Nice touches include steel hooks that connect with the corners of the 2.4M Gazebo. Quality seems good. One strange touch: the windows on the back wall close on the outside, meaning when it rains you have to go out in the rain and close them, you can't do so from inside the Portico. On the other hand, the main entrance into the Gazebo has the seal on the inside of the fly screen, the opposite of the back windows. The 2.4 M Gazebo and this Portico are very easy for a single person to erect, no help needed. Overall I am very pleased with it.

I bought this earlier this year, and have now done a couple of trips with it, in a range of weather conditions. I can safely say that it is ideal for fine weather, and fine weather only. No pooling issues, but the Gazebo does need to be on the middle or top height settings to have the portico taut enough. It held up well in moderate to strong winds but that was probably helped by the decent pegs I use. The supplied ones are just a waste of resources and not worth anyone’s time. We camped at a festival, and had rain on and off over the weekend. After one particularly heavy fall, which only lasted 20 minutes or so, water started to come through the roof. Later we found water had also come up through the floor. I’m sure Snowys will be quick to tell me I was doing it ... MoreI bought this earlier this year, and have now done a couple of trips with it, in a range of weather conditions. We also camped in cold weather, and found condensation to be an issue. The lack of a fly is pretty annoying, as it would help with rain protection, condensation and light blocking. The Oztrail Monsoon rainfly wouldn’t be adequate protection, it needs a rainfly of a similar shape and quality to the Oztent RV ones. The fabric of the portico is very poor quality, and the light grey/white colour makes it feel like you’re inside a lightbulb in the mornings. The inside is really poorly appointed, with only one gear pocket. No hooks in the roof or anything. The inability to zip the pod to gazebo walls is frustrating too. Overall the idea is great, but the execution needs a lot of work. For now it will be good on trips where the weather is perfect (they’re very rare, those trips!), or as a ‘play’ space for my child and his friends on longer trips.

Have only attached to the gazebo as a test. Easy setup and pump up mattress fits nicely. Large opening allows easy access. Would be better with Velcro on the straps that attach to the gazebo that would allow a tighter attachment, but that is being picky. Now to test it out for real up the cape

I ordered from Snowys and it arrived 2 business days later. I purchased two and used them the weekend after they arrived. They are really easy to put up and worked great. We ended up having severe winds and rain overnight and woke up dry with the tents still in place. We were concerned they wouldn’t hold up but were very happy they did. I’d love to be able to get a weather proof cover to go over the top though as extra protection. They are pretty big inside. One of my kids had a single mattress and there was room for miles. I always pack extra thick and long pegs as these are very flimsy. I tried for half an hour to roll it up so everything fit back into the bag but no luck. Not sure why they always have to make tent bags so tight. Even so, very very happy with ... MoreI ordered from Snowys and it arrived 2 business days later. I camped for the first time in around 20 years, so had to purchase all new gear. The only dud was an item I chose myself without consulting the store staff - the OZtrail Gazebo Portico. It took me longer than it should to set up as I couldnt work out how to orient it, and it packed down to about 100 times the size it was when I bought it so now takes up heaps of room. The worst features though were (1) it doesn't zip to the oztrail walls so leaves gaping holes into the canopy (gazebo) that let the wind and rain in (2) the window coverings don't seal at the bottom, so wind raced through the portico and items near the window got wet (3) the material the portico is made of is very thin so it was either very cold or hot inside. Purchased 2 of the portico 3.0 to replace the gazebo tent inner we use to use. Now able to have 2 sides protected from weather and 2 rooms. We use one room for sleeping and the other for camping gear like fridge and battery so out of weather and view of others. The main gazebo is now shelter to sit protected from the sun / rain. Highly recommend these and purchased at an awesome price from snowys. Items were sent and received fast so very happy camper.
Very poorly designed tent. Cannot keep out the lighest of rains. Floor is flooded. I would not recommend this item if rain is expected. Poor form from Oztrail. Surely more thought could have gone into the design and materials of this tent.
Am sitting under my 3m gazebo as I write this. I purchased 2 porticos and a solid side wall to go with the gazebo. It gives me more than enough space for my family of four and being able to go from the gathering/cooking area straight into the tent to sleep is great. We had some light rain and 45km winds today and so far it has held up well. I can also configure the tent as a long with 2 on each side or an L depending on the camp site. The obvious glaring omission as other reviewers have mentioned is the lack of zips to join them to the side wall sections and be able to bug and wing proof the gazebo. Include these and you have a serious winner. Nearly every other camper at my site has a 3m gazebo for cooking/gathering plus a seperate tent for sleeping and my tent set ... MoreAm sitting under my 3m gazebo as I write this. The consensus is that they’re a great idea but they’ll wait til the portico comes with side zips.
We bought this to attach to our caravan awning - and yes it fits. We put a tent pole against the van so there is something for the velcro to attach to and the top and other side attach easily with the velcro and strap. We have travelled from SE Qld to Darwin and the portico tent has stood up to torrential rain without pooling on top. One time the rain was so heavy that our campsite was awash in 4 inches of water and it seeped in through the zipped up door but didn't pool on top. The trick is to maintain tension by tightening the top straps and raising the awning or gazebo sufficiently to eliminate any sag in the roof. Brilliant and so glad we gave it a try. BTW it also works well on our gazebo.
I am very lucky in that I brought the portico home, set it up with my 2.4 gazebo and instantly saw that the roof design would mean that water would pool badly. Snowys allowed me to return it. The 3m doesn't seem to have this flaw. Such a pity.
