OXO Good Grips - Splatter Screen With Folding Handle

This is the third splatter screen I've tried in recent years and it is definitely the best. Love the OXO Good Grips brand. This size is 34cm diameter but has grooves to fit smaller size pans, and the handle folds in for easier storage and putting in dishwasher. A very good anti-splatter device, it really does stop the vast majority of splash!

This has been used multiple times over a large 12" cast iron skillet (steaks, burgers, etc.). So far so good. It has significantly reduced the splatter around the kitchen while having no impact on cooking. As noted by others, it is large. It's the right size if you use a 12" skillet. Too large if you regularly use something smaller. It needs to be stored where you store sheet pans, cookie sheets, cutting boards, or other large items. The hand doesn't lay flat when folded, so storage could be tricky for those with tight spaces. Cannot compare to other similar products.

We bought this to replace a normal, mesh splatter screen. Unfortunately the holes are tiny. It does work as a splash screen but is really more like a lid. the result is that food is partly fried and partly steamed. I was tempted to return it after the first use but we persevered and now it is too late. We've bought a conventional mesh screen and this one now sits in the cupboard.
