I submitted a review back in May stating that I did not like the new design and fit of these pants. Someone from Patagonia replied and I really appreciate that, thank you. :) I am submitting another review now though because I have a new found love for these pants. I still prefer the old design but here is what happened to change my mind. I was heading to the mountains which was about a 6 hour trip. My 'driving pants' need to be super comfortable and I had them on getting in the car which was all packed and ready to go when I noticed spots on them. With no time for laundering or looking for another pair of comfy pants I grabbed the nearest clean pants which happened to be these new style Quandary pants. I now love these pants and although they are totally different from the older ones, I would suggest giving them a chance and wearing them for a while before deciding if you like them.

Call these pants Quandary II, or a totally different name

I was hopeful that the changes that I read about in the Comments wouldn't affect the fit so much, but I was so disappointed. The fit is radically different. The new version is too short. There is way too much fabric in the thigh area. The Quandary pants that I bought two years ago fit very nicely, and the length was just right.Patagonia: when you change the fit, fabric and design features of a garment why do you not change the name? These will be returned.

Fits perfectly

Love this pants! It offer a great fit with flexible, durable fabric and reinforced knees for long-lasting wear. The adjustable waistband and multiple pockets add convenience, while the breathability keeps you comfortable in various conditions. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor climbing, these pants provide a perfect mix of flexibility, durability, and practicality.

Great fitting hiking pants that deliver what they promise
29 April 2024

I don't understand why these pants have received such poor reviews. I bought two pairs of the Quandary pants a couple of months ago and find them very comfortable to hike in. They breathe well, look nice, are lightweight and pack well for travel, especially if you're only taking carry-on. They wash well and dry quickly. I wore them for an hour and a half in a light rain and they stayed dry. They fit true to size and don't ride up. I'm super-happy with them.

Not like the old ones…
22 May 2024

I love the old style of these pants much better. They were lighter weight and are overall much better designed imo. However I have gained weight and currently cannot fit into my older ones so thought I’d try these. I had to go up 2 sizes (most other clothing I just went up one size) which is why I think they run kinda small. Also the waist part seems narrower in comparison to the older style. I usually give all Patagonia clothing 5 stars as I love their clothes but can only give these a 3. I will be keeping the older ones as I plan to lose weight and will also give this new style a fair chance - maybe they just need to be broken in a bit.

Quandary Pants are totally different fit than former Quandary Pants - beware!
8 March 2024

I have a few pair of Quandary pants. They fit well and are great. I just order/received another pair of “Quandary pants” - they are totally different in the fit. There is no description/fit change or warning on your website. They are too tight in waist, too tight in backside, a bit looser in hips and my weight or height has not changed at all. You are deceiving by calling them “Quandary pants”. how about “Quandary pants II” - alert new fit, put something in the description/fit on website. Patagonia did this with Avaya pants I have…the old style required XS; the new style S for me. This was listed on your website. Revised Quandary Pant
19 March 2024

The revised Quandary pant is unfortunately vastly different in every way.The material, sizing and fit are totally different from my beloved originals. While an ok pant I would never consider them a hiking pant. They taper so much at bottom they barely go over sneakers let alone a boot and are more fitted overall with very little stretch. I had to buy one size bigger than original. They are a wear around pant not an active pant. So sad -they were awesome before.

Revised Quandary pant fit is very different from the previous pants
28 March 2024

I agree with the comment that “The revised Quandary pant is unfortunately vastly different in every way.” I have 8 pairs that I bought over the years and wear almost daily. The new version is much too tight especially around the waist with not much stretch like the old ones. I feel like the larger size would be oddly shaped on me. I wanted to add more color to my collection of quandary pants. Instead, I will return the ones I recently purchased.

disappointed to see the new design and reviews of my fav Patagonia pant
13 April 2024

These were my favorite pants for travel, hiking and day to day wear especially in summer. The fit and comfortable pockets made these a great all around fit. Even great for long hauls in airplanes and travel. The new design looks like it will ride up in the crotch and the redesign of the side leg pocket also looks not as useful. I hope your designers will go back to the classic quandry wider leg fit and softer lighter weight fabric. In a pinch, when traveling, I have even worked the black old quandry design into a chic palazzo pant look for nighttime. Don’t think that will work with the new design. Glad I bought lots of colors of “old” design in multiples over the years.

nice, multi use pants
30 August 2024

these are great! They're light weight, look nice, and fit really well. I don't know how to say they're "true to size" or anything since there's no continuity to sizing anywhere now. I have size 0 shorts from Gap that fit as well as my new, size 4 pants (and shorts - I got the same kind of shorts). They're casual but easy to upgrade with a nice top to be good for a dinner.I love that they resist water a bit a(and paw prints). They dry fast when washed!I love the little zippered pocket on the thigh! great for putting something small that could easily pop out when pulling something else out from a pocket. and there's a little shoelace around the waste for times when I get a little stressed (I tend to get skinny when things get a little intense)
