I tragically lost my trusted nanopuff vest and ordered this one as a replacement. I was sorely disappointed in it. I ordered a size larger than usual as my small nano puff jackets have been feeling a little snug around my hips. With this vest being a little longer, I thought I should have allow myself a little extra room. For the record, I'm 5'6 and athletic. I wear a 27 or 28 inch waist pants and am generally a size 6 is most clothing brands. The fit was awful! The hips were still a little snug, and the chest was HUGE. Why would you do this Patagonia? Why are active women not even allowed to have a little bit of hips? Third time purchasing this vest, only because I wear it 24/7 almost 10 months of the year. Lightweight, fits easily as layer under whatever you want, never stinks, washes perfectly, tough as anything, best vest ever. I am 5ft8/135 lbs and medium fits perfectly. Loose enough to layer under, but sits close enough to body so doesnt snag or feel too puffy. Amazingly warm. Windproof and water resistant. Will not keep you dry in solid rain, but great to repel snow. Absolutely no complaints.

I was so excited to find this vest on sale in an awesome green color, but ended up really disappointed.I have 2 other down sweater vests from the past 2-5 years or so, and the fit is totally different on this new one.I actually liked the softer feel of the material (and that it's made from recycled fishing nets, here for that!), but I got it in the same size as one I bought 2 years ago and I can barely zip it. The old one still fits great. Sizing up would make it way too boxy in the shoulders.I honestly don't understand why the waist on the Patagonia women's items has gotten SO small in the past few years. I seriously don't get the measurements - I have a pretty normal waist size, and many older style Patagonia items that fit great in the same sizes, but I'm ... MoreI was so excited to find this vest on sale in an awesome green color, but ended up really disappointed.I have 2 other down sweater vests from the past 2-5 years or so, and the fit is totally different on this new one.I actually liked the softer feel of the material (and that it's made from recycled fishing nets, here for that!), but I got it in the same size as one I bought 2 years ago and I can barely zip it. Disappointing this wont work well for me. WHY are the hips so narrow? XL is my typical Patagonia size, and both the remodeled (2022-2023) down sweater vest and jacket have such a narrow hip that I cant wear my size, even though its loose and large enough (even somewhat too large/baggy) in the upper part of it.Whats baffling is that they put a drawstring cinch on the bottom of both vest and jacket, so you can cinch the hip. WHY do that if youve already made the hip as narrow as the narrowest of female hips? This vest and jacket are made for women with boyish hips, so the cinch is unnecessary.Of course I wish the design would be remade (much more sensibly) FOR wider hips, and then women without hips could cinch and wear the same item too.Alternatively, this tight ... MoreDisappointing this wont work well for me. If it was a shorter vest/jacket then it would sit above the hip and this wouldnt be an issue. I am 5 ft 6 in and the XL almost covers my entire butt, its so long.I dont mind a longer length, but not when I cant get it over my hips. This vest/jacket is not a slim fit. It is bulky in the waist and chest. Super tight on the hip. I dont even have huge hips compared to my torso. My hip to waist ratio is less than on P. size chart. This fit is not a womens fit. If you lay the down vest or sweater flat youll see that the hip is NOT wider than the underarm side of the vest. Its just a square. Vast majority of womens bodies, pelvic bones, are wider at hips. Please remodel this for wider hips, include the cinch, and many many more women will be able to wear the same item.
I'm so disappointed in this vest. I have a nano puff jacket from a few years ago that I absolutely love, so decided to get the vest. I ordered the same size as my jacket (which fits perfectly), and the waist is SO tight. Why has the waist gotten so tight in Patagonia with the latest styles? Apparently women with relatively normal hips are not the model size. Also, I know this is Patagonia's thinnest fill and the whole thing about the nano puff is being thin but somewhat warm, but it's probably half the thickness of my nano puff jacket. Literally some of the baffled sections don't seem to have any fill at all, it's just 2 layers of thin fabric. Honestly it seems cheap (which it's not, obviously).Big disappointment. This is my third Patagonia vest, the second one being exactly like this one and the one before that having diamond-shaped stitching instead of boxed. I wore and wore the first one to the point of tiny holes near the zipper. Then I got the second one and have worn that for years also. Still using that one some and just started using the third. It is light in weight but adds so much in comfort. Glad they are still making it. I just wish they also still made a light weight zip up fleece like the one of those that I have worn for years too.
This is my third NanoPuff vest. They are very lightweight, but warm. I find them to be very versatile. I wear them in all types of settings. I prefer wearing this vest over a long sleeve shirt rather than a bulky sweater. I wear one everyday to coordinate with my wardrobe. If I get too warm, I can easily remove it and fold it down into its very own stuff sack and put into another bag or pocket. I have other vests, but this one is the best! Love Patagonia! Highly recommend!
I don't get the sizing discrepancy. I got a full-zip retro-pile jacket the same day as this nano vest, in size large. My intention was to use both as a mid-layer or outer layer on cool days. The jacket is definitely roomy, plenty of room for 2 layers underneath, whereas this vest is tight with zero stretch, only room for a single thin layer underneath. So I like it a lot, but I wish the sizing was more consistent across product lines. I would say this 'large' is two sizes smaller than the retro-pile 'large,' particularly if you have a generous bust.
I have a down vest from last year, this vest is smaller in the chest and sides than last year, it still works it just not as comfortable as my vest from last year. There are improvements like the big inside pockets, and it is warm. This vest keeps me warm through all types of weather. I can just wear my vest and mid-weight long sleeve shirt and be fine in cooler weather. I would buy it again, but if given a choice between last year model and this years, I would get last years, just a bit bigger and more comfortable. The one I got last year was white, and its been hard to keep clean. Patagonia makes excellent winter gear.
Unfortunately I only gave this three stars as it is very unflattering on me. I have a pear shape figure and it is not always an easy shape to find a good fit ie. in an a-line dress I easily fit a size 4, and jeans always a 6. This jacket barley fits over my hip area (could probably use a bigger size here) YET it is too roomy in the bust (I am an A cup) so in summary not entirely flattering. This is of course the drawback to online shopping, had I tried it on in a shop I probably wouldn't have purchased it. Saying that....It is extremely practical though and so is getting a lot of use! I get very cold very easily especially across the shoulders and neck as soon as there is any draft. I also use it to sneak as an under layer when wearing something smarter. I had to attend a dressier occasion where I wore a dress, boots and jacket. I wore it under my jacket, with a scarf covering the neck line. As it is thin it is not at all bulky and I was very grateful for the warm layer.I would therefore recommend it to a friend who needed a light, yet warm extra layer that can fold up tiny and travel wherever you go when not needed.
