Had the unit for 3 weeks now. cooked 4 fruit cakes Last one spot on. Need to keep cake covered with baking paper and alfoil until 8 minutes before finish. I was used to my 27 year old Panasonic . Also roasted 3 Turkey rolls !kg each.Individually with roast vegies. and a Pork roll 2 Kg individually . Crackling perfect (50 min @220deg then back down to 180 deg for 35min per Kg) Excellent for all microwave functions as well. Every day use. Love It.

The microwave part of the Combi works at least as well as my smaller Panasonic microwave but the grill and convection cooking is much less effective than my ordinary oven. Because I need to save space in a small kitchenette I am willing to compromise. The automatic timings on things like a small lamb roast have been inaccurate but I will persevere. So far, toast and chips do not brown when they are cooked as per instructions, but they eventually crisp. My pyrex dish cracked when I tried to raise the food closer to the grill, but I hope to find a safe way to do this, hopefully with more browning. I am working my way through some of the recipes provided and one or two have been O.K. - like cottage pie made with a combination of methods. Overall, meal cooking times ... MoreThe microwave part of the Combi works at least as well as my smaller Panasonic microwave but the grill and convection cooking is much less effective than my ordinary oven. Overall, meal cooking times seem to be longer than my normal microwave and oven mix and preheating also takes a lot longer. I am hoping that when I have had more experience with it The combi will do the job I bought it for. The manual is fairly comprehensive and there is an app with some recipes but I've given up trying to download it. Invest in some good oven mitts.

I was given the product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer programme. Having only had a compact "dial-up" microwave, I have to admit I was a bit over-awed when I saw the size of the microwave and the number of options. However it fitted neatly on our kitchen unit, and once I'd read through the manual a couple of times I needn't have worried - even though I have only had it just over a week it has already proved its worth. The options of microwave, grill, combi &convection oven are really useful, and a real bonus if the main oven is fully used. Our first try out was a baked stuffed marrow using the convection option, which turned out brilliantly. We also used the combi option for a pizza which worked very well with a nicely crispy topping. ... MoreI was given the product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer programme. Microwave jacket potatoes were perfect, as was the reheating of a chilli and a cold cup of tea. Sunday dinner of a roast chicken using the combi oven was very good, with a lovely crispy top, quick and just as tasty as if done on the oven, and the roast potatoes and carrots were quickly and easily cooked. The timer setting to delay the start of cooking is also really useful if you need to get on with other things and not worry about running into the kitchen to press the magic buttons! My only failure was a microwave fruit cake, which to be honest is more a failing of myself as a microwave-cake novice rather than the oven itself. I made the schoolgirl error of assuming that because the top of the cake was still pale that it wasn't fully cooked. After zapping it for another five minutes I ended up with a cross between a very thick biscotti and a lethal weapon!! However it did soften a bit on reheat and as it was a tasty (albeit very hard) fruit biscuit I'm sure if it had been cooked for the appropriate time it would have actually been a very tasty cake! I am very happy with the microwave and looking forward to exploring the helpful recipes that are provided in the comprehensive instruction manual.

I was given this product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer Programme. My first impression was that it is a modern stainless steel design that would fit easily into any kitchen. The first item I cooked was a 'bake at home' cinnamon whirls using the convection oven, these cooked in under the time stated, once the oven has reached the set temperature it beeps taking the guess work out of whether the oven is at the correct temperature. My children love it & couldn't wait to use it, I will happily let my 13 year old cook a pizza using it. I used the grill to cook lamb leg steaks for the 6-10 minutes it stated on the packet, the grill is very efficient. Since taking delivery of this product I haven't used my main oven at all, I've cooked every meal using the various programmes. We're planning to extend our house and having this 3 in 1 oven will still enable me to cook for my family while our kitchen is out of action for a couple of months. It should cope with everything we want & we'll still be able to cook a Sunday roast. The microwave is great for cooking vegetables and heating up milk for hot chocolate. It's got a good capacity unlike a lot of other microwaves that are quite small. The enamel plate is so easy to clean, it isn't non stick but any food stuck to it from using the oven function comes off so easily, which is a definite plus point. The only slight negative point i have found so far is after cooking some chicken in the convection oven, I was unable to use the appliance to cook anything else until it had cooled down, the display was showing 'hot'. I'm looking forward to using the many other functions, reading the book the possibilities are endless. I'm cooking a lemon cake with it tomorrow. The family Absolutely love it!
We have a Panasonic Inverter microwave & conventional electric oven & cooktop. The new Panasonic NN-CD87KS has been an attractive add-on. It is a sleek-looking unit finished in stainless steel whose minimalist appearance belies the range of features it offers. It has been well designed to be space-saving, is large enough inside for a dish up to 36 cm. We cook for the two of us, but also, two or three times a week, for our offspring families (including 8 grandchildren), and for larger gatherings when we have guests. The beauty of the combination functions of this unit is that it cooks things quickly like a regular microwave, but with the convection and grill functions allowing for browning and crisping. The beauty of the combination functions of this unit is that it cooks things quickly like a regular microwave, but with the convection and grill functions allowing for browning and crisping. Using the combination, for example of microwave and convection, foods such as a roast cook in about half the time. We found a roast cooked this way no different from ones we've cooked in the past in our usual oven. In these first 2 weeks of use, we've also done casseroles, lasagne, meatballs, cupcakes and a chocolate birthday cake. There is an auto program weight setting as well as an auto sensor facility for certain foods that sets the cooking time automatically by detecting the steam emitted. One touch reheating is terrific for leftovers. Defrost and turbo defrost worked well after a couple of goes. It's brilliant for reinvigorating 2- or 3-day old bread, and there's even a suggested setting for leavening dough for those who want to bake their own. We are most impressed with this microwave & are looking forward to discovering the many other features it has to offer. For smaller families, it could very well work as a replacement for a regular microwave & oven. For the larger family or for the serious chef or entertainer, it would be a great add on to a regular microwave and oven to allow multiple dishes to be prepared at once. Who knows? It may now be the entrée in my newly found leisure years to getting my culinary skills up to those of my better half!
Basic functions confusing and the numbers for cooking are useless. Who in their right mind is going to weigh the food before cooking. That's why you have a microwave - to speed things up! My previous microwave (Panasonic Genius) was perfect. Easy to use, easy to understand instructions, 2 level convection which was great for things like fish and chips. Now before we cook anything we have to refer to the very confusing book, spend precious minutes finding what we want to see which accessories we need to use. I recommended my previous Panasonic to several people and had three myself. I bought one as a gift as it was just so great. I tried desperately to get the same one again, but this was the nearest to what we wanted. Will definitely not recommend this one to ... MoreBasic functions confusing and the numbers for cooking are useless. Who in their right mind is going to weigh the food before cooking. This oven is a great space saver. We bought it because our breadmaker broke and the microwave oven was on the way out. We can use it for most baking, roasting and grilling needs, instead of using the big stove/oven which takes much longer to heat up. The only downside is the temperature range which jumps from 40 degrees to 100 degrees, this prevents you from low temperature cooking of meat, which requires temperatures between 70 to 90 degrees. Other than that it is a very versatile appliance.
I previously owned a Panasonic combination microwave oven that lasted for around 10 years before it packed in. I then purchased a different make of combination microwave oven which lasted around 2 years tops and wasn't anywhere near as good as my previous Panasonic combination microwave oven. So I decided to go back to a Panasonic make and WOW this combination microwave oven is simply brilliant. There are lots of different pre programmed settings at the turn of the dial making it extremely easy to use. The display on the front of the oven even displays the process of what needs to be done as well as showing what accessories are needed for the settings ie glass turntable, glass turntable plus steel tray, or all three accessories, glass turntable, steel tray and wired ... MoreI previously owned a Panasonic combination microwave oven that lasted for around 10 years before it packed in. There is also the option of allowing the combination oven to automatically work out how much time is needed reheat a cooked meal with the simple press of the main button and the oven goes on how much steam the food gives off and re heats accordingly and I was sceptical to be honest regarding this function but it really does work taking all the guess work out of it. The digital display guides you step by step throughout the stages. I would definitely purchase this product again without hesitation and I highly recommend it.
In 1986 I bought my first microwave oven - a Thorn MT930. It was solid and well-built and did a good job of defrosting and reheating. . I especially liked the fact that it had an in-built temperature probe which you could stick in the food to ensure that it was reheated to exactly the right temperature - this seemed to me to be a very good idea, given reports that so many microwave ovens have difficulty reheating food correctly. Yet, as far as I can tell, that was the only microwave oven ever made that had that feature. Recently, after over 30 years service, it failed - I think the magnetron had gone up in smoke. I checked around and couldn't find any model with a built-in temperature probe. Yet, as far as I can tell, that was the only microwave oven ever made that had that feature. Recently, after over 30 years service, it failed - I think the magnetron had gone up in smoke. I checked around and couldn't find any model with a built-in temperature probe. Eventually, I came across this Panasonic model, which doesn't have a probe but it does have a humidity sensor (the 'Genius' sensor) which is reckoned to enable it to reheat food correctly by itself - and it's pretty good. If I'm reheating a bowl of something (bolognaise sauce, curry, chilli can carne, typically) then all I have got to do is to push the Start button and the oven uses the sensor to figure out the rest, without having to enter weights, cooking power or times. Also, like the Thorn oven, it is very solid and well-made. The only real problems I've had with it concern the clock. The first problem is that, in order to set the clock, you have to disconnect the oven from the mains supply and then go through the start up routine when you restore power. I can't see why this should be necessary and why you can't just set the time in an easier way. Also, if you want to use the clock just as a kitchen timer, you can. But the problem is that it won't let you time anything in seconds, you have to use whole minutes and, over 30 minutes, you can't even select individual minutes (such as 38 minutes) you have to select times at 5 minute intervals (such as 35 or 40) - although you can enter any time when cooking. If the clock was better thought out, it would be perfect.
This is my 3rd Panasonic Microwave in 20 years. The first lasted over 15 years, the second ( a compact version of the first) lasted less than 5 years. Nevertheless I wanted to stick with Panasonic as I've always been pleased with the design and performance. I almost went with the newer version of the compact again, but at the last moment I decided to try this more expensive, larger model - and I am so glad I did. When it arrived I felt unhappy about the size and the 18kg weight, especially as my kitchen is quite small. I waited 2 days before deciding it WOULD fit in the same space as the old compact and I would get used to seeing the bigger version in that corner. I waited 2 days before deciding it WOULD fit in the same space as the old compact and I would get used to seeing the bigger version in that corner. Within a few hours I didn't notice the difference in the external size - but I certainly like the roomier internal space. I can now use dishes that were too large for the old model. I thought I would not like using a dial (knob) after 20 years of just pressing buttons, but the dial spins round effortlessly and as speedily as you want, so setting the timer by dial rather than pressing a couple of buttons is just as quick. It pays to read the instructions first no matter how many years you have used a microwave, and the instruction book is practically the same as my old models, but there are subtle differences in using the automatic programmes via the dial. Because this model is so heavy it doesn't slide around the worktop like my old compact. As a single 78 yr old I do all my cooking using the microwave and the hob, haven't bothered with my cooker for years. I'm not a fan of oven chips and always used a deep fryer, but I have to say that this microwave does do oven chips really well. Everything from a jacket potato to a full Roast dinner is done to perfection and, of course, in very quick time. I think it is due to the larger interior that it appears there is less 'splashing' during cooking, resulting in less cleaning. Good results all round.
