It's alright, it stopped twice on the first use then worked fine with another disc, It won't connect to the internet even when I've typed in all the internet details manually which is a massive downer! It's slow & sluggish, The only good points are it's DVD (all kinds from most regions) Blu-Ray & a CD (again a load of different CD formats) player plus it's small size. But in all honesty I was going to send it back but someone else in the household had crushed the box & instructions & had put them in the recycling bin, it doesn't even come with a HDMI lead! I'd browse about for another elsewhere (in hindsight in my case!).

Good value multi-region BRD playback with Pansasonic DR mode capability

I'm happy with the design, build and performance of the DMP-BD84EB-K. in the few weeks that I have owned it. However, the main feature I wish to point out is this machine's ability to play back (from Blu-Ray Disc) recordings made by Panasonic Blu-Ray / HDD recorders in Panasonic's proprietary DR mode. My Panasonic DMR-BWT700EB recorder enables me to save the entire stream of a terrestrial HDTV (or SD) broadcast to HDD in DR mode. That results in comparatively efficient files, whose size permits around 6 to 8 hours of HDTV, or more than 20 hours of SD, to be copied to a single BRD. I bought this DMP-BD84EB-K in the hope and belief that, as a Panasonic machine, it would be able to play back such recordings from BRD. I bought this DMP-BD84EB-K in the hope and belief that, as a Panasonic machine, it would be able to play back such recordings from BRD. So it's with great satisfaction that I now confirm that it does so very well. Furthermore, because the self-recorded BRDs have no on disc menu, the interface on the DMR-BWT700EB is a machine-generated menu identical to its HDD menu. But actually, for such discs, I prefer the player-generated menu on the DMP-BD84EB-K, because it fits more on each page. A slight caveat is that the DMP-BD84EB-K (mine at least) has a lower limit on the number of characters it will display for the title of each recorded item, when compared with the recorder. I don't know the respective character limits, but it's not a major issue in my opinion; the number of characters which this unit displays is reasonable and sufficient to identify items uniquely. Also, I presume the display limit could be relaxed in software, because the complete item titles are obviously saved to disc. The only other minor inconvenience I found was that the DMP-BD84EB-K remote control handset has an overlapping command set with the DMR-BWT700EB, so if you operate both machines in the same room you may need a means of shielding the sensor on the machine that you don't wish to respond at a given moment (I mostly avoid having them both powered up at the same time). To summarize, if you want a compact multi-region Blu-ray player I recommend this unit. Further, if you use a Panasonic machine to archive recordings in DR mode, than I HIGHLY recommend this unit.

I needed a blurry foer the study having recently installed a Panasonic TV there . Didn't need anything flash just something that would play discs and link well to TV . This at 359 seemed ideal and cheap considering it was Panasonic, it works great the remote also controls the TV ideal . Picture and sound booth excellent. Could not buy online only Telesales or shop so bought via phone added 6 guarantee for £10 (which is refundable if unused )

Great little player, apart ftom the unnecessary limitations.
17 March 2020

Great piece of kit. No complaints re picture and sound quality. dvd upscaling on our 4K READY SAMSUNG TV WORKS FINE. What is not so good is what happens you first load a disc. Any attempt yo invoke the top level menu or get straight to the start of a disc is greeted with a forbidden symbol. If the disc has loads of tedious trailers the player tries to make you cycle through them all before you can get to what you really want. Not the end of the world but an irritating limitation to what is otherwise an excellent machine. Maybe a firmware update would sort it out. Panasonic, please note.

Okay does as it says

For money well worth it and plays all region of DVDs, this is my first Blu Ray player so haven't tried Blu Ray in yet but certainly plays my DVDs well. Fir Netfix and I players never used them so can't comment rather they work or not. The player is connected directly to my monitor not a TV and plays good. The only problem I have with it player is a lot smaller then what I though and does not zoom left and right just up and down, other then that am very happy with it and like I said for price can well recommend does what I brought it for, I do plan of getting some Blu Ray discs as would love to see the difference to DVDs.

Very good Blu-ray player, superb picture quality. The unit is small and compact so takes up little space and in fact we hardly notice it in he rack. It starts quickly and is quiet plus you have that confidence of it being a Panasonic product, never had any issues with the brand. Easy to change the remote so that it did not operate other Panasonic products. Usual good service from Richer Sound, the guy at the Chester store where I bought the product from could not have been more helpful. With service like this you can understand why Richer Sounds are so popular.

Good Points: It looks good. Works as expected.Improvement Points: The software on it is pretty abysmal. USB port doesn't read common formats. Clunky to use for media files on USB devices but if you just want it for Blurays it's okay.

Tiny size, decent performance.
22 March 2020

Hooked up to my 7.1 AV system via HDMI to the AV receiver. The unit is very small and light, sits atop my vintage tape deck. No display on the machine itself so you need to use the "status" button on the remote to find out run times etc. The only problem I can see is that like most modern devices there's no analogue out if you have older equipment. And the remote for this new player also operates my 15 year old Panasonic DVD recorder which isn't always good - when the DVD recorder pops open because I want to eject a Blu-Ray from the new machine. But no major problem. Very good performance for the price. decently fast internet use. Good upconversion of DVDs and good playback of Blu-Ray discs. Recommended if you don't need/want a full size player.

really good value DVD player
30 December 2019

We bought this as a Christmas present for our daughter. Her previous one was just under 6 years old and it stopped reading discs. This was very easy to install and set up. We didn't need a smart DVD player as she has a smart TV so this was the ideal purchase.Picture quality and sound is excellent and build quality seems decent too. She's really pleased and as older teenagers can be so hard to please, it must be good. Compared to the previous one (not a Panasonic), it's like pitting a space shuttle against a glider, absolutely no contest.Recommended.
