Even though I carefully followed the online instructions, my first attempt looked awful. So bad that I felt it was not possible to apply the protector to be bubble-free. I am not talking about a small bubble or two but the whole screen being covered in bubbles. How could things be so bad?! I had taken my time. I had followed the instructions.See attached some of my attempts.I contacted the Paperlike Support and although they took a few days to respond, I have to say were excellent and did resolve my problems.A few additional things that I found helped me: a) using steam to take the dust out the air (I boiled a kettle a couple of times, close to where I was applying the protector), b) clean the bottom side of the screen protector before you remove its film (blue sticker) and stick it to the screen (it may well have dust on it that lands on your freshly cleaned screen just before you apply it!) and c) where I had a few small stubborn bubbles on the black edge of my iPad, I used the round sticker on the corner of the screen protector, to gently lift it back off the screen and using a little piece of scotch-tape removed any last small dust particles from underneath the sticky side of the protector (try this at your risk!), which worked very well for me.I ended-up with a perfect, bubble-free application.

The purpose of the Paperlike screen protector is to make the screen feel a little more like writing on paper. I think that might realistically be impossible. I give the Paperlike a 4/5 for their attempt though. A couple of problems are inherent to this/any screen protector. First, Apple puts all of this effort to make a crisp clear high resolution image and much of that is lost with the haze of the protector. Second, after a week of use, I can see my hand writing embedded into the screen protector. It’s not entirely legible as you’re constantly writing over your previous page but in some lighting, it’s definitely noticeable when the screen is dark. Finally, I also bought the pencil sleeve/gripper and I think I must hold the pen awkwardly because I find them awkward to hold while writing. I’m still using it and have made some adjustments just because the pencil itself is pretty narrow and rolls around a table without it. That said, it’s a pretty expensive purchase for what you get.

This one is by far the best I've used.Some "paper-like" screen covers have a rough feel that is intended to provide “toothiness”, or friction, for the Apple Pencil or stylus. That "toothiness" is what simulates the feeling of writing on paper. When that "toothiness" is too much, it can be somewhat jarring when you use your finger on the iPad screen. Paperlike's cover doesn't do that. Instead, it provides a smooth feel when using your finger directly on the screen.That "toothiness" on other covers can also distort the light from pixels on the screen, which can be annoying. Of all the matte covers I’ve used, this one is the best at not hindering my ability to still see the screen and enjoy the iPad's visual clarity.On top of all this, the Apple Pencil writes amazingly well on Paperlike. It really does feel like writing on paper. Just keep in mind you’ll need to replace the Paperlike cover and your Apple Pencil tip on a somewhat regular basis, depending on how much you use it. Artists will need to do so quite a bit. I use the Paperlike and my Apple Pencil to take notes more than anything else, so I probably won't need to replace the cover nearly as often as others.I definitely recommend this cover to anyone looking for a “paper-like” surface for your iPad.
