handle the juice in the bottom flowed out into the pan. Upon releasing the handle the fat was left in the jug. This was a very successful action. The measurements on the side are in uk cups, mills and ounces.Pros: Large jug, easy to use. The sieve on the top caught the vegetable and meat pieces, and would also act as a fly screen during the summer when left to stand on the work surface. It was easy to clean in soapy water. It is dishwasher proof. Holds more juice than came out of our large Christmas turkey and this made it very heavy to hold over the pan with one hand and squeeze the handle at the same time as there is no second handle opposite the main handle. The handle would be quite hard to squeeze open for an elderly person with arthritis in their fingers. Could have done with a thumb lock on the handle to keep it in the open position. If the silicone nozzle on the bottom of the jug perishes, then the whole jug is useless as this would leave a hole in the base of the jug. The silicone nozzle can not be replaced, as it is sealed into the plastic, meaning the whole jug would have to be throw away. Due to these many cons, I feel the jug is expensive.Conclusion: Great for large families, young people or people able to squeeze the the hard handle, and requires a large cupboard to store in. This means I would recommend this separator more for young large families as opposed to the elderly or a small family due to its large size and tough handle
The worst part of making soup is always skimming the fat off the top. This fat separator makes that step ridiculously easy. It's such a simple design and works brilliantly. Super easy to use and easy to clean, too. And I love that it's plastic, so I don't have to worry about it breaking.
I gave this product only four stars but NOT because of the product--it's great! The reason for the rating is that delivery was promised by a given date but the product didn't arrive until a week later. That's shoddy customer service from what I thought was a reputable company. But the separator: well-designed; sturdy; ergonomic; and large enough to handle any juices from your favorite meats. I'm glad I bought it!
