It is sold in a pack of four, and I wish it was offered in a bigger volume package since users will likely need to replace it during a weekly cleaning if they have more than one cat. I've decided that the ongoing outlay for filters will be offset by lower vet bills since my cats are now drinking adequately. If you're in the market for a fountain, I believe this one will prove worth the slightly higher price.

Beautiful looking, questionably unsanitary.

Expect to clean it every 2 days

This is my fourth fountain attempt, but second one from Chewy. My cat loves this fountain, and it is silent. However, I have only had it set up for 2 weeks, and have already gone through 2 charcoal filters. They are awful no matter how much you rinse. They leave residue all over the fountain. The really unpleasant thing is how slimy this fountain gets after 2 days. I mean SLIMY. I have noticed others with the same issue. Some think it’s the charcoal filters causing the problem, so I am going to try without them. I am using filtered water to begin with. I have noticed after about a week the charcoal filters almost look moldy. At any rate, know that if you want your pet to be drinking clean water you will have to clean the entire fountain every 2 days.

Our 7-month old goldendoodle puppy has been using this for a few days, and is drinking significantly more water than with a standard bowl. Simple set up took 10 minutes out of the box with clear instructions. The ceramic pieces are solid and all components are easy to separate and clean without awkward nooks and crannies. This fountain has been completely silent so far, and she took to it without hesitation or investigating. She has a classic golden retriever nose/head shape and size for her age, so we were a little concerned when ordering this might be too small for her to lap from. However, we were pleased that this is large enough to allow her to lap from the top, sides, and bowl without issues, but doesn't take up a ton of space. However, we were pleased that this is large enough to allow her to lap from the top, sides, and bowl without issues, but doesn't take up a ton of space. The cord is longer than needed for where our outlet is, but we just tuck the extra length under the bowl which is heavy enough to keep it in place. We haven't had it long enough to change filters so can't speak on that aspect, but happy to see Chewy sells both the replacement carbon and foam filters at reasonable prices. One thing to note is the narrow lip around the bottom of the center dome piece is not glazed, and is the rougher, plain ceramic surface. I point this out in case anyone is concerned about porosity and bacteria growth as it isn't sealed like the other ceramic components touching water. We plan to wash this every few days and add fresh water daily, so are not worried at this point, but something we will keep an eye on for any funk or mold.

Great fountain, but the pump will give out sooner than you think

I really want to like this fountain. It's sturdy, exceptionally quiet, easy to take apart and clean, the charcoal filters are robust, and the cord is easy to gently bundle up and tuck out of the way. Plus, there's a huge bonus offered by this design in that, if the power goes out while we're away, the cats still have access to the water. But here I am, four months after my purchase, on Chewy today buying a replacement pump that costs $21 because the original pump suddenly died. I cleaned the fountain every few weeks and replaced the filters as recommended, but it didn't matter. After a routine cleaning, I plugged the fountain back in and the pump was completely dead. Not only am I buying one $21 replacement, I'm buying two. Why? Because we know this is going to happen again, and again, and again, so I may as well stock up before they're no longer available and have to buy a new fountain altogether. And I wish I could say I'm surprised, but the last fountain(s) we purchased from Chewy had the same problem. We went through three different fountains and every pump failed after a few months to a year at max. It doesn't matter how well you take care of these things, the pumps are cheaply made and destined to fail. Dig into the reviews here or on any other fountain and you'll come to the same conclusion: Maybe 1 in 10 reviewers lucked out and got a pump that was well-made enough to last a few years, but the vast majority of us are replacing parts with far more regularity than the manufacturers or Chewey say will be necessary. The pros I listed at the top of this review are the reasons I'm not looking for another fountain altogether yet, but make no mistake: The components of this product are no better than anything else on Chewy, the pump in this fountain is just as cheap and destined to fail as anything else you'll find. But until someone makes high-grade cat utilities (I would happily pay $200+ for a fountain guaranteed/warranty-backed to work for several years), this is a tolerable option. A $20 pump replacement every four months isn't "the worst", and you probably can't do better anyway.

My cat really loved this fountain but sadly it did not love her back :(((In the beginning it was great and she was definitely drinking more water. Despite the company saying, "Take your pump and fountain apart to clean with soap and water every two to four weeks" I found if I didn't clean it AT LEAST EVERY OTHER DAY my cat would stop drinking from it because of the buildup (pink stuff). I bought it because I needed to use a special ph balanced catwater and I thought this would help me make it last since it is $$, however I went through even more of it because of the constant dumping and cleaning. Terrific Water Fountain for Cats!
25 August 2023

After much research I purchased the PetSafe Creekside Fountain a few months ago and wanted to give it time before I wrote a review. It took two months before my two cats started drinking from the fountain. Prior to this neither had shown any interest in drinking from flowing water at the sink. When I would turn the fountain on they would come over to see what the sound was and watch the water. They never appeared afraid of it, just curious. I tried floating ice cubes in the water and moving them around. Nothing was working then one day I noticed first one, then the other cat were drinking from the fountain. It is very quiet and you only hear a little sound when it first turns on. It's very easy to clean and change the filter. It is very quiet and you only hear a little sound when it first turns on. It's very easy to clean and change the filter. I do change the water and rinse it out every day to every other day as it just takes a couple of minutes. It's surprising how fast it becomes cloudy from their saliva, and cat hair falling in the fountain. The filter I change every couple of months as changing the water daily helps to keep the filter from getting clogged as quickly. The funny thing is they both drink from the back side closest to the wall, never from the middle, or front. For an item sitting on the floor it's attractive, and small enough to not be in the way. I'm very happy with it and highly recommend.

Very Disappointed with the quick Mold Growth
13 October 2023

I received this as a gift for my two cats in April 2023. When I opened the box, the fountain was aesthetically pleasing. It seems to be good quality and was easy to assemble. This is the only reason I even gave it two stars. The huge problem for me is that it is not usable after 2-3 days (from a sanitary/health perspective). The pump and both filters start growing mold. If you do not check the filters and pump for cleaning, you will not know until you dissemble it and /or replace the filters. I tried to only use the pump filter and then I tried to only use the charcoal filter and still the same result. So, I tried using no filters and the same result, except now the mold would start floating around in the water, unless I completely clean everything with white ... MoreI received this as a gift for my two cats in April 2023. So, I tried using no filters and the same result, except now the mold would start floating around in the water, unless I completely clean everything with white vinegar and soap and water every couple of days. I was informed by the company that my product issue is not a considered a product defect. I was offered a price discount if I wanted to try another fountain. As of now, I am not going to take the chance on another fountain and will continue to explore “fixes” myself to see if I can solve this problem to make this a usable water fountain.

Why did they change the fountain to this ?
22 October 2024

I was an avid fan of the water fountain this company offered before this one. I was moving and ordered a new fountain to have at new place. This new fountain is much smaller than the prior fountain that is of the same design. I had the extra 2 types of filters on hand already and was happy they were of use in the new fountain. However, this new fountain gets so dirty so quickly! I soaked the charcoal filter prior to use but there is so much charcoal residue lining the fountain. I believe this is due to them shrinking the fountain but not the filters. The fountain needs easily weekly, or 2 monthly cleanings. The fountain gets very dirty, and slimy. Once I’m out of filters, I will look for another fountain. The one prior to this design was better. They made it smaller ... MoreI was an avid fan of the water fountain this company offered before this one. I was moving and ordered a new fountain to have at new place.
